  • A 54 minute video of this game is absolutely fantastic. I haven't seen the entire video yet, but I suppose it covers every single feature in this game. I don't really like the voice of PB Bear in this game as much as in the animated videotapes. I noticed the music in this game was also used inside the episodes I uploaded, which really makes me want to get a copy of the game so I can upload every song in it. Maybe you'd like to do me that favor?

  • @ILookAtBadStuff I think I've shown everything. I don't know for sure though, as I saw things I haven't seen before recording this! Anyway, I'll prepare the upload in a few minutes. The CD-ROM actually has quite a lot of data!

  • @ILookAtBadStuff And PB Bear isn't the worst of them neither! Fast forward to around the middle and notice that Dermot the Dog has been given the derpiest voice in existence!

  • @GregsAnimation Yeah, after seeing the entire video, I really can say that Dermott's voice is really bad. Dermott's voice in the animated videos were much better and make Dermott more unique instead of getting the stereotypical long-eared hound voice.

As for Hilda, her voice was also notably annoying yet cute at the same time. The way she narrates some pages of the story sounded like she can't ever help but let out so many stereotypical hen noises.

  • @ILookAtBadStuff I think she was placed on those pages specifically TO make those noises. Yeah.

  • @GregsAnimation I think that's also so that Lucy the Lamb could say the word "box" often with her trademark pronunciation of it. Baaax!

  • @ILookAtBadStuff Good grief! Both the game and the bear are quite awesome, but JuniorAdventurer has got quite a point too!

  • I never really liked the games by DK as a kid. They always seemed so condescending and junky to me, likely due to me being used to the high quality of Humongous Entertainment's releases.

  • @JuniorAdventurer I first played this LONG before I played anything by Humongous (This was my first interaction with a computer!) so I didn't really have any standards to compare with. Putt-Putt Enters the Race was one of the first CD-ROM games I had with my "Fancy new" 486, and with that I never really looked back, until recently, anyway. The graphics are nice though. Can you believe this is 256 colours!?

  • @GregsAnimation The graphics do look pretty good, actually, for 256 colors. It reminds me of how Disney was able to fit the colorful world of Toy Story into that small of a palette for its Animated Storybook and still make it look as good as the movie did.

  • @JuniorAdventurer I want to see that!

  • @GregsAnimation Yeah, I'm still figuring out how to record the game. If people won't complain about the sucky midi, though, I think I'll be fine with making a video of it.

  • @JuniorAdventurer Sucky? Well, just because YOU didn't grow up with a classic Sound Blaster...

  • @GregsAnimation Well, I think the midi would sound perfectly fine if it weren't for it being played through a VM. I can tell Micro$oft spent very little time perfecting the midi emulation, though, since there is a HUGE amount of static that shouldn't be there when it plays. They didn't even give me the option of choosing a different sound card, even if I could find the drivers. Since it's my only option, though, I'll probably record it in the VM.

  • @JuniorAdventurer I've seen NTVDM's SB emulation, so yeah. I doubt it's very good. I SAY LATEST DOSBOX SVN!!!
