@bonoboperson The symptoms are, that's for sure! But it's not a disease. It can't be physically proven to exist in a person by any known medical test. E.g. If I told you that you dream because your crazy and I get 10 'experts' to agree and tell you you need to take drugs for the dreams because you have a mental disease but that I can't show you any physical evidence of this to be the case, would you agree with me? Of course not. Road Rage Disorder is also a mental and physical disease?
@sebkarlsson ADHD has been proven to be a real brain disorder. you are correct that it is not a disease, but it is a disorder that is passed on by parents through genetics. the children cannot help it that they have adhd, and there are safe medications for it. it's not a result of bad parenting or laziness. it is actuallya shortage of two chemicals called dopamine and norepinephrine. the disorder affects the frontal lobe, which is the part of the brain that is in charge of impulse control.
@bonoboperson As a former psychology major, I can safely say taht ADHD was never proven to be a brain disorder. It's a theory. There are no genetic tests or any such thing to determine any behavioral problem. Besides, the theory states that ADHD is caused by seratonin, not dopamine.
@bonoboperson (continued)On that note, we are still unaware of what the normal levels of any brain chemical, seratonin, dopamine, or otherwise actually is. If we don't know what the normal level is, how can tell someone they have an imbalance? This is a fallacy. However, a lack of Omega-3 has been found to cause a lot of problems. When the body lacks the nutrient Omega-3, it converts Omega-6 (used to make brain cells) into Omega3.
I never could get this vidio to complely load. Some sort of technical difficulty. I am assuming that the girl had a grand mal seizure? Psychiatry has its froundations in the office of the Inquistion. Psychiatry bases norm on Eastern European values. If the average child in Eastern Europe is a thief then they consider that to be Normal. Psyciatry is dedicated to the over throw of American ideas and values. How better to attack then through our children and parents who are trusting?
I feel for the parents, but I question the placement of blame. If the drug was "lethal levels" in her system, then it wasn't inherently the fault of the drug, but the dosage. Taking 100 aspirin will likely kill you, but that doesn't mean aspirin is inherently dangerous.
@audioajunkie The problem is this drug, even in smaller "non-lethal" doses has still caused devastating health problems - including death in children and even adults. Its not merely a case of the dosage.
I think ADHD should be labeled if you are so friggin short of attention span you're a harm to yourself and others. Not a child who perhaps doesn't get enough exercise, or doesn't "sit still." Like someone said what is this so called thing called normal? I am willing to bet if psychiatry went back in time a good portion of us would have been ADHD back in the day. Back then there was no such thing as mentally ill kids. How come? why do the numbers seem to be rising?
People smarter than us have said very very similar things. You're exactly right. Why do the numbers increase? It's benefits driven. It's also sales driven. How have they dealt with 'mental illness' in the past? Simply, and it wasn't much of an issue; usually it was seen as eccentric or a nack or other things. Bottom line: it's bs, just like you say.
@sebkarlsson The problem is we're treating people out of context-they dx based on a laundry list of symptoms, but fail to look at the other obvious causes. Did anyone ever think to look at the big picture- like the boring school curriculum, or the useless teacher in front of the class. I remember fondly when I was in kindergarten, my mother was told by my teacher to put me on a "tranquilizer" because I liked to do cartwheels around the room. Wow a 5 yr old who won't sit still.
@sebkarlsson And you're right it's sales, and benefits driven. I don't believe all of psychiatry is bs- when a person is really mentally ill. But it used to be if you went into a manic episode, you went into the hospital, and you spent time with the doctor. Now if you have anything that looks like a manic episode, you spend a few days in the hospital, and then get sent out the door with a whack of prescriptions, and maybe, just maybe they may even look at your history.
As a result of seeing my family members and relatives suffer, it moved me to the current position I have in studying medicine. That killer in the gym was clearly knowing what he was doing and was a genuinely evil man. Fortunately, he can not harm anyone ever again and I feel horrible for the families and relatives of those women who were killed. Anyone who knows they are doing wrong is clearly not "mentally ill", but a truly despicable person. Sadly, people tend to forget this aspect.
This is pathetic: Because one relative was Dx with PTSD and the other with Substance Abuse you don't believe that schizophrenia, bipolar, phobias, panic attacks actually exist? Is this a joke o some stupidity akin with saying that a person who served as an US Senator faked a birth cert. and managed to graduate from Harvard and become President of the USA? Please, tell me all of this nonsense is going to end with: I WAS JUST KIDDING YOU!!
Since you clearly don't believe my testimony, then I must ask you what do you think of those in medical practice who would agree with my claim that mental illness is basically a misdiagnosis.
Some studies and reports I highly recommend, that I have personally studied, are the works of Dr. David Cohen, PhD; Don Jackson, M.D; Colin A. Ross M.D; Alvin Pam, Ph.D; and Douglas A. Smith, M.D. Those are excellent references to start with, if you want more - I will post other accredited sources. :)

