  • Bad tuning bro, this engine should have 88hp at stock no mods. haha

  • I'm confused as to why you would even dyno this. I have a 96 DX and it is slow as shit with the Z5. Was the BP swap out of the question?

  • lol dont wanna hurt anyone's feelings here but is this a joke?

  • Shit I have an LX with a 2.5 vtec supercharged pushing 345 hp you just need a better engine, it's funny when I pull up to people then floor it big surprise!!!

  • haha of course its slow, it actually pulls for a 1.5 mazda with 92hp, when i have my car packed it pulls slow as shit though haha

  • Needs boost. Z5 responds very well to boost. 300whp max on stock internals.

  • Slow?: yes

Economical?: yes [but right now mine is eating up gas. Trinidad & Tobago traffic]

Can it fit a 324lb guy: Ohhhhh yes

Can it fit four other guys LIKE me: Ohhhhhhh yes

1997 special edition 323f 3EAT Auto trans w/ manual mode [very handy with hills]

  • Yo tengo un Protegé LX 1996 y es muy bueno y económico, aunque con la transmisión automática no es muy rápido que digamos.

  • how much it cost to get all of that customs done

  • pussy shit?

  • I have this exact same car (automatic, and green.lol)...great work car, and i wouldnt trade it for nothing.

  • btw - if you guys see my other videos, there are a bunch of videos of this car on a race track

  • I read that the stock power of the 1.5L is something like 92hp and 95 tq. the 1.8L is around 120hp and 125 tq. If anything you went down in power, not up.

  • The car is rated at 92hp at the flywheel. A dyno measures power at the wheels, so it doesn't factor in drivetrain losses. If you were to add in the 15% drivetrain loss it would have 95.5hp at the flywheel at the time in this video.

Also remember the car has 300,000km on it

  • I have a 1.5 Protege too, and it is far and away the slowest car or truck I have ever driven. But I can get 45 mpg if I set the cruise control to 60 MPH and it will easily accommodate 4 adults... no joke. It has more leg room than a Crown Vic. And it has never ever had anything expensive break on it in 12 years.

Does any one out there know if you can get up-rated springs for this car?

  • H&R makes lowering springs for the car

  • i wish mine was the 1.8l mine was a 5 speed but the fuckers before me took it out lol no idea why

  • haha i have the same car 1.8l with a p-flow he sound same :D

  • Those numbers aren't very impressive, gotta be some of the lowest I've seen in a car. Stock power must be super weak then. At least you got more torque than horsepower, that's cool!

  • haha the cars slow as balls. But it races in a slow class. I had to do the dyno run to prove that it only had very little power

  • Nice protege, but these bad boys aren't made for tuning, well at least the 1.5 L. I also have a 1.5 l 1995 protege but i know that if i go the tuning route, im def gonna do an engine swap, but nice dyno run

  • how many power made this proto?

  • nice sounds good. i have the same car!

  • hey .....what was the redline?

  • i have a 2000 protege DOHC how much whp

  • He's good, but I'm pretty sure he can't telepathically dyno your car.

  • about the same as this, maybe less torque

  • I've got a question...I have a 96 protege, and the slave cylinder on the clutch is out.... do you have any idea how to get to it, and replace it?

  • the car feels like it has more horsepower than it says

  • Not really, I also have an ES Protege with the 122hp 1.8L BP engine. After driving both back to back, its very obvious how slow the Z5 is. I've also run it down the 1/4 mile, as well as been on the track with many types of cars, and its usually the slowest accelerating car there.

  • do you know if the 1.8lt engine fit in my '95 protege?? i have the 1.5lt engine...and what mods can i do to it?

i've been looking for a catback and camshafts, but i can not find anything..

    thanks.

  • @angelosdavos It could.but it would be pure chaos to put that beast in!

  • hey ....my z5 makes 102 hp with an intake only

  • That must be quite the fancy intake to give you 19 horsepower..

  • I have a protege 1998 1.5 dohc se ho much HP did have

  • 83 whp

  • nice dyno pull man i have the same car as you. but mines now black with black konigs.

  • Its the little one that could!

  • got actualy same car euro model. the Z5 is a small engine, but runs good. mine as done soon 250.000km and still goes 183km/h whitout any modifacations :)

just need to take good care ;)

  • i hate you! =P i want that emanage so much, make the damn harness pigeon!

  • haha the swap harness or the emanage patch harness?

If you have a 97-98 Z5 I can make you a plug-n-play kit with the emanage patch harness, set the jumpers, and even load my fuel/timing maps on. Then you just plug the unit in, make sure you run 94 octane fuel, and than it'll be the same setup as my car :)

  • what do you charge for those services

  • I don't operate the dyno facility, I just brought the car there. I believe it is $85.00/hr

  • bro... i was asking what are your prices for the emanage setup. lol

  • So the 1.5L had only 83 hp? I know the 1.8L had 130.

  • Well at the flywheel the 1.5L is rated at 92hp, but on a dyno it only registers as 83hp. On a dyno, the 1.8L would show about 115hp

  • I've got a 96 with the 1.5, not exactly a quick car, but gets where you want it to go, more reliable than good for performance, quite durable too. I've never had any starting problems with mine aside from once when the starter cable rotted. They just have a lot of problems with the altinators.

  • I have the EXACT same car. Same color, too.

  • I remember that motor :P GO BP!!!! Bye Z5 :D. Great job Pidgeon

  • I have a 1.8L 97....I just love it..simply because its reliable....it started in -40 whether without any plug ins....

  • cool video mine is a 97 looks ezactly like yours but different color. yea the mazda are beutiful machines i know they got new proteges commin out probuly get that too. is urs standard or auto

  • lol yes this is the cars true horsepower

The year this dyno was taken the car came in first place, in Touring 3 (the slowest Ontario Solosprint class).

It was also came in 4th place overall for 2007. If the power/weight ratio changed beyond what it was, it would have been classed higher and done far worse than it did.

  • you should probly strip the entire car to get a better power to weight ratio if that is your true power.

  • Are you crazy?...If that car was any lighter, traction would be impossible...Think about the endless money that would be spent on tires...

  • Im shocked the mounts are stil intact, with all of this power!

  • Fury.
