When you are running movie editor, you should see some symbols just to your right, underneath your import window or edit just to your right. One looks like a link chain, the other is a broken link chain. If you hover your mouse over either one says Group, one says Ungroup. As long as your video is highlighted in your bottom window, click the Ungroup symbol, and then you should be able to delete the video music, keep the background music that you put there (since that will be on a separate track)

i want to edit the sound of the video(not uploaded music, but sound of actual video).. i want to edit the volume make it come in and out as i please fade in & out etc. is there anyway to do this... i keep trying but i just hit this road block... if any body can help it would be much appreciated... thank you

I think they mean click on where you want the video effect to start in edit mode and press T on your keyboard, then choose where you want it to end, and press T again. Your video should now be split between those two marks and you should be able to have the effects just in that section

choose the bit you want effects on and using the razor button cut the file into a small section,then highlight this section and apply effects

I use MPEG as my choice. Once you have generated an a MPEG file of your movie, then you can do one of two things. Either upload it (but be warned it will be a large file) or I then tend to open the file in Windows Movie Maker and then use that program to compress the original a bit more. An average 20 to 40MB file will play quite comfortably on UTube - bigger files tend to keep pausing with that annoying crop circle whirring away :)

yeah but what if you have a video file with a song on there but you want to change that song with something of your own, can movie edit change the song with one of your choice?

Yes - when you import the movie you should see a link button which if you click that, will ungroup the video from the soundtrack. Delete the soundtrack and then put in your own one

thanks. I have another question: I tried to export the finish vid to an AVI file. When the movie was exporting to an AVI file, it was taking up to upwards of 40 to 50something gigs. How can I get the VOB to a least about a 1 gig file?

OKi got this a couple of weeks ago and i cant find out what type of file to use to export it to my computer then put it on youtube. I tried the direct upload and it has horrible quality. Which file type should i export it?? plz respond!!

i use wmv at 29.97 frames youtube likes mpeg as well again at 30.00 or 29.97frames per second

magix timeline editing is the easiest, fastest and most efficient way to edit. i love how clips can be moved and they STAY where you leave them.

NOW if they would only put great effects like those in vegas but keep it easy to apply. that'd be the best

I am only guessing since I have been busy :( that you would create the text and then expand your timeline to maximum and reduce the time the text appears so it flashes on and then off

I just got the program and am learning to use it, I've had no problems. It isn't slow, it doesn't crash. You must have software conflicts or not enough resources to do editing. Personally, I have 4GB RAM (XP only recognizes 2.5GB) and 80GB Raptor hard drives x2 in RAID 0 snd 2 Geforce 9400 1GB video cards in SLI. I'm having a little trouble learning the program, but I think it's awesome. Question: If you're not using this program, may I ask what you use? I'm always looking for good software.

It's not my computer speed, my computer is straight out of the box. It has lots of RAM, great specs and performance, and I even closed every unused program/process before running it. It keeps giving me a "sharing violation" or "access denied" error when I am 5 minutes into editing a video, and the program crashes. Obviously you guys received a hacked/older version, or patched it immensely, because on its own this program is definitely not worth $60.

When I add a video file, the audio is fine, but the video plays way too fast, and this makes it out of sync with the audio. What in the sam hill is causing this. It is driving me out of my mind. I can't figure out what the problem is.

Hey, I just got the software, how do you add music?

When you have Movie Editor open, say you have dragged in your video, then expand your timeline (if you cannot see the timeline mode, have a look down the left hand side, and you will see three square buttons. Top one is Scene Overview, middle is storyboard and third one is timeline. When you click timeline you should see Track 1, track 2 etc etc.

and...On track 1 normally is your video - click Import, navigate to your music, and then left hand click on the music, hold down your left button, and drag it down to a free timeline. Then you have music with your video

i know how to speed up and slo down the clips in my videos, but im wondering if theres a way to do it customly. For example if i was going to do a time lapse and needed a video that was 1 hour to be faster then 5x

Sorry I'm not sure about this. Did you mean a continuous video 1 hour long, or clips? I'm still learning too :)

yeah, because i shot an amazing 1 hour time lapse of the lake in my back yard and it only goes don to about 12 minutes which is long for a time lapse, so i was wondering if there was a way to make it any shorter

I dont think Movie Edit can lower it down much more, but Adobe Premiere Elements 7 might be the answer for a time lapse video. Sorry :(

how do you mask a video clip? i want to remove a small part of a video clip and use it in another clip.

Say you have 2 videos - one on one timeline, the other below. Highlight the video you want to reduce or overlay, then click Video FX and choose multi image and then example select 2/1 right and drag that effect onto the video you want to be smaller and appear to the right on top of your existing video