And the original reason he went for "treatment" - all due to the fact he rarely talked much as a child. You need to learn there are victims of psychiatry.
You want my experience with those who are "mentally ill" - I can list several of them. My Uncle was a drug addict for years and as a result damaged his brain so severely, doctors labelled him wrongly as "mentally ill". (Truth was he was an addict and he suffered from actual brain damage) Second case is where my own niece was almost killed on her school grounds and for years couldn't get over the incident, but doctors labelled that as insanity.
If you have such objections against anti-psychiatry - I would like to question you then what do you think of your fellow collegues that differ from the same opinion as yourself?

Dear Parents: I fully understand your pain and your feeling about psychiatry but I would like to ask you to post another video clarifying that it was a wrong DX what killed your child. You know schizophrenia and bipolar exist but ADHD is overdiagnosed. Please, see my video: "ADHD: a real disease and a false epidemic". I hope one day your sorrow will be less heartbreaking.
There is no shred of consistent evidence that proves that schzophrenia and Bi-Polarism and ADHD or ANY mental illness exists. What evidence is there, it is usually conducted AFTER patients have already been taking drugs. After watching your video, it is full of the same statements made by those who IGNORE the actual truth regarding mental illness and diagnosis. You are basically misleading the public by lying.
I would advise you to watch the video 'This is what a psych uses to tell if your 'normal' or not. These psychiatrists and fellow professionals admit the truth, why therefore can't you?
Emily: It is sad to realize that you have fall into the trap of listening ONLY to people who share your frustration. A simple search can show you that mental illness preceded the development of medications. Remember that claiming posession of the truth without scientific credential place you in the same position of the J.W. that refuse blood transfusion or the Taliban that stone to death a woman that was raped. Fanatism can be a sign of mental illness.
Speaking as someone who has studied both medicine and history extensively, I can make the accusation with fact there is proof to prove that mental illness is a concept that was invented by scientists as a method to explain the unexplainable. To this date, there hasn't been any consistent evidence that proves that mental illness do exist. What tests exist that suggest proof are conducted after test subjects have been medicated. There are numerous reports and documents that lend credence to it.
Forgive me if I've got you wrong, I'm just trying to understand what you're saying here.
Are you saying that there aren't tests to show that mental illness exists in a person until after they've begun taking medication? What about thought disorders like paranoid schizophrenia and the like?
There is several cases of study to verify my claim and documents detailing that I've personally seen the devastating effects of what psychiatry has done to normal people from family and friends. They now suffer from chronic health ailments that could have otherwise been entirely avoided. A few cases of reference for you to personally study regarding this can be seen in the works of Dr. Fred Baughman. I highly recommend it as a starter for you to study.
A particular study of interest to both GoddessofHyrule and adhdbipolar is the recent case of Hannah Polling, who was damaged by the administration of 9 different vaccinations when she was an infant. Tragically, it resulted in a type of brain encephalopathy that manifested itself as "autistic'-like symptoms, whereas prior to the vaccinations, she had been responsive, active, and a normal child.
OMG, that happened to me too. I have asperger's thanks to the vaccinations I had when I was a child, but I honestly believe that the antidepressants I'm on are saving my life.
Speaking as someone who has dealt with this topic on both a professional and personal level and having several family members destroyed by psychiatry - I do know what I'm talking about. I would never wish for an innocent, suffering person to be drugged up - only to later suffer from physical health ailments like stroke and heart attacks. I do feel sorry that you have struggled, but there is always a reason to everything.
Emily: Do you realize that all meds have side effects? Hair falls but cancer get cured! Motrin hurt the stomach but heal the joints. Please search the definition of delusion? Have you asked to a functioning schizophrenic how his life was without medication? I have: From delusional homeless to English teacher, married with children. Could go to PA and ask the families of the decesed women if they would have wanted drug treatment for their killer at the gym?
I've spoken to those who have been inaccurately labelled from a variety of "false" disorders, when they later turned out not to be ill. I would highly insist, as you also study child psychology, to refer to the works of those professionals I listed below as a term of reference.
A very sad and very tragic story, thanks for sharing, all i can say are prayers for you both and for the untimely loss of your little child. Be brave always, the fighting spirit in you will help you cope with the future, but you are too right what you say, we are always too trusting to the so called 'professionals' who should 'know better' its a sad situation that comes up time and time again. My thoughts and prayers to you/r family.
what an awfully sad story, these poor parents have to live the rest of their lives with the responsibility/knowlege that they gave this medication to their daughter. perhaps taking her for a walk, or a swim would've been more beneficial in treating her over activity?
It's true and I've seen it written on a scientific research paper recently that exercise and St. Johns Wort could be more effective than any anti-psychotics or any adhd drugs!
Do you see a lot of cures around as a result of these "therapies"? Could it be that one judges the validity of a therapy by the rate of success? Is it possible to really be happy? Is it possible that they don't know what the mind is or how to deal with it? Could they be faking their knowledge? Can something be done about the mind and unhappiness? If you took your car to a mechanic and he couldn't fix it, would he be considered an authority on car repair? Are these questions unreasonable?
Indeed, I was on a celebrity forum and the guidelines claimed that it would avoid controversial subjects, but apparently the topic of anti-psychitry is controversial while pro-psychiatry views are not. Needless to say, I was banned from the forum and quite honestly, I'm glad.
There should be a new law that when a medical psychiatric doctor prescribes their miracle healing drugs, then the doctor should be required to warn their patients that the patient will most likely become horribly addicted to these drugs and possibly have other complications such as changes of eyesight.
thats obviously an error in the posology,i worked in a hospital and this drug has this indication, serves as a help for the kids with ADHD to concentrate f.e.during the classes, but is taken restrictly under the medical, parent supervision, each drug has some adverse effects thats a well known truth,so blaming the drug to cause the death its due to the cronic o acute overdosage.methylphenidate has also a potent influence on the cardiac tissue.well its a sad sorry,i am feeling sorry for her parents
not sure what a *posology* is, but who do you think *prescribed* the chronic or acute overdosage, the DOCTORS. the doctors PRESCRIBE THESE AMOUNTS, and given to her by her PARENTS..
society has broken down, its standerads are gone. We no longer take care of our own problems, we relley on medications to make things better when all we do is hide ourselves and wait to die. This is just one more case proving this point
Here, here. :( I couldn't have better summed it up in more fitting words myself. I think that's the real heart of the matter that society around the world in general is becoming more and more corrupt and when faced with problems, we rely on drugs and dangerous methods, at times, to cure them.
Drugging kids just benefits the pharmaceutical corporations and doctors. When I was a kid I had attention deficit disorder, ADD, ADHD, etc., and my mother just made me run around the house until I got tired + less sugar, less caffeine, and less TV. I'm fine now. No drugs, no Scientology, just common sense.
im talking about in accordance to any statistician, one case out of a million literally has no significance, take an elementary statistics course and you'll know
if it was yourself, or your daughter/sister/mother/father, etc. you wouldnt care if it was 1 in a billion, you would think it had one hell of a significance! i am sure *no one* has ever in the *universe* reacted the same way i did to a host of drugs forced on me, but i dont care, it happened to *ME*, and my life is fucked from it, i would have been better off with cardio toxicity, yes, dead.
right now the psychiatric are making a new "mental ill"...."dont want to take medications" and actually they are making a pill for that. Is all about the money.

