  • Lol....girrrrrl I freakin love your hair...and your way to tell things...I mean you're not telling us to use this or that... You're telling the 5 needs of natural hair after that let our hair decide what products it likes...:)

  • "co-washin fool" lol love your videos this video is very informative thanks

  • I know you did this video 5 months ago, but it was a much needed video for some of us. I'm freshly BC natural and I needed this like you wouldn't believe. When you explained that most of the things needed for natural hair, most of us already have; it was like a lightbulb when off! lol I mean I can make my own deep conditioner just by adding oils that I already possess... why didn't anybody say that early. Research is a powerful thing and Im learning from others mistakes. Thanks T

  • LOL your video is what I discovered a week or so ago (7 months natural). I hadn’t gone out and bought tons of products cause im cheap ( I’d used giovanni’s line and then I ran out) so I was really trying to find the least/cheapest of products I could use. I came down to shampoo (rarely), co-washer (cheapy), regular condish as leave in, and oils. Everything is under $6 except for the oils and whew am I happy lol.

  • I love this video!

  • @luvyurselfgirl35 Amen to that!

  • very helpful. ice been natural twice and this second time im learning alot more. i may actilually stick wirh it longer. im not a product junkie so rhos jelped me comfirm that i dont have to be. i just nwed to invest in a leave in conditioner and im going to try the evoo mixed in my water bottle to moisturize. thanks for confirming. ur twist r so soft and bouncy. mine look like rjat the first day but dry up after two days so we'll see. thanks!

  • Great Video!!! =) All naturals need to see this!

  • This was SO helpful, thank you! I have been running myself ragged trying to figure all this out and I've been natural since Dec 2010. Can I just tell you that I literally made a list like yours Friday at work?! Thanks for the confirmation. :o)

  • Very help the products can be very confusing thanks alot

  • Very helpful, especially for the newly natural product junkies (ME!)! I enjoy your videos!

  • You are spot on and this is why you are one of by favorite channels-- your minimalist attitude, which is so lacking in the world of naturals. Not only are most of those products not needed, we as black women are just feeding the shark of consumerism and big marketing all of these "natural products"! How much more natural can you get than plain ol' oil and water? The most important lesson for all naturals is to do what works and makes your hair healthy with minimal effort, cost, and products!

  • THank you finally someone that is being very honest and str8 to the point, Yes, because I was that product hauler andi still have that stuff and now! I am just blad for what I have and am proud of what God as giving me, because what works for tha next person doesn't mean that it will actually work for me. Great Video:) and again thanks for you being so HONEST

  • does the nourish and shine have silicone in it?

  • And after all this time, I thought I had to buy a butt-load of products! You have re-encouraged me and my natural hair with this vid! I've be natural since '07 and have been stuck b/w a rock and a hard place as to what to do! You've made it so plain and and simple and it MAKES SENSE! THank You!

  • i <3 this video

realest natural hair care tips Ive heard on here. Ive been transitioning since july (from heat damaged to healthy heat damage free hair) and everyone makes natural hair care seem like its the biggest hassle and that since our hair is "special," we have to buy the most expensive products we can find if theyre natural products. I was a "conditioning fool" like you said and my hair was feeling dry, so now I just do what works for me and keep it simple =)

    i subbed =)

  • Omg how do u only have 5000 views on this video ur so underrated! Ur having so much fun flingin ur hair about lollll

  • greaT VIDEO 101LADYT

  • this is kinda what i do, but i found out that i'm using too much of my styler which is a shea butter mixture. My hair is super soft, but greasy. So, I'll ease up on everything after my shampoo since they all contain some type of oil. But i love that my hair is so soft. Thanks for the video.

  • I have hard water @ my house, would the oils (i.e. olive oil) counteract the "hardness"???

  • @Nise8791 Ive seen this video where this one natural actually goes out and buys big bottles of water and used that on her hair. Either that, or distilling the water might help (im not sure but i know that you can find out if it does through google search) =)

  • @0099396 Thanks for the response Lady!!! I will do some "googling" on that!! :D

  • YOU R GREAT. I did jus like u. I was all over YouTube trying 2 find what I needed 4 my hair. Thought I found the right person until I came across u. You r so right. I was getting their organic regime 4 natural hair & didn't like it. I'm leaving them 4 you. THANK YOU SO MUCH 4 KEEPING IT REAL.

