  • and senna goes through!

  • The only thing I didnt like was the guy singing looking at the camera, for everything else, Excellent video, keep working like that.

  • @guilleu hey thanks for the comment, and you know what, you're right, when I watch this back now the only thing I'd really change was that, not have him look at the camera. cheers.

  • As a CS Major, I am questioning what Optimistic could effectively inherit from Radiohead.

  • I just discovered Radiohead, I LOVE THEM! <3

  • it makes me optimistic to face my exam

  • so fucking good

  • not a radiohead-style music video, but this is really nice.

  • the old man should have found his keys and cell :)

    and the crackhead another hit!

Excelentes canciones. Excelente grupo.

  • @Patohead001 Prácticamente todo el Hail to the Thief tiene esas referencias. De Amnesiac no se pueden olvidar Dollars & Cents, Like Spinning Plates y Life in a Glasshouse.

Excelente grupo sí, pero todas las canciones se acomodan a diferentes percepciones.

  • Yet another one... it took me quite a while to realize this wasn't the original! You probably got Thom Yorke himself thinking when do they ordered this.

  • Wow dude, good job. If that is what you can do on a budget of a Big Mac, I would like to see what you could do with a bit of cash.

  • haha, I actually thought this was the original video :')

    Great job!!

  • this video just leaves me with one question, wil i put a shotgun in my mouth before or after i finish watching this one stupid series

  • I hated this. Im at 1:49 and closing the window.

  • Heard a song by Civil Twilight this morning that sounds too much like a stripped down version of this. Its called Letters from the Sky. Between this and 'Faster' by Matt Nathanson - I'm beginning to think that copyright laws are far too lapsed and 'creative' types are getting far too lazy.

  • it's good enough! You tried the best you could

  • I think the best you can is, in fact, good enough.

  • This is good. Really good!

  • This is an absolutely brilliant video, Keir. Congratulations! The acting, the cutting, the photography; everything is absolutely fantastic. I hope we'll see more like this from you.

  • 9 people are pessimistic.

  • I honestly thought this was their real video until I read the comments. Excellent job guys!

  • Comment removed

  • Beautiful. Really captures the feeling of Radiohead, making you feel abject desperation and melancholy joy.

  • fucking horrible

  • @dhide14 they see me trollin'

  • man I got a cool vid for this song it matches it almost perfect

  • Really nice interpretation and well edited. Good job!

  • Brilliant video...Really moving and totally in the spirit of the song...Nice one guys :)

  • Hey that was a neat video! I thought it was actually an official video... well done! And of course the song is great too... I had a strange urge to listen to it just now.

  • Great video. You have a lot of talent

  • Great Video"

  • blah who cares!!!

  • i got my english teacher to listen to this album. when i handed it to him, he ran out of the class and made for his car.

i came back the other day and he said he loved it XD

  • I don't care what the description says. This is definitely the official video.

  • Thanks for making such a positive song

  • reminds me of everything in life its a great song

  • this is such a mellow song

  • Thumbs up if top gear gets you here

  • @EleCtronicHouse25 Yeah and Ayrton Senna too

  • this should get more views.

  • Heard this song as part of Top Gear's Ayrton Senna tribute and fell in love with it. Even better to hear the whole song.

  • just heard this for the first time on radio so i went here to hear it over and over.... love it!! =)

  • absolutely fantastic video, i'm sure that even thom yorke would be pleased! the atmosphere is freezing!

  • nice! I LOVE this song. I would get home from fishing in AK & hop a train from Seattle to Spokane in the middle of the night & play this album. The music was so perfect for a dark, eerie train ride home after a long, long trip away....

  • OMG..Amazing video guys...:))

  • FANTASTIC video. You guys have real talent. Kudos to you :)

  • Awesome video.

    Always remain optimistic.

  • That likes Status Quo - Pictures Of Matchstick Men

  • Love this band & all of their songs & videos are Amazing!

  • BRILL :D

  • the old man was awesome!

  • hail to the thief

    kid a

    ok computer

    pablo what

  • Congratulations, guys, I love what you did with the song! Really loved the video.

  • I don't understand why Thom isn't singing in the video rather than this random bloke.

  • @Jorzbalzla

A test music promo to Optimistic, by Radiohead. Thanks so much to the 4 great actors, working for nothing at 3am in icy January in London. To Adam, for lending me your camera, cheers dude, and to Dédé, ta babes, for organising everything. One day - one day we'll make something for more than the cost of a Big Mac. Literally. Thanks folks.

