Wonderfully exaggerated scale with the lowest range at 200 ppm... So lets take a second look at this data. The last greatest upswing in the data set shows CO2 increasing around 1700, yet the first coal fired power plant was built in 1878. As someone who has studied Chemical Engineering with great detail I could argue the basic stance that CO2 has the thermodynamic potential for our current climate increases, therefore it must be in large part due to other circumstances. Any debate is welcome
Since CO2 is not a main driver of climate, this small increase does not matter.
CO2 has been up to 2,000ppm and even 7,000ppm in the Earths past without noticably affecting the climate. Also, it is unlikely that we would be able to feed the Earths 7 billion+ people without the growing effects seen by the recent increase in CO2 concentration. Having a cheap source of energy has also brought us wealth and taken billions out of poverty. Releasing CO2 therefore, is wholly beneficial to our society.
Thank you for that incredibly rich animation containing so much data and summarising so much physics and geography. Showing the annual oscillations in the northern hemisphere and the slowly varying southern hemisphere is fascinating. Must have taken ages to put together - and thank you especially for including the original references.
I can’t believe that after all these years, people is still wondering about climate change. I can accept that media could be using information in many ways but scientific proofs about it are undeniable. Of course that plants, forests and vegetation are favored by this increase in CO2 but, as everything, it doesn’t last forever, isn’t infinite. There are modifications in plant growth caused by unusual climate events: frequent droughts, less polinization, among others. There is no doubt of that!
fake fake fake! does not consider the data collected over 150 years using the pettenkoffer process, takes ONLY the data that shows low points and disregards the high points.....99% of the data collated using the process which was professionally accepted as the scientific standard process was ditched, because it does not show what they want it to show
A warmer world is a better world. More CO2 makes things greener. The animation showed CO2 as low as 150 ppm 20,000 years ago. I'm surprised anything grew then.
Yes we are running up the CO2 count and there are probably more positive aspects as a result of that than negative. The notion that a warmer world will be a catastrophe is a propaganda masterstroke that would make Joseph Goebbels proud.
@stacase no, and we know the reason why dont we? the same people who fund the 'scientific study' own the media corporations.....and they dont want people knowing the truth, the truth offers no profit potential
How anyone can doubt mankind's impact is beyond me. There is a perfect correlation between industrial growth and the rise in CO2, as clearly shown here.
Plants love CO2, they breathe it :-D
So we have plants growing much better since 1979

sadly, the lack of views demonstrates exactly how many youtubers are researching global warming.

More desertification, less room to grow food. Mass extinctions. More extreme weather conditions.

doesn't this mean we can grow more food an there will be more freshwater

@stacase i agree entirely, as co2 levels rise vegetation grows faster and thicker, what better climate to reinstate the forests!!