  • Yes, I agree. That's all that's needed. It took me a while to figure it out. Thanks for sharing.

  • All of these products you can find at the dallor store

    Oil

    shampoo

    conditioner

    leave in

    styler

    5$ to do your head!!!

  • I love the simplicity! Some ppl make it so hard/confusing! Just what I needed to see, thank you! :)

  • this video is great! i totally agree with your 5 steps! i do just about the same thing- just diff products.

shampoo: Shea moisture shampoo (target) or Jane carter

conditioner: Shea moisture black soap conditioner or Giovanni

leave-in: shea moisture curl and style milk

    oil: EVOO (always)

    styler: eco styler gel

what more do you need?? lol

  • I'm looking at some of your videos saying..damn why did I see this a month ago. anyway, I figure it out and glad that it only took me 5 months to do so. but in those five months, I've spent hundreds of dollars on natural products that don't work. you have really great videos.

  • Hello I just wanted to tell you how much of an inspiration you have been to me. You are the reason why I decided to go natural. I always thought about it but wasn't sure what I would look like with natural hair. YOU showed me that natural hair can be stylish and real cute lol... thanks alot.... I 'm currently 8 months post relaxer (I'm going to transition for as long as I feel like it lol) Thanks again LadyT

  • I am still trying to build my regimen....so I can stop wondering around blind LOL! Great video...I have to shampoo my hair once a week too:-)

  • u r 2 cute

  • Hi I wrote you a message about what products I should use basically I needed advice lol and I didnt see this tuturial until now and you explain everything lol.... I just want to say thanks.... You inspired me to go natural.... my last relaxer was july of this year Im so excited wish me luck.... God bless and thanks alot

  • @Vivilove82 Omg! I was just going through my inbox! Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. Im so happy that your questions were answered in the vid. If you have specific questions, just shoot me a message. Thanks for watching my videos. I appreciate your kind words from the message! Wow I inspired you to go natural! :) Good luck on your hair journey! Yay for you!

  • i really needed this cause i am this close to having my own beauty supply store. lol!

  • great information!!

  • This was one of the most useful and informative videos I've watch on YT about natural hair. The 5 steps are smart and helpful. Thanks!

  • im so glad i came across this video because when u started at the beginning telling about how u watched so many vids and u felt u had to use all natural things and had to do SOOOO many different things...and thinking i cant use sulfates and so on... this vid was a well needed slap in the face to let me know to slowwwwww downnnnnnn...i transitioned for 1 and a half year and big chopped in July 2011 and i found myself EXACTLY how you were but thanks so merch for getting me back on track..be bless

  • This helps alot.

  • great vid!!!

  • @myaangelo1 Thanks! I was that person too! Buying all of those products for 2in hair! smh

  • Great advice!!

  • Great vid!

  • This was fantastic and something that needed to be said.. Good video!

  • thannnnnnk you. finally in a language that i understand!!

  • @j032ingrid hahaa no prob!

  • i follow the same steps. it helps so much

  • Love this video!

  • Thanks for summing up everything because I was totally confused ... This video was great and thanks for sharing how u build yr hair regimen. I can use it as a base to build my own regimen what would work for my hair.

  • @marysua66 Happy the vid was helpful! Thanks for watching!

  • Great points T! Some people think natural hair means you have to use natural products.. not always the case. I'm 6 months natural... Aussie Moist has worked best for me over all the other 'natural' products I've tired.

  • I agree 100% Because I have tried several products trying to find what works for my hair last relaxer was December 2010 I have found some things on u tube to be helpful and some that made me say i am not doing that and I am finding what works for me so as I approach winter time I am hitting youtube once again to find some at times helpful tips but kudos to you !

  • Great advice and video. This is month 2 for me and I can open up my own beauty supply store with all the products that I have purchased. I need to keep it simple. Thanks.

  • Great video and I agree with what your are saying 100%.

