  • I hope these 'strong steel' comments are whimsical. But maybe many don't remember the crap that was made back then. NO safety features. Not even seat belts! Today's cars are made for impact. They are designed to crumple and isolate the cabin from shock.

Or course, if those airbags pop, the car is totaled. Plus, they are works of art - which is why that $25 headlight or taillight lens is now $300!

  • Professional Smoker Do Not Attempt.. ok I guess I'm a Professional Russian then!

  • I'll bet riding in one of those cars were WAY safer than the ones they make now. They were made of steel back then, I think they make cars out of Fiberglass now.

  • professional smoker, Lol

  • Very nice looking cars.

  • nobody these days would even dare to jump their cars. this is the way cars should still be made....to survive

  • now i wonder if they actually did those tests haha,

  • Nothing like a good smoke, as you bounce along.

  • look at the 55 second haaha he look from the HOOD in a nice lowrider

  • I don't believe that nowadays any kind of car maker will show this amazing proves on TV.

  • Awesome commercial!

  • If you were late for work, they made you ride the "Brutally punishing Bump and Shake Rig." Cigarettes were mandatory, even if you didn't smoke. Those who managed to last an hour without puking were given the rest of the day off, with pay.

  • @Impalamark64

    That's not entirely true.

  • @neatoauctions Of course it isn't, but my comment wasn't intended for those who have had their sense of humor surgically removed.

  • lmao i thought they were lowriders at the start.

  • B-H

True, cars are made of plastic crap today...I own and drive a 69 Corvair myself, but those solid metal interiors made quite a dent in your head if you got into a collision...

Some of the new stuff isn't as bad as you might think. But I still like the old cars better...Bill H.

  • @gojoe283

I love my '65 corvair sedan great car to drive. Plastics will never be American classics.

  • did you get this from the old tape "dream cars of the 50's and 60's"? i saw the little gt in the bottom left for goodtimes home video, my dad has this tape and i must've watched it thousands of times as a kid

  • I'd like to see chevy drive cars like that on a commercial today

  • me2, not some ugly design plastic crap like today (not all).
