  • brilliant videos.....what a time it was

  • This is why thousands go preserved and operating railway , to get the feel back again.

  • Wow, these old things were rough! I grew up in Class 33 country; the 6-cylinder Sulzers always sounded rather uneven compared to their 8-cylinder cousins

  • With the wind blowing in the right direction , you could hear them before you seen them. I go to Bo'ness to hear one of them now (27001)

  • take a lissten to 24081 at toddington sweet! this one sounds like a spanners in the works!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great video. Thanks for posting.

  • loved the noise of the old sulzers, takes me back to the late 70's and early 80's when i stayed next to the eastfield depot at cowlairs in springburn when all the engines would be sat outside idling and each making their own own unique sound from the clatter of the class 27's to the turbo whistle of the class 20's magical memories indeed even better during the long summer days, the old eastfield depot is long gone now but the memories of those days will live with me to my dieing day.

  • nice vid

  • Nice one, little Sulzers, little (meduim and big) ALCos and 31s, waste of time building anything else really.

  • I love the sound of small Sulzers. Obvious family resemblance to duffs, but somehow without sounding totally dull. As Zontar would say, it sounds like someone's dropped a brick in a cement mixer.

  • Excellent video, thanks for sharing!!

  • Everything from engines to music, cars planes even fu***ng lamposts had character then, why is everything so sterile and boring nowdays?:(

  • I totally agree! All to do with health and safety i suppose, and the fear of being sued.

  • @cjdrange Health and safety!!

  • nice video mate by avonrailfan

  • Scottish Ped!

  • Carlisle Kingmoor at 1:41 to 1:51; still alive and well today thanks to DRS. Shame I was born only a year later after this brilliant clip was taken, but you can't win them all. 5*

  • awesome vid 5*

  • Ahh yes, the spontaneously combustible Mac-rat! funny wee beasties!

  • A great time in rail history but a hopeless time aswell.

  • Indeed a teacup lol! GSW never been the same since the end of small locos

  • Happy days on the GSW - 1240 departure? 1740 usually had a GUV on it aswell

  • When railways were railways

  • Teacup! My Lordz!

  • lovely Sound
