  • Everclears Greatest Hits album has been in my CD changer for so long I don't even think it will come out at this point.

  • so.... does anybody remember when they were in neds declassified school survival guide?

  • my absolute favourite song, never get tired of it. Just so raw and real

  • I....Can't....Smile.

  • This song makes me wish it was easier to tell my dad that I'd miss him if he were gone.

  • If you like this song, look up the band Eat The Dog on face book and reverbnation. Great song!

  • when I hear this song, I feel I'm in the 90's

  • this is my favourite song of all time... so sad that they turned into Bon Jovi lite :(

  • I love me some Everclear!!

  • I. Love. This. So. Damn. Much.

  • Only 42,000 views fuck this is their bes t song id rather hear this than santa monica.

  • @agtcrew SM and their other songs where played on the radio (& tv). I never heard of this song on the radio. I just happen to cross this song and it was as all the others they had, but the radio station forgot about them. Back in the 90's they were rock, but now they are to "soft" to be rock. And not Pop enough to be on the top 50.

I still think they are one of the best bands <3 heart *spark $ dollarsign

  • 2 morons hate this song.

  • I love how the raw these lyrics are. Hell of a song.

  • I love how the raw these lyrics are. Hell of a song.

  • One of the most of the emotional songs i know

    russia loves you, art :)

  • one of my fav songs

    Got the Happy Face then?

Coming up next, he's a lumberjacket and hang gliding lessons

  • god i wish i could go back to the 90's

  • Best song ever!

  • What happened to this band?!!

  • @PittsDick77 they got in debt, goit sued and sold the rights to their songs, they made new stuff and there not as big as they used to be, truly tragic

  • @paddyoshea55 - Oh I know that. What I meant was, why do they suck wiener now? They used to be so good and have so many meaningful and soulful songs. Now they're garbage. The first 2 albums were the only good ones in my opinion. I guess they truly lived up to the phrase "Sparkle and fade"...

  • i saw this video on bohemia afterdark in 1995.

back in the day, there was no internet to find out about good bands. bohemia afterdark and punk uprisings were the shit.

  • @oregonflatland

    Halfway true.

Internet was there, but not everyone had the thing.

Windows '95 and the primitive browsers/server before that.

Then again I was in the Army, where civilians really didn't have access.

  • wow this takes me back. I can remember whenI 1st heard it then saw the vid on 120 minutes. I was out searching for the cd the next day.

  • this song is so emotional. dear god i love it.

  • alright whos the one asshole that disliked this vid? haha

  • one of the greatest and most consistently, thoroughly depressing songwriters and rock composers of the past 20 years

  • one of, if not THE most epic and beautiful rock songs i've ever heard

  • one of the best songs of all time and i'm not even a hugh everclear fan.

  • Thanks for this playlist!!! Forgot how amazing Everclear are!

  • it sounds so grunge it's awesome

  • goodtimes at laluna

  • Art and Everclear defines the 90's music for me. This is one of the greatest bands ever and they are still putting out great music. So Much for the Afterglow was my first real CD and I have listened to it so much that I had to buy another copy (was before copying CDs was the thing to do) and I can't go a week without listening to something from them.

I am so glad Art has persevered through all the hard time and close calls to bring us parts of his soul.

  • @EinKrieger2788 We'll said I agree 100%

  • I'm 26 and this is a real throw back. Everclear's Santa Monica and this one are my favorites. Hail the summer of 96'!!!

  • Everclear reminds me that I was a few decades too late.

  • this sounds like a fart. andrew, i hope you're reading this.

  • One of my favs, just awesome!

  • Best band ever to come out of Portland... Great song!

  • People always talk about the 70's and 80's being the best years for music, but look at the bands that shined in the 90's. For example, Stone Temple Pilots, Foo Fighters, Weezer, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Nirvana, Bush, RHCP, Pearl Jam, and of course Everclear... that is only naming a few off the top of my head.

  • One of the best songs ever written by Everclear.

  • I was born twenty years to late. I fucking love Everclear! The 90's rocked way more the todays stuff!

  • one of my favorite bands of all time : )

  • good band. don't like this song though :L

  • Feel that....

  • if i am not mistaken i do believe i heard him say North Carolina right?? heck yes, represent!

  • This song grew on me like a great drink. Great album. Will always love Everclear's first 3 albums. They are worth their weight in gold.

  • Song Gives me Chills Every Time I Listen to it.... Now THAT'S How Good Music Should be like.

  • weekend and watching

  • Weekend ... listening again.

  • Weekend ... listening

  • I love how the 60's-90's were an era of Rock n' roll. But than we hit 2000's. Where's the Rock? I don't ever hear it.

  • Does anyone else listen to his song over and over again every weekend for years on end?

  • @OBERONFFF I listen to it every day

  • COURTraeMCK @onegreenday

It's Greg Eklund who is the drummer from Sparkle and Fade on; Craig Montoya is the bass player.

  • wow his voice changed majorly............more puberty?

  • This song is IT. It'll be IT 15 years from now, it was IT 15 years ago. Great album too.

  • man I remember listening to this album all the time when I was in highschool

  • this is lip sink since that's not the drummer that was on the original record.

  • @onegreenday most music videos are... do you think they record a video while simultaneously singing it? lol

  • @onegreenday they usually sing along with it but put the studio version over top of it.

  • @AudioInjectedSoul11

All I meant was that's not the drummer from the original record "world of noise"

    the old drummer left.

