@agtcrew SM and their other songs where played on the radio (& tv). I never heard of this song on the radio. I just happen to cross this song and it was as all the others they had, but the radio station forgot about them. Back in the 90's they were rock, but now they are to "soft" to be rock. And not Pop enough to be on the top 50.
I still think they are one of the best bands <3 heart *spark $ dollarsign
@PittsDick77 they got in debt, goit sued and sold the rights to their songs, they made new stuff and there not as big as they used to be, truly tragic
@paddyoshea55 - Oh I know that. What I meant was, why do they suck wiener now? They used to be so good and have so many meaningful and soulful songs. Now they're garbage. The first 2 albums were the only good ones in my opinion. I guess they truly lived up to the phrase "Sparkle and fade"...
Art and Everclear defines the 90's music for me. This is one of the greatest bands ever and they are still putting out great music. So Much for the Afterglow was my first real CD and I have listened to it so much that I had to buy another copy (was before copying CDs was the thing to do) and I can't go a week without listening to something from them.
I am so glad Art has persevered through all the hard time and close calls to bring us parts of his soul.
People always talk about the 70's and 80's being the best years for music, but look at the bands that shined in the 90's. For example, Stone Temple Pilots, Foo Fighters, Weezer, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Nirvana, Bush, RHCP, Pearl Jam, and of course Everclear... that is only naming a few off the top of my head.
All I meant was that's not the drummer from the original record "world of noise"
the old drummer left.
Everclear roared out of Portland as one of that city's first major-label signings. Capitol re-released World of Noise, which the band had made for T/K Records, and decided to spring for a video as well. Craig Eklund had become the new drummer by this time.
I grew up with this song. Sadly, until recently, I hadn't heard it for six years. When I heard it the other day, wow. Childhood all over again. Awesome song.
This is a great song. It makes me remember my roots, and how it's all gone. I wish I could go back 20-30 years ago. There are some reasons in your life that you can't smile anymore. Great song.
i don't know why it took me so long to find this song here... it's sort of my theme song : *i* want to go back to the house in North Carolina, lay in the backyard, get drunk and let the leaves just bury me... i want to go home!!! i miss and love you, robby. <3
This song is great. Hey, has anyone heard the acustic version? I remember hearing it a long time ago in a 1997, 411 Skate video. You should look it up.
we're talking about 15 years ago. this is one of the coolest bands of my gen. you tweens can all suck shit and choke on it. great band, awesome lyrics.
@TheFrozenBit wow...um.. A tween is a preteen (between ages 10-13) that tries to act older and grow up too fast. A wannabe teen. They will mimic what they think real teenagers act like. Omg is an acronym for "oh my god/oh my gosh"
this band has a lot of different stylings of material, the beginning of this song almost sounds like a country song. then the guitar turns electric and art starts yelling and you remember its everclear =)
"World Of Noise", "Sparkle And Fade", and "So Much For The Afterglow". When it comes to Everclear those are the only 3 albums you need. There was no (public) band drama, just fucking northwest rock and roll. I saw Everclear twice during the period of those three albums and they kicked ass hardcore. I saw them once again a couple years later with a new band line up and it seemed the wind had left the sails. I really hate to say that, because of how much I love their music, but it's a sad fact.
I disagree, Songs from an American Movie part 1featured some of arts best songwriting even though it wasn't nearly as heavy as the previous albums. However SFAM captures a different side of Everclear which is completely viable with their MO. Art had his moments even after So much for the afterglow.
Never saw the video. kind of disappointed theres no fire maple tree on fire -- that's what I always saw in my mind when listening to this song back in the 90's.
