She still is one of the sexiest women on television. And her voice is absolutely adorable. After all those years, she looks great as ever. One hell of a woman, no doubt about that.
i had a crush on her too, she has a air , well more than a air of sophisticatiion and intelligence about her, above all class some men find that threntening its sexy with out being sexy if you know what i mean i love space 1999 theres more to that show as martin said than realized, i wish american t networks would beoad cast something outside the star trek universe i mean i love trek too but change is good too.
I loved that show. Used to watch it every Sunday on Chicago WGN-TV back in 1975-1976 and it was a awesome science fiction series. Too bad SciFi Channel doesn't have a marathon showing of SPACE:1999 like they had of Land Of The Lost some time ago.
Yes, those who thought her "wooden" in this series simply didn't WATCH the episodes closely, she did ALOT with her eyes. People need to get their head out the potato chip sack and really WATCH, and her panic bubbling under the surface comes through nicely. I suppose many people thought she should act like a typical "woman",... scream and cry in a crisis. Who did they want her to act like? Deforest Kelley? Interesting character, but McCoy was quite unprofessional and a bit of a hot head.
@yandrsupreme indeed there were subtilities british productions to were more chrachter driven than american script driven plots and yes human mannerisms all great directors did that hitchcock believed in it let the face eyes tell a story it will reveal all and like him, he treated audiences with respect knowing he did not have to explain it all in script writing
When i was a lad i had a huge crush on Barbara Bain as Cinnamon in "Mission Impossible", who, to me, was the epitome of sex & sophistication. Hearing her talk some years later about her role in it & "Space 1999" she had lost none of her sex appeal, in fact, that sexy, smoky, sultry voice of hers only enhances it.
I miss this show and most of their shows. Gerry and Sylvia Anderson were absolute geniuses for their time in my opinion, I grew up on this stuff and wish new TV shows would be spawn based on their material.
Yes...her beauty IS timeless and graceless...good line jo! Just watching my fav star again...shameless I am...admit it!...Barbara has been my idol since I was 14...that was many moons ago! She is one talented lady....degree in sociology, dance major, 3 time Emmy winner (first EVER to get 3 straight wins for best dramatic actress!!), star of 2 hit tv series...still playing INTERNATIONALLY!...yes she's a gem!...and I thank you SO much for posting this! Go BARBARA!! We love you !!...jan
when i was only kid even then i knew there was only two types of women i wanted in my life barbara was was and wonder women was the other never did work out for me though :(
What a classy lady. I love that she's smoking a cig on camera. Not that I condone smoking, but it's nice to see a real side of the actress. These days, actors would cringe from showing themselves in this way.
Barbra Bain is awesome. She got some criticism for her acting in the SPACE:1999 series as being too "wooden." Well, Barbra isn't wooden at at all. That's just the way she chose to approach her character, especially in season one: Cold and professional. If you need any proof of her ability to act, just watch her in MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE. In this TV series, she's quite WARM. Some might say HOT. HUBBA-HUBBA!!!
She didn't talk about the changes on the show. The different music, the blue coats and ID badges. The absence of Bergman, Kano and Morrow. The addition of the Maya and Tony Versashe characters, the redesigned Main Mission. The more campy plotlines was not mentioned, as well as the absence of Sylvia Anderson who was replaced by Fred Freiburger.
She is such an amazing women. This was if not the best SCFI series that was ever created

RedheadMetalC 2 years ago
@RedheadMetalC
probably around 1975, while filming of season 2
linuscomet 1 year ago
@RedheadMetalC I would guess 1976. They were into 15 shows and season 1 already hit the air so 76 would be a good estimation

Is she related to Conrad Bain, of "Diff'rent Strokes"? I know they both hail from Chicago, as does Martin Landau.

No, not related. She changed her name.

The sexiness has been passed on to their (Martin Landau and Barbara Bain) daughter Juliette Landau who played Drusilla in Buffy.

yes, this is on the DVD set along with interviews of Landau and Schell.

She's also a hell of a dancer AND has a masters degree in sociology. They both show in her interaction and how gracefully she moves. Quite a lady!

Wow, yeah, she's so much more relaxed, even in an interview, where most actors become wooden.
My fanboyism continued with their daughter, Juliet. Drusilla was AWESOME!
