what about game saves with a "lock", such as EA gamesaves, i havent used this method before, but will it literally clone my old hardrives files to a new hardrive? including those locked saves (such as EA gamesaves).
i really need help i really just need to know if you need to format the new hard drive going into it and or what happens when it keeps saying no something something data and ask you to press both START and SELECT
most people use sata most common brand name harddrive in electronic store. You dont have an option to make partions on your computer but it to can also format the whole hard drive to fat 32 i guess it really depends on individuals space needs.
p.s make sure before you put new drive your ps3 software is the latest version if its not you need to download it if you dont have internet attached to ps3 get access to a computer and go to playstation home page find update and download it to either a disk or use usb drive.

Aso dont forget to save your trophies to the server the drive will not save them also dlc content will need to be redownloaded but will no cost iny thing.

@HowarxD No you won't get banned, I have switched out the hard drive in mine and am playing online! The cool thing about the Ps3 is that they use a seagate hard drive to begin with! so switching is no problem!

I have one of the earliest PS3 models that only came with like 30 GIGS of space on it and I bought a game off the PSN store and I don't have space to download it. I was wondering what could be taking up all my space so I deleted some game data got a lot more but not enough so besides game data's which I clean what else might be using all my space, please reply, thanks.

@TheDumbMan6543 It was a SATA laptop Hard drive, Its dimensions are 2.5... So basically any Hard drive that says SATA 2.5 will work!
