Cool! Looks like you all had a blast. I was actually born a few days before this in San Antonio and was brought home during the storm. I always found that very interesting. :) You just don't associate southern Texas with snow!
I wish I was around when snow came to San Antonio. I have never seen the place covered with snow b4. I wish I was born in the 70s or early 80s so I could have seen it.
I lived in San Antonio during this snow! I was 14, and I still have a cassette tape of the radio deejays talking about how the city was shut down by the snow. I still remember crunching through the snow up Evers Rd., throwing snowballs at cars...sigh...what a wild winter!
I hate cold with a passion and I was born in 1984 in San Antonio (not far from Sea World). God knows this and gave me over a foot of snow to screw with me
yea same here castillo houston is expected to rain at about 9 am then around 12 a wintry mix of rain and snow and then finally around 3 it starts to snow until 3 am =] forcasted 3 inches
I totally remember this!! I was 5 and living just north of downtown S.A., and I believe I was due to report back to school the week this occurred but obv everything was shut down so I couldn't; Mom and I stayed at/close to home while Dad braved the odd trip out in his van (which looked a lot like the van in this video) to the nearby Handy Andy for groceries and Ace Hardware for other supplies I built my one and only snowman that year. Ah, memories.
Haha I thought that looked familiar. I was born that year. Thanks for posting, its pretty crazy to see this knowing that I was likely still in the womb about 6 miles in town from there.
This is a great video! I lived at Wurzbach and I-10 during that time. The whole city shut down. LOL Thanks for posting this. I've been looking for photos/video of the '85 snow for a while but there aren't that many images out there.
Glad you enjoyed it...wish the video was a little better, without the "rainbow" effect. Hopefully we will see another snowfall of at least a few inches one of these winters!
I've visited San Antonio in mid-October, and it was till above 90 degrees. Snow like this must be the northern equivalent of a massive blizzard.

I was conceived when my parents where snowed in. It matched me being born in October. This is so cool. I hope my parents had some fun too.

Yes, it was a fun time! Maybe with this being an El Nino winter, we will finally see more snow for San Antonio again!

I didn't even exist and still lived in a wonderful communist worker's "paradise", although we had snow like this all the time there.
Now I live in San Antonio and wish we got crazy snow like this!! I know for sure that I would have as much fun as you guys did!
Thanks for making the video and sharing it with us!!

Hang in there...if we can get rid of the La Nina pattern this year, hopefully we will get more moisture next winter and have a chance for snow.
