Stefan is incredibly sweet! I just love him! Even though I ship D/E I could never hate him. He's a great guy & love the way he treats people like Elena, Caroline, etc.

In season 3 he's become a ripper & so emotionless that it really shocks me how different he is. If you compare this scene & a scene from 3x06 you'll be shocked as well. I just hope that the sweet/caring/loving Stefan will soon be back because I've missed him so very much.

I never even understood why Elena didn't ask for Caroline right away earlier this episode. It's like she completely forgot about Caroline and then all the sudden when she was in Stefans cuddling arms she was like "oh, right, Caroline! How is she?!" Annoys me everytime I see it. :') But apart from that, I think this was a beautiful scene and a beautiful episode. Great acting from Candice, I really love how she plays her role as Caroline.

I really did adore this scene; I think Caroline's friendship brings out a wonderful side of Stefan!

But in response to some comments below, yeah, I couldn't see Damon doing something like this. But I can't really imagine Stefan confronting Liz and defending her daughter, like Damon did. They each have their own ways of showing that they care. :)

First of all; Elena and Bonnie didn't know at that time what really happened with Caroline, if they had known, they've probably go visit her anyway. Stefan was just trying to be a good friend to Caroline, and about that "I love you", Elena probably said that because she appreciated what Stefan did for Caroline. Maybe unnecessary, but I think it was so sweet.