Indeed, I was on a celebrity forum and the guidelines claimed that it would avoid controversial subjects, but apparently the topic of anti-psychitry is controversial while pro-psychiatry views are not. Needless to say, I was banned from the forum and quite honestly, I'm glad.

Your right on ! I so agree with you.

Ritalin is in the same addicting drug league as Heroine. Maybe that should bring some people to their senses

'bring some people to their senses'
what are you talking,,,same addicting drug league as Heroine??? explain me if you like.?.?

That has nothing to do with the effectiveness of these drugs, if nothing else, they support and push the society into this state!!

society has broken down, its standerads are gone.

Your mother was very smart

very significant case. just one more case of the abuse of children by the corrupt psychiatric system.

what is this,, one bad case out of a million good ones?
not really statistically significant
bu1letpr00f 5 years ago
statisticaly very significant. Problems like these occure all over, informe yourself!
Strenesse 4 years ago
im talking about in accordance to any statistician, one case out of a million literally has no significance, take an elementary statistics course and you'll know
bu1letpr00f 4 years ago
smartass. I'm saying this occures more than once in a million cases.
Strenesse 4 years ago
if it was yourself, or your daughter/sister/mother/father, etc. you wouldnt care if it was 1 in a billion, you would think it had one hell of a significance! i am sure *no one* has ever in the *universe* reacted the same way i did to a host of drugs forced on me, but i dont care, it happened to *ME*, and my life is fucked from it, i would have been better off with cardio toxicity, yes, dead.