  • it's a community made music video, made by normal people.

  • Lol I like how you think RH aren't normal people.

  • amazing song. radiohead kicks fuckingasssss

  • Very nice job man.

  • whats with this tackyhipster asshole no offense but its not that big of a deal just listen to the song enjoy and forget about anger. its nothing to yell about.guess maybe he livesup to his name "hipster"

  • All interpretations of Radiohead are correct...

I don't feel like anyone is wrong when they share what they believe this music means.

When you release art or music into the world, you can not change how others experience it, what they take from it or how it inspires them...

That is the beauty of creation.

  • This is complete bullshit. This song is about finding a source of HOPE that makes you feel that what the main character of the album (Kid A) is going through is terrifying and turbulent through the horrors of a nation being demolished by war, and his intense emotions overwhelming his sanity. Kid A feels dazed and confused when the song "In Limbo" comes before "Optimistic". And optimistic means he stands up from the Purgatorial Vertigo, and becomes a choir of angels by himself.

  • The director of the video is completely unknowing of the world and accepts a slight scene of somebody they consider sad to be that they are sad because they do drugs. 'Don't do drugs' isn't what Radiohead is about. This main character with the guitar looks directly at the camera, and his ineffectual and cynical rage is completely bullshit as in stress about people he doesn't love or care about, but wants to show you sorrow. While someone like Kid A doesn't fight crackheads for ten bucks, but...

  • ...but the fuckhead seems like he'd rather slip the world a little lethal injection and pat it on the head thinking that they saved it, when Kid A will get up and fight like a saint, an angel of HOPE, and if he has to a God of Just. So FUCK YOU, because a puppy found, and a sad giggle isn't the way HOPE saves the world.

  • Cool story, bro

  • great fucking song, soothing and mellow

  • so cool

  • This video captures the essence of the song well. Checked it out cause I'm thinking of getting a small tattoo inspired by some lyrics in this song.

  • Absolutely captivating. Beautiful.

  • Radiohead would be proud.

  • This probably the first song i heard that remembered who the artist was. This first time in 9 years I heard and it brings back so many memories.

  • all thumbs up!!!!

  • big ups

  • so well made i though it was the music video unless it is... but if not really good work!

  • I love how all these fucked up comments get thumbed down, but I'm really laughing my ass of at how the guy who said "Sounds like Foo Fighters" got 11 thumbs down, while "Fucken nerds..." get 9. Really shows you how ridiculous that comparison is.

Anyhow, I love the video really captures the essence of the song, and the mood. Great video for a great song

  • Excellent quality video! What camera was used to shoot it?

  • a professionnal i think

  • quality video

  • This is audio tears.

  • great stuff, gave me goosbumps at the end...:)

  • hahaha, is that the iconic clockwork orange tunnel at the beginning of the video?

  • great job, it really captures the message of the song

  • that was really great. Good job.

  • good job. =)))

  • really good dont listen to the mean people in the comments

  • Don´t quit, it's quite good. Congratulations, keep going :)

  • I definitely think the video honors 'Optimistic'

You rarely get a storyline without the band.

    People bitch too much, lamos.

  • A great music video. Bravo guys!

  • your mom goes to colledge.

  • tryin the best

    THEY CAN

    n

    DID

    an alright......

  • Excellent video - excellent directing - great plot - great actors!

  • that was really incredible

  • I never really listened to Radiohead (my ex gf was a big fan) but heard this song the other day and it's pretty interesting, seems like he's being sarcastic in the lyrics to me.

The best you can is your natural limit, you'll never be completely free to do what you want, so your potential and ability determines the size of your prison.

Saying its good enough is sarcastic, so in effect this song presents a shred of optimism surrounded by bleak pessimism, atleast thats what i heard it as.

  • you shouldn't hav broke up with your girlfriend if she was a radiohead fan ;)

  • she was also a meth fan... perfection is near impossible to come by these days...

  • Oh my, well, then I guess you had a reason to do so.

  • Meth are a pretty cool band though. What's the problem? :/

  • im pretty sure he wasnt refering to the band meth

  • You did it guys

  • Search Draft Animals - Nothing's Coming.

  • AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME! I LOVE Radiohead and I LOVED this! The man who dropped the groceries made me sad. I don't know why, but seeing old people sad always makes me cry...

  • Thats kind of odd, but it does make a lot of sense. Besides, who am I to criticize other people?

