Reading the WW1 section of the Father of Tank Warfare, Heinz Guderian's, Achtung Panzer. These clips are a great illustration of some of the enemy tanks he describes.
@acvaticlifE Very true, but historically the first of all new technologies are ugly, unstable and inferior in the begining. Look at the first cars, planes, motorcycles, trains and computers all were hideous and weak in their infancy.
im doin ww1 history essay on tank and the like dus the tank have any wepons on it if so what were they it was kinda a stupid guestian buit i need to know
No they just were their for the infantry.for going over fences many of the men in thease tanks had poor ventalation and some men died due to exficiation. The only main weapon was a opening so that they can shoot at retrating germins.
Sorry to be a pedant, but there are a couple of thanks in there that aren't WWI. After 8' 08" there's a Christie light tank (USA), followed by a Fiat 3000 (Italy) - the one that does a forward roll. Other than that, this is very nice.
I know they were'nt that fast when you look at it in numbers...but especially the FT17s fairly shifted :D As for the Marks, that must have terrified the hell out of the German infantry!
That footage is amazing! Where did you find it?

Awesome; easy to understand the 'psychological' effects of tanks on mere 'men' in WW1! Thanks for posting, my students will enjoy watching this.

there are many reasons why these tanks looked like this not to be ugly but to run over the trenches, barbed wire, no forward cannon for ramming.

Those ought to be a rough ride for the crew, just clearing a ditch you could smack your head against something inside the tank.

I stand corrected, WW1 isnt really my theatre, this vid was made from bits left over from my Tank Kills vid. Thanks for the comment.
COALMONK5 2 years ago
You're welcome. BTW, the Christie is after 8' 28", not 8'08" Sorry.
The German tank 'Mephisto' (8'48") still exists. It's in the Queensland Museum, Brisbane, Australia.
