This was the last one to have any 'Beatle unity' , even if in truth they were fast growing apart (this brilliant montage by Kenny Everitt helped to disguise the fact). They were no longer in the same room to record it, but the illusion was maintained.....for now.
@CroxleyEducator Their last christmas record made together was in 1967, the next two were, as you say, montages. In the 1969 George was cut to only one sentence...
Nice to see these xmas records on youtube. They rate right up there with THE BONZO DOG BAND and MONTY PYTHON. (Not to mention ELECTRIC LUCIFER). Say, didn't TINY TIM do another song for their xmas bonus records?; an actual xmas song? I'm still a little dubious as to whether this is really Tim.
@huntergruntetr123 Well, that IS Tiny Tim doing his voice. Look him up; he was pretty much a freak in 1968, but he was basically the same guy some ten years earlier!
Thanks for posting this. I had the last two of these when I was in the fan club as a child. I wish I'd kept all that stuff, but got rid of so much stuff over the years.
@Ewesgirl Thanks for your comment. I do enjoy listening to those Christmas Special at every year during Christmas time. For me it's like an holiday tradition since 2001 when I heard them for the first time.
LOL...that Christmas ditty Paul sings here is better than that one he officially released years later called "Having a Wonderful Christmastime" in my humble opinion.... :-)
No one noticed the great similarity between the christmas song Paul is singing here and what would become, just a month later -January 1969-, I've Got A Feeling?
It seems for me that this festive tune he's singing on his bits of the record might be the very demo, embryonal version of what would become his rocking tune on the Let It Be album.
by far the best thing on this xmas fan club only record, is lennon whose pastiche of the criticism he and yoko (jock and yono!) is quite frankly, true comedic genius. it starts at 1:53 and is unbelievably clever.
Of course you're talking about the greatest singer songwriter of all time even with little christmas ditty like he does here... He's the best. Happy Christmas.
Anyone else stare at the cover art, and see a short haired woman with a widow's peak with blue eyes, red lips, blowing ice breath?

1968 Christmas record sounds a lot like 'Revolution 9'.

The 'Happy Christmas' song at the beginning (The guitar) sounds like 'I've got a feeling' on the Let it Be album.

i ike their 63' 64' and 65' christmas record! but after that they are stupid i think. the beatles were starting to go there different ways
thebeatles4ever3 1 year ago
@thebeatles4ever3 I agree, though the '66 christmas record is pretty amusing. In this one, George is basically like "honestly, I don't give a f**k."

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Some of the after 1966 songs had occult symbolism i.e when songs are played backwards (Al Crowley 'trick' or treat).