  • Another great video and advice.:)

  • Excellent video! I am currently transitioning, 8 mos post, thinking I had to do all types of techniques to maintain my hair. now I just tell myself "keep it simple sister"!!

  • @Aja1222 Thanks! Yeah girl...keep it simple :)

  • Always on point. Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Chile, we were our own guinea pig. You finally exhaled. Say that. "It was a luxury not a necessity." Make sure the oil you choose breaks down in your hair and not one that's too heavy. Great vid!!!!

  • I totally agree. Last November I was at that stage until April of this year. I stop buying and start using up what I have. I go simle right now. I use the organic things in my kitchen on my hair, mayo, egg, ACV, olive oil, coconut oil, shea butter-exception etc

  • You are so right!!! Thanks for sharing!!!

  • Love this video!! Thanks!! :)

  • Im also a product junkie, and its funny because i was actually already following that regimen but i thought i was missing something lol. Glad to know I can slow down on buying things and be patient!

  • This was a great video! It's so funny b/c I just hit my one year mark (yay) and realized that I had wayy too many products for my hair and I felt overwhelmed and had no real regimen. Now I have a regimen in place that works for me and my natural life is so much less stressful! :) You're right, natural hair should be easy but some of us have let it rule our lives! Great video!

  • @lesgsu Thanks and congrats on 1 year! Yay!

  • I am also a PJ and this vid is just what I been looking for. Thanks so much for the advice and encouragement!! Your hair looks fab!!! Love your vids!! (I did take notes and will be following your advice simple and easy thx again :)

  • @babebrown5215 Thanks! Appreciate you watching!

  • thanks for the video! this definitely helped me because I'm a recovering Product Junkie...I've been natural for a yr & a half now and i've tried a lot of producs bc i see other naturals on YT using it. I've cut back a lot but i was still spending a pretty little penny. this video you made opened my eyes to realize i only need a few products not 20 lol :0) thank you! your hair is gorgeous btw

  • @NaturalHoneyBee Oh no prob! Thanks for watching!

  • Should the hot oil treatment be done before washing hair? and do you have any tips that will stop excessive shedding and breakage? Thanks! :-)

  • Very helpful vid Ty!!!!

  • Oh and SimplYounique posted this on fb as her status..I love when fellow YT'ers support one another.

  • @Chrissy4281 Really??!! wow! I heart Kerry!

  • Fantastic video! Every natural needs to watch this!

  • Great video and it definitely makes a whole lot of sense. Everything you said in the beginning I could relate to, especially having a cabinet full of products that all pretty much are no more than a luxury.

  • Thank you soooo much!! Your hair looks great!! I am starting to back away from so much of the natural hair products cause a lot of them just dont work for me. I did not grow up with natural products and my hair was better then than it is now...lol

  • Yes this was big help...I definitely need to find my staple products for my hair according to your list, and yes that co-washing can be a bit much for your hair. My hair likes to be cleaned...LOL.

  • Big help. Thanks so much.

  • Great video!

  • Hey T do you have a blog?

  • @marsimone1 No I do not

  • Great tips T. I can definitely attest to everything you mentioned when I first became natural.

  • Thanks for the great tips!!!!

  • I am 6 months natural and I now have my regimen down to a science HOWEVER it took me almost 5 months to get there! I so wish this video was around when I did my BC. One thing I can say is I tried to be mindful of NOT becoming a product junkie. I do see how easy this can happen. Thank you so much for posting this.

  • Totally agree! I only use five hair care products, everything you listed with gel as my styler. Wish I knew this when I went natral two years ago. Hated being a product junkie early on,

  • great tips and very informative..I'm newly natural and have rushed out and bought what ever they recommended on the videos, I was starting to get confused, anxious, angry and then I realized I need to find what works best for me....

  • Great Video!!! I think 5 staple items are all you really need to not get confused. And by doing that you can know what items are working, and what aren't. And you can replace them if necessary!

  • Girl I agree... Lol I had to stop myself from going out and buying everything.... That's hard. But w trial and error, u r able to narrow things down. Thanks for the video. I completely agree

  • @fullofkinks Girl I know what you mean! With all of these natural hair products on the market...have to have control! lol
