close your eyes and remember when we were all pumpkinheads with souls. If you wanna call this emo, it sure is better than what is coming out these days.
@saporoth Screaming? You know, prior to Christie Front Drive the emo scene was dominated by bands who screamed. However, these guys knew what they were doing, unlike the shitty scene bands today.
@TheHellawaitsyou (supposing you are who you say you are) Are you still in touch with the rest of the Mineral dudes? If you guys got back together I think it would go really well.
@TheHellawaitsyou please get back together. its time to take back what has been stolen from you guys. this music was so gorgeous and now its been turned into a way to wear your hair. please do something about this. come to nebraska. we miss having y'all around.
say an article in AP last year about bands who influenced "punk". most were ok but i saw these guys in there.. finally checked it out. this may be some of the "original emo" but i really don't think this helped shape punk. maybe it helped shape what the majors sell as punk now. this was kind of boring to me. if i want to listen to something like this i'd rather put on a Sebadoh record
Its all coming back... we cool kids (aged 14-15) would sit in the back in the pitch dark and smoke cloves hand over fist. I remember being mesmerised by one of the guitar players who played enitrely with his back to the audience and screamed so violently into the microphone whilst playing that it sent shivers through the whole place.
I used to have an old ep of theirs this was on. Id say your best bet is to go to a site that converts youtube vids to mp3's. I sent you a link to a torrent too.
Gotta love Christie Front Drive! Check out Golden City while you're at it. Eric (guitarist/singer from CFD) plays in it and it's in a similar vein. Also The 101. Antarctica had him as well, though quite distinct.
it's on the compilation "(don't forget to) breathe" released by crank records. you can get it online or possibly at a record shop? idk i just ordered mine.
ah,to be one,two or three years old!(i've only known this band less than a year, but i like the keep in mind that i was still around just before these bands broke up).Fuck Paramore.I was writing songs better than theirs when i was 9 before they were even formed.
sucks, i had to be born after all the greatest music had ended, the music today sucks, the quality and style is all determined by how well it will sell, why won't someone just say fuck this and make music like this again
I'm sorry, but you're just not looking hard enough. Truth be told...we're living in another golden age of music. You just can't rely on MTV or the radio to feed it to you anymore. try reading/ sampling stuff that Pitchfork and Stereogum reviews every week and I guarantee that you'll find a wealth of awesome music.
pitchfork is a hipster music review site. they are probably the lamest place to go for music you can go. of course they review good albums, but they also overrate anything that hasnt already been hyped elsewhere. they are pretentious and super ignorant about indie music prior to broken social scene.
I was lucky enough to see Antarctica play with....THE GLORIA RECORD! Although the full bands of CFD and Mineral weren't represented it was still super awesome to see at least some of them in ONE night!

this is probably one the greatest songs ever
does anyone else think it's almost a cousin to the Appleseed Cast's Marigold & Patchwork? i always think of that song when i hear this one.

Taken from a video of Ian talking at an Embrace show. Its a little longer but yeah ive heard Ian and Guy (Picciotto) detesting the term emo.
