  • Poutine is my favorite! I would probably eat these on my poutine.

  • Hi, I am growing seeds for the first time. Any suggestions how to prevent them from moulding? Thanks

  • @puhutes Well make sure everything is cleaned with a bit of bleach, and water them every day. besides that, should be fine

  • You should try pea's. After the initial soak , one more rinse and you can eat them. They are delicious too. Check out sproutpeople. I have no affiliation, but it is by FAR, the best place to get the seeds and also they easiest sprouters. I have 2 of them going 24/7

  • @amusingisthedawn Well thanks....I haven't tried the bigger sprouts much

  • Basically "Direct sunlight" cooks seeds hence avoiding it is a good idea

    Other-wise - cool vid

  • @roblimusic Yeah it would steam them....dry them too eventually .

  • Nice video. I am growing my first sprouts.

  • @GoingOrganic1 Great! If you have question or problems let me know!

  • @GoingOrganic1 I'm growing my second! I'm just starting off with this and I am having a field day! : )

  • @Lavenderrose73 I've been growing them for 4 months now. I am hooked! It is great to have fresh sprouts to eat.

  • @GoingOrganic1 I hear ya. I have this (dinky little unprofessional) video I've been thinking about responding to this one with. I want to put it through Movie Maker to weed out the screw up-able pieces that just take up time. Lol

  • great video, thank you

  • @maha77 Thanks and thanks for watching!

  • I love alfalfa sprouts. I'm sprouting some now along with some broccoli sprouts. I also like to sprout daikon radish sprouts, these have a bite.

  • @VivianRinSC I didn't know you could get daikon radishes sprouts.

  • @jihadacadien After trying a "hot" mix of sprouting seeds, I learned the hot part was from daikon seeds. So I bought more daikon seeds at the health food store. I sprout just a few with my alfalfa seeds. They're bigger and pack a nice punch.

  • @VivianRinSC nice...I mix alfalfa and boccoli now....it's a nice mix.

  • hey,

sweet video! can i put my sprouts into the fridge after they have sprouted??? will this stop the process of any nutrients or whatever??

  • @jamiemason007 I don't see why it would....but you can store them for a few days....maybe just dry the root a little if they are wet. i do it and it works great!

  • @jamiemason007 Keep in mind these are very much alive and can still grow some and rot. Mine has never kept more than a few days without starting to spoil in the fridge.

  • That looks YUMMY and so very pretty. I love your videos. Thank you for stopping by my site as well. HapPY SRING GARDENING... almosthere!

  • @BGgardenLive Yeah it is coming soon!!! and thanks a lot!

  • My wife has recently grown cress seeds in a similar way but just on moist tissue in an open tub. She has to make sure it is kept wet every day. Your method looks good, too: we will have to give it a whirl next time. The comments you add during the reel are a great addition - well done.

  • @twausten Yeah it is pretty easy and you can just pick and eat! I might try a bigger pot next time tho! Cuz I eat those in a day LOL

  • We just ordered our seeds from Vesey's and West Coast Seeds just today... we have sprout seeds in our order too. I love sprouts!!! MMMmmm!!! :) -Randy

  • @GettingThereGreen In the vid I said they grew without sun....but they grow even faster with sun! ( I think Spring is here allready). The pot in this video is gettin filled with sprouts. Such a fun thing to do!!! Hope you try it out with your sprout seed. Oh and did you know broccoli sprout are awsome against cancer!?

  • good stuff :-)

  • @northernpike56 Thanks!

  • man that looks cool. I always wondered how to do that. I remember the "sprout health food craze" back in the day, and I always thought sprouts just looked cool. Now I wanna eat em!!! Thanks my man.

  • @berean73 No problem I really hope you try it. It taste better than lettuce in a sandwich ...well in my opinion. And I think that craze stopped when a batch of sprouts killed people because it contained ecoli. Another reason of growing it at home

  • Nice tips

  • @Kamoyaker Thank you

  • Great Show!!! 5 *****'s...

