I am a big DELL's fan, the harmonies are outstanding not to mention the lyrics. The way the song is orchestrated you can feel the angst of love and the wanting and needing that person that person you feel that you need more than your next breath and you want him or her to STAY!
Thanks for that very through history of one of R&B's classic vocal groups The Dells. With Bobby Miller producing The Dells were constantly among the most popular vocal groups I remember "Does Anybody Know I'm Here'" "There Is" "Wear It On Your Face" "The Love We Had Stays On My Mind" just to name a few. I am sorry to hear of the passing of Johnny Carter. May The Dells continue to make history.
@KIZERVONZINGER Who could ever forget the hot sweaty house parties...the wall grind...speaking in whispers and low voices...trying to "get over" and worrying that you'd get home after you were told to be there?
@ortzruiz I was 15 too! & fell in love with the boy across the street to this song. Who would have known that after all these years; I still have times when I look at him and have to remind myself; girl,...breathe! Thank you, baby, for the years & thanks to the Dells. You both made my virginity a serious challenge back in the day!
WOW, I absolutely LOVE this song. When it was released I was a mere 1 years old. But I remember my mom and stepfather listening to it. I never knew the Dells sang it though. I knew that was a group from my mom's time. I thought it was another more recent group. What a surprise to find out how old and CLASSIC this song really is.
OH YEAH!THE MEMORIES,MY BRO MAY HE REST IN PEACE.THE TURBULENT 60s,GETTING CLOSE n GRINDING HARD LOOKING UP N HER MOM WAS TRYING TO BREAK UP THE DANCE.SO MANY WONDERFUL MEMORIES.
@TheMerriell i can hold that note still today and i am 61. i grew up on that song and am listinging to it now and holding that note lol. im a california og girl
I met my first love my one and only love on this song. Unfortunately we took separate roads in life. And every time I hear this it brings back a beautiful memory of a beautiful man that I let get away. smooth sailing57
HA!!!! When this song came out in 1968 I was turning 12 that summer and this song was being played on the radio and it wa the first 45 record that was longer that the 3 minutes. This song ROCKED and still does.
I don't get why people brag about being young and liking older music. I'm glad you like this song.... it's great, but it doesn't matter how old you are music is timeless. I dig music wrote in the 1700's.... I dig music that came out last week. It only matters if it's good. Who cares how old you are.
This is my jam! I'm 30, a California native, Mexican/Indian/Tongan/American, and I love the fact that my parents raised me up on this kind of music!!!
@ETJLMET RIGHT ON !! GOTTA LOVE THAT R&B. I was on the phone today with TIME magazine and I could tell the girl was Black and I ask her if she like TIRED OF BEING ALONE by TYRONE DAVIS,,she said who's that and I ask her if her Mamma was still living,,she said Yes and I told her to tell her MOM you told some White guy in his 60's you didn't know who TYRONE DAVIS was. She said WHY? I said you'll see. TheMojoMan*com my webpage

@carression My friend that makes two of us, don,t change for anyone but the lord, you got great roots, something missing in all these youngbloods today. Your brother in soul.

Owww MAN! We use to get in front of the mirror and sing this song. My parents would be slow dancing and us kids would sing with the record. On the part where they would hold the note for minutes and minutes. Our challenge to the other would be to see who could hold the note all the way through. We had so much fun. Great Memories! We all need good memories!
