In a real game the sustain given from E is not needed.

2 points in W compared to 1= better ganking+eventually better speed. His E is rather useless for ganking. Also his Q's slow gets up faster with more attack speed during ganks.

More health on his W= it is less likely to be destroyed.

@TheManyViews i may not be stonewall but a general tanky build with a trinity force as your first Core item is good since trinity is the best item on skarner, from there going with defensive items is good since it works well with skarner. To top it off i usually go with 0/21/9 masteries.

what's more important with jungle skarner (taking into account ganks and jungle time)

because i used these runes the entire time i played skarner

3 AS red, rest armor pen

armor yellows

magic resis blu

AS quints

now i tried the same runes except that its 1 AS quint and 2 tier 2 movement speed quints (ip poor) and i got 3:40 time as well..

Also, with a (hard) leash on blue you can take Regrowth + 1 HP easily. Love your guides.

@ThePaintedHope He is still a really strong pick post nerf, I suppose he might need the second blue depending on how you build. With a philo you are fine, but some people go wriggles.

As for the ult cooldown, it has a nerf but not really that bad. You aren't gonna use it twice in a fight so why does it matter? Besides, if you jungle, your passive makes your ult go down, so it becomes faster off cooldown.

@eMixTape what a Oddfan, seriously taking that build and comparing it to another build such as this is just plane stupid. E give bonus dps and self heal, making boots or regrowth pendant much more viable. also a 2% movement speed boost for an extra level and 5% attack speed bonus per level is just horrible compared to 80 extra damage in ganks, which helps a lot. plus with it you can run boots which is stronger than 2% movement speed extra, you single minded sheep.

if you go vamp cepter, you'll need much more offensive masteries. which may be counter productive to playing tank, or could get you messed up if someone comes for you in jungle.

i always jungle with skarner, i go 0/21/9 my runes are 10 armor pen, 13 amor 21% attack speed and i start with doran sword, i tried cloth armor+5 pots, vampiric scepter, boots+3pots, and dorans sword is the best by far, ofc i dont build wriggle's; well that's the way i jungle :D

I basically main jungle Skarner, and I can easily clear the jungle with great health at the end, with Doran's Blade, or Vampiric Scepter.

I think that since the jungle is now less of a challenge of killing everything, and more a challenge of speed, that I really like Doran's blade, and I'm planning on trying Longsword and Boots.

Thoughts?

@rodrikfrostbane let me answer for you. No, Magic Pen does not contribute anything for jungle and tbh, hybrid pen runes aren't worth it. People have done the math and it is weaker than sticking to one pen+ap/ad(depending on the pen).

I jungle skarner starting boots + 3 pot, i clear all the jungle (Get to lvl 4) and end up with 60% hp. It's much easier to gank starting boots.