  • @TPoutine Thanks a lot!

  • sprouts make great sandwichs

  • @omegahpla So far I only used them in an egg sandwich.....but you're right, I've seen people just put sprouts in a sandwich.

  • Couldn't stop laughing at the "No, it's not a tumble weed". Now I want to sprout alfalfa. I'd probably just continuously snack on it during the day.

  • @ShadowVampira well you really should since it's so easy and full of vitamis. Plus I'm sure it'll grow fine in NY if mine grew on the counter on a cloudy week.

  • For some reason, things sprout fine in jars for me. It's when I have to shove a seed in soil, it grows and then dies. Sad, really.

  • @ShadowVampira well I just sprout my seed in the ground. It gives a shock to the sprout when you transplant it. So just eat the sprouts out of the jar ;)

  • Lol, I didn't mean that I sprout it in the jar then shove em in dirt. I mean when I try sprouting something in dirt, it grows a bit, then it dies. And I can't figure out why.

  • @ShadowVampira Ah ok..well.....maybe too much heat, too much water, not enuf water....not enough real light of from a ''sun" lamp.....ever tried a hot pepper...they grow fairly easy indoor and self polinate

  • :( I thought tomatoes were easy to grow, and so far, that's not proving successful to me. I really love tomatoes so I'm trying so hard to grow them. If it doesn't work out, I'll just buy a tomato plant and hope it doesn't die. And maybe I will grow hot peppers.

  • @ShadowVampira They are easy to grow, but they need warmth and sunlight. lettuce also grow indoors. but you might want to get a light it would save you lots of trouble if you don't have a lot of real sun ;)

  • :) Ok. Thanks. Can't wait for spring then.

  • @ShadowVampira also look it up on youtube to see what others are growing inside and how they're doing it.

  • @ShadowVampira you may be experiencing what is called "damping off." Which can be cured by covering the seeds with a bit of vermiculite instead of potting mix.

  • @CearaQC Oh yeah? never heard of it I'll check it out!

  • Yeah once damping off happens, it spreads like fire and wipes out all seedlings. And its a type of soil fungus that acts fast. Seedlings that look great one day will flop over the very next day and turn to mush.

  • @CearaQC I guess it happens in contaminated soil...and must be hard to detect I guess.makes me want to take my plants that already sprouted out of the green house LOL!..seriously tho ;) I think I'm doing it tonite! Thanks for the info!

  • No I don't think you have to take out all your stuff! Just give them some fresh air every day. Have you seen any die off yet? Don't panic yet. If you're like me you're checking on your "babies" every day. We have a few broccoli and cabbage seeds in trays now, along with some new flowers I traded through the mail last fall. It's still too early for most vegetables for us.

  • @CearaQC TOO LATE! I'm doing it! lol Some have two leaves so they're tuff enough for real life! ;) Ya know Spring will be early this year ;)

  • Those are great on a roast beef sandwich....Does anyone know why a brussel sprout is called a sprout? Just wondering

  • @TheUrbanOutdoors I have no idea! Would've make sense if it was called a cabbage sprout......

  • OMG I have got to try this Ive heard of them but been 2 chicken to try it but im going to do it I will keep you updated

  • @nehketah1978 Oh you really should it's so easy! as long as you keep them moist they'll sprout!

  • That's awesome man! I want to try some of those..Bean sprouts too. I hear they're a lil trickier to do though. I'm going to see if I can sprout some grapefruit seeds too this week. : D

  • @theGHETTOMAN1 They can be but you can buy a special tray for sprouting. Or make one with a strainer. I'm not sure if you can eat grapefruit sprout tho ;)

  • Cool! Oh yeah!! Grapefruit sprouts would be SO gross eh? HAHA The whole sprout thing reminded me of what I want to start.lol I need to buy a ton of containers and soil now.. <: o oh yeah, and another rack! hehe it never ends! ; D

  • @theGHETTOMAN1 Nope it never does! before you go buying, check out stuff you can reuse..it'll save money and the planet! ;)
