The difference is: the bible/torah says a convert is a full jew. King david was a descendant of a convert. It is a mitzvah, meaning a good deed and a commendment/law for a jew to live in Israel. And Israel is the promised land of the jews, not the promised land of a biological race or group of families. The UN has already made it clear that those settlements ought to be dismantled.
