at the time this aired, no Creed wouldn't have been caught dead on the show, because at that time, there was no Creed. They were broken up and Scott Stapp the lead singer was working on his failed solo career. they didn't get back together until like 2009 sometime. so no they wouldn't have been on the show. as far as Chris, he stuck to who he was, and didn't try to change his image to appease anyone. that's what made him a strong competitor and has made him so successful since.

@DanD3815 He was right though. Creed wouldn't be seen dead on that show. It's a POP show. The show's actually a derivative of England's "Pop Idol" and Rock doesn't really have a place there. It was ok when he was putting his own spin on popular songs or singing pop-rock tracks like he had done before, but when he went down the post-grunge hard rock route with that song it was a step too far in terms of what the show can handle. I love Chris and I love heavy music, but AI is the wrong place.

When legendary groups like KISS and Queen (and MANY others who definitely are NOT pop) are willing to appear, what makes Creed so damn special that they're "above" it? If anything, they're snubbing and ignoring a large fan base. Honestly, judging from the decline in popularity, it wouldn't hurt if they did. Some people are too full of themselves and forget how they got where they are.

Simon didnt even say anything negative about the performance besides it was indulgent, which is just Simon being Simon. He just said it didn't fit the show, which is true because it's a pop show. Hard rock and a dissident attitude doesn't fit in that environment. That's okay though because he was better off not winning. If he did win, it wouldn't have made sense, regardless of his talent.

@TheLastLevel999 Lee dewyze was not in the slightest hard rock, and david cook didn't have a dissident attitude. It's really the attitude and personality that make the biggest difference. Daughtry seemed like he could have cared less about the pop industry and that was his biggest problem if he was planning on winning. Not being pleasant and bubbly, like most of the people on American Idol, is not going to get you far, regardless how good you are.

@cletiger10 creed is one of chris' inspirations. even if he were to pass up creed's sales, (which I honestly doubt) hes not gonna leave a huge mark in the business like creed did. creed was one of the bands that brought back alt. rock in the late 90s. daughtry wouldn't exist if it weren't for bands like these.