Everclear roared out of Portland as one of that city's first major-label signings. Capitol re-released World of Noise, which the band had made for T/K Records, and decided to spring for a video as well. Craig Eklund had become the new drummer by this time.

  • I miss the original Everclear. Now it's just Art and 3 new guys. Their music wasn't as good with them.

  • Catharsis

A purifying or figurative cleansing of the emotions, especially pity and fear, described by Aristotle as an effect of tragic drama on its audience.

A release of emotional tension, as after an overwhelming experience, that restores or refreshes the spirit

this song can make me cry every time

"turn away from the pain you don't want"

  • greatest song ever written. hands down. Art is a genius.

  • whf u talking bout kurt

they are from the same time

and they totally sing different styles

    and different areas

    sorry buddy

  • I grew up with this song. Sadly, until recently, I hadn't heard it for six years. When I heard it the other day, wow. Childhood all over again. Awesome song.

  • How can one man have so many great songs

and not be a household name.

It's true great talent only counts for so much

  • @mdwo01

they were household names.....once upon a time. dont forget that.

  • @murdermegently

Unfortunatley not so much in Australia.

And I think Art still should be (so much talent )

  • @mdwo01 seriously they are so underrated

  • Original, this is all Everclear, truly one of there best.

  • I love Everclear! The band and the liquor! And for some reason this reminds me of Escanaba In Da Moonlight...the sweet maple tree sap whiskey

  • I never want that to be my son

  • I think this is one of their best.

  • @Meltingfaces meant to thumbs up this woops

  • Such a damn good song like most of their other songs

  • now i live alone and your so far away...so true

  • This is a great song. It makes me remember my roots, and how it's all gone. I wish I could go back 20-30 years ago. There are some reasons in your life that you can't smile anymore. Great song.

  • fuking sik!

  • this is fucking cracking....bury me just bury me....love from ireland

  • My buddies and I caused so much trouble driving around and drinking in the mid 90's listening to World of Noise by Everclear.

    Awesome

  • i don't know why it took me so long to find this song here... it's sort of my theme song : *i* want to go back to the house in North Carolina, lay in the backyard, get drunk and let the leaves just bury me... i want to go home!!! i miss and love you, robby. <3

  • this is a life changing song

  • definitely!

  • This song is great. Hey, has anyone heard the acustic version? I remember hearing it a long time ago in a 1997, 411 Skate video. You should look it up.

  • My favourite Everclear song!

  • I like this song its not what they usually play its more serious and still bad ass

  • This is when they started out basically this was their original sound if you like this check out loser makes good by them.

  • haha i'm from north carolina. I agree, the leafpiles are fun ;-)

  • tis the song of kings

  • freakin' awesome

  • this is a kick ass video

  • we're talking about 15 years ago. this is one of the coolest bands of my gen. you tweens can all suck shit and choke on it. great band, awesome lyrics.

  • hey, not ALL of my generation fails to appreciate the genius that is Everclear. lol.

    I'm the one that doesn't :P

  • im 11 and i think there sick

  • @397onlyforthemusic u will get it when u r +26

  • no sick is good it means cool in skateboard slang i love everclear

  • Music wise maybe but I met them and they're really nice

  • SICK ISNT A BAD THING! its a good thing

  • @jmpisthemachine

     /agree

  • @jmpisthemachine Im a tween and i love this band. Beets "omg" 30-0

  • @paraawesome What the hell is a tween.. And what the hell is "omg"?

  • @TheFrozenBit wow...um.. A tween is a preteen (between ages 10-13) that tries to act older and grow up too fast. A wannabe teen. They will mimic what they think real teenagers act like. Omg is an acronym for "oh my god/oh my gosh"

  • @jmpisthemachine Yeah they Crashed and burns fast tho. I remember when they did not suck.

  • This song is in a very odd key for Art.. but anyway, I think getting drunk in a leaf pile sounds like a lot of fun.

  • Google cowpunk.

  • Afterglow only had a few decent songs? Give me a break!

  • everclear started out so good. wtf were they thinking after Sparkle and Fade?

  • the record company ate this band and spit it out. this was before the record company really got to them. major labels wreck everything.

  • I think "So Much For The Afterglow" had a few decent songs, but yeah after that they did start sucking

  • this band has a lot of different stylings of material, the beginning of this song almost sounds like a country song. then the guitar turns electric and art starts yelling and you remember its everclear =)

  • "World Of Noise", "Sparkle And Fade", and "So Much For The Afterglow". When it comes to Everclear those are the only 3 albums you need. There was no (public) band drama, just fucking northwest rock and roll. I saw Everclear twice during the period of those three albums and they kicked ass hardcore. I saw them once again a couple years later with a new band line up and it seemed the wind had left the sails. I really hate to say that, because of how much I love their music, but it's a sad fact.

  • I disagree, Songs from an American Movie part 1featured some of arts best songwriting even though it wasn't nearly as heavy as the previous albums. However SFAM captures a different side of Everclear which is completely viable with their MO. Art had his moments even after So much for the afterglow.

  • My favorite song of theirs for real.

Never saw the video. kind of disappointed theres no fire maple tree on fire -- that's what I always saw in my mind when listening to this song back in the 90's.

  • best band ever

  • 1:32 the song gets awesome!!!!!

  • I love the guitar in this song.

  • everclea for ever ooah

  • Nice, the song has been a favorite of mine for a long time, but I'd never seen the video.

  • Everclear is a great band!!