  • i heard this on then raido didnt know raido head did it thanks righton ^5

  • amazing vid. though I wasnt sure about the guy mouthing the lyrics. 5 *'s

  • god job. lindo perrito.

  • Though a bleak interpretation of the track, this vid was sublime in execution. Great editing, directing & I really felt the mood they were going for. Also thought it was a nice touch @ 2:13 to add the sound effect. You guys rock.

  • this is well done

  • great tune radiohead doesnt have "fans"

  • I think this is actually one of the first comments I've ever left on YouTube, but I am an avid lover of Thom Yorke and Radiohead and this song and I was just so moved by this that I had to add another props to your unanimous supporters here. Great F*CKING job, my friend. I can't say much more. I was waiting the whole time to see what would become of the 4 characters and was not let down. I think we're all curious to see more of your work.

  • The video it's perfect for this song. Even better than other official vids. Good job, man.

  • Really good video :)

  • Awesome message !!!

  • I love this song. Awsome!

  • Well done all around!

  • good video boy, congratulations!

  • How did you get Naomi Watts to do your clip?

  • Great video !

  • Would you mind sharing what camera you used to shoot this? Is this 24 frames? Natural lighting?

Please send me a message. PLEASE!

    Nice work.

  • since i found this song i cant stop playing it

  • Fantastic job!! you made it so professional looking..very nice editing...that is the one thing I think makes a movie/video...make some more!!

  • impressive video - nice job.

  • Good Job !!!

    It's like oficial video !

  • amazing song & great job!

  • One of the better songs..

    Ever.

  • Dude, that was sick!

  • Awesome video! Thanks for posting :)

  • hold on this aint the real video or is it...

  • No,RadioHead never gonna make moralistic bullshit for a music video like this one.

  • Are you kidding me? They're one of the only bands who actually have meaningful lyrics and who have at least some videos who have depth and morals. You sir are a huge idiot. By the way this is to "byLivio", and capitalize Radiohead right dipshit.

  • Dont get me wrong,im a huge RadioHead fan.

But this music video is pure moralistic bulltshit, and with lame dramatic acting.Thats my opinion, sorry.

And this is not a official video from RadioHead.

  • Lik yea man, I totally agree!!!

I mean, RadiohEad are like so too cool for serious, high budget blockbuster videos like this!

I think cool guys like you, who spell RadioHead like this should get to direct all their new videos!

  • lol,thx for the sarcasm.

  • Pretty good for an amateur-ish video. Keep it up! You will go far.

  • looked pretty professional to me, radiohead would be proud i think, good video ALL around for real, well done

  • very interesting, great video.

  • Brilliant... really it is a good video!

Thumbs up!! You will get to making more than the cost of a big Mac!

    Cheers!

  • I have to say that this is a wonderful video interpretation of one of my favorite songs by Radiohead... When this song came out, I was roaming the streets w/ my boyfriend at the time experimenting on drugs at all hours of the night, and the atmosphere of the places in the video took me back- back then I was in a downward spiral too and this song made me feel that there were better days ahead. I cried when I saw this- thank you for reminding me how far I've come from those days. Great job!

  • anthony has no dick ftw

  • nice vid^_^

  • Hey, I'm a first time Radiohead listener and i was gonna buy a cd of theirs which one would you most recomend between In Rainbows, Kid A, Amnesiac, or Hail to the Thief?

  • Hail to the Thief, hands down winner.

  • All those albums are FTW! Depends on what you want from Radiohead. In Rainbows is quick, with some beautifully constructed songs, Kid A and Amnesiac will require a few listens but are very rewarding once you "get it" and Hail to The Thief is OK Computer 2 (Thom said that, not me) so none of them would be bad choices. In fact, do yourself a favor and get them all. Ciao =) and happy listening!

  • Damn good video dude thank you !!

  • Felicitaciones!! me conmoví mucho.

  • tight shit!!!!!!

  • i can relate to her too, i lost my dog a few years ago and it sucks

This is one of my favorite songs.

  • Oh god it brings it all back, I know just how she feels! I lost a dog and spent weeks putting posters up and searching back streets of Birmingham... Seeing that guy toking stone made me realise how much danger I put my self in with some of the places I went looking! I just didn't care at the time, I was so heart broken...

  • you do realize that the point of the video however was to show that someone was putting lots of effort into finding that dog and yet nobody really cared about the street people? I mean, you don't suppose this video or the song was about the perils involved in looking for a dog?

  • I disagree with you. To me it seems like the video is about people who have lost something, or who have given up. Each person gets back something in the end by helping out the others.
