Within the brief hours of your life here on earth, you gave me faith in the darkest hours; you shall live in my memory until the call of my own destiny. Take thy sleep brother Mark.
This sounds strange but after not listening to riot for a while, I have had a strong intrest to listen to there music for the past few days. I even went to Mark Reale's website a few days ago for the first time. I just found out right now that he has passed.
RIOT = Classic Quality Metal as a listener you will never be let down by any of Riots cd's especially the first early 5 Speranza and Forrester releases. Dimeo and Moore are definately bad asses in their own rights as well. If you havent discovered Riot you have sorely missed out on ONE OF THE BEST BANDS ON THE PLANET!!
Its amazing that this band is from New York Who would have thought I have Fire Down under and this Album too.I thought they were a British Metal band. They are great they sorda remind of Tokyo Blade.
@super7fanboy wow do you know the answer to my question??? btw are you a riot fan what is so funny... did i mis something??? apparently you do not know were i was going with this post, you must not watch vh1 classic..
by asking them dumb question you might be able to put on the spot light again... yea i know exactly where the been... Shine On, Sons of Society, Through the Storm, Army of One, just to name a few...
This song is ridiculously ahead of it's time. Riot deserve more credit for being innovators of power metal. This sounds like what you'd get if you mixed Helloween with Deep Purple.
this song live is 10 times heavier!! fucking classic song, my band will redo this shit, this should be on the radio everyday, SHINE SHINE ON!!! THRU THE DARKNESS AND THE PAIN SHINE SHINE ON, WARRIOR!!!
@GodMacabre well sir lords baltimore kingdom come is pretty heavy and metal at its time but sabbath ofcourse in my opinoin was the heaviest full on metal band.
@dochdochdoch, Riot had a few reincarnations, The old stuff with Guy Speranza on vocals was straight ahead hard rock, amazing stuff.. The first three albums are great, especially 'Fire Down Under', that's most people's favorite. After that, they had a few albums with diff. vocalist, not that good, more glam-like. Then then came back with full force in 1988 with a new singer & made my favorite album 'Thundersteel'. That's some awesome heavy metal right there, check it out!
All albums are pretty easy to get online, except 'Narita', the 2nd one.. I own all of them except that one, & the Mike DiMeo albums (mid 90's to a few years ago), theyre not that great. Riots reformed with old Thundersteel line-up tho now, Tony Moore on vox & all. Im sure its for touring only, no album lined up so far, & no N.American dates either, despite them being from NYC. Sucks.
I couldn't believe this song was from '77 when I first heard it, just listen to the riff, the solo and the drum beat, incredible, this is almost speed metal... Plus the lyrics, only Thin Lizzy's "Emerald" comes to mind when it comes to epic lyrics this early... These are the moments when I regret being born in 1987 in Serbia and missing out on all this quality music, thanks for uploading \m/
X2 if you like Riot don't check into the Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame, listen to UFO, Diamond Head, Thin Lizzy, Budgie....great stuff and HORRIBLY UNDERRATED bands, i hope one day they'll get the recognition they deserve
They won't ever get the recognition they deserve , that is what WE are here for, and WE are a dying breed......And FUCK THE HALL OF SHAME......I don't think kids today could handle the 4 bands you mentioned all at one time, Quality Overload.....It's Sad and Getting Worse i hate to say......
Check out "Phenomenon," "Force It," "Lights Out," and "Obsession." Those were their best albums, they also feature Michael Schenker on guitars...very good 70's hard rock/metal!
those albums were quite brilliant yes, but the true power of UFO's sound was best displayed on their final outing, the live album Strangers In The Night, a true accolade of 70's hard rock
not knocking this, but have you guys ever heard Deep Purple. This song is an utter & complete rip off of Fireball. 1970. Guitars, and Vocals sound the same as well.
It has it's similarities, but this is RIOT and I think it's in a different lead from Deep Purple. They were the greatest with Guy Speranza and I say started going downhill after Thundersteel with Tony Moore.
OMG! I never thought they were around this far back! Always had their own special sound. Amazing stuff! But WTF is the deal with the weird owl/kitten/humanoid hybrid in their album covers, it frakkin gives nightmares.
i'd really like rereleases of these albums, they're very hard to find in the place where I leave... however imho riot have invented heavy metal... even more than judas priest
RIOT is a kick-ass rock/metal bands but not all people know them.. this tracks is one of my faves.. u can look for AXEL rudi PELL covering it.. it's also superb! because the original song itself is superb dude
Guy was one of the best singers hands down he will be sorely missed I wish Mark would release some of the stuff they worked on in and around 1998 I hear its pretty incredible stuff. Seen em in San Antonio in 2003 at a Bike Fest Kicked ass but still miss Guy and Rhett. Nothing against Mike and Tony all of Riots singers are high calibur vocalists in their own rite. Oh well if all the metal heads of the world eventually find the first 4 Riot Cds there purpose will have been done. Long live Riot!
