  • I'm really loving your videos. They are helpful. Pulling out the 450D made me happy (that's what I shoot with...holla, newbie photographers!!) - it's nice to see him emphasize skill rather than gear.

  • love the tips thanks so much..i only have the 50mm lens and now i feel confindent using it..

  • I've see tons of these videos lately. They're generally great but they all lack of one thing... Let's take this grt vid.i LOVE when he pulls out the 450D. Bert shoots some great pics. What he needs to tell us though is what the settings are on the camera. Shutter-speed, aperature, ISO, white balance.

I any of you outthereknows anyone like Bert that actually throws these data in, please let me know. I'll be a fan instantly...

  • @LarsMobilenationDk That's not the point of his vids, that's the stuff you need to learn for yourself.

  • @choobracer Exactly. This is one of the comments i wish i could delete. Luckily i have developed very much since i wrote this comment. I was just beginning back then, i loved the videos from Mr. Stephani but being a newbie i was frustrated not knowing what to set where on my 500D.

I totally aggree with you now.

    ;)Lars

  • @LarsFotogeekDk Know what you mean, I was on the same place once.

    Live forever.

  • Magic, keep the vids coming please. Thanks.

  • Bert, are you still producing "confession of a photographer?" Or is this your new episode?

  • my idol!! lol hes brilliant!!!

  • great work!!! I have been watching your videos from shot time only, but now I am your fan !!!

  • What is this song?

  • Great stuff... I love the tips.

  • "Time to look like an idiot with coordination-problems" :o)

    Bert, you're the best!

  • I love your work and tips. My images have improved greatly since watching you a year ago.

  • Great Vid Bert. I too have the XSi and 50mm 1.4 combo. I'll try that out on a shoot this weekend. :-)

  • I have one question about hit techniq i see on your pictures! Are you using a lightmeter aparat first before shooting to get the best apature and so on? Because i would like to know how you get the person so light and the background soo dark! Love it! But i have experiemtn but cant get the resultat.. everything gets dark :(. Is it something special about your expensive camera?

  • he says you don`t need expensive equipment...

  • This just goes to show you don't need an expensive multi flash set up in a state of the art studio to get great results.

    Great video!

  • p.s. Great music, too. Who are all these artists/bands?

  • Bert - you are a magician. Great vids.

Would like to see you talk about your post production techniques sometime.

  • This video is great! I always have problem with lighting and ISOs, since M pretty new to photography. Your videos help a lot, because it is so simple

  • thanks bert, i really learn a lot from your videos!

  • Your video are awesome Burt!!! I didn't notice until now but it looks like you often shoot from the side of the face with the shadows. This whole time I've had often huge nose shadows spanning across faces. It makes sense now that I think it through. Is this in fact what you do?

  • Thank you very much for the video!

  • another sick pics bert, I think i know the basic camera settings on this one so i'ma try to do it & i might experiment something new...

  • Hi Bert. Do you mind me asking how you get that 'vignetted' look with the picture getting darker towards the outside of the frame? Also the contrasty look between light & dark areas in the centre of the frame? Do you do this in post? Thanks!

  • My guess is that it's Adobe Lightroom's Vignette feature.

  • It's probably Adobe Lightroom. All that you describe is possible in that program.

  • As always, great work!! Thank you so much.

  • Yay He use a Canon EOS 450D just like mine :)

  • i believe it was a 1d or 1ds

  • crap i just commented that before i seen the 450d come up on the screen... sorry

  • Just goes to show that you don't need a lot of expensive equipment to get a result.

    Thanks for sharing.

  • his processing skill is what makes the images looks amazing :). Props on that .

  • Bert has stated that he is not that good in Photoshop(episode8). You can get shots like his straight out of the camera. No photographer wants to spend hours in front of a computer editing pictures, cropping is about it.

  • Watch the way Bert is holding the camera at 2.12. I just learned something new.

  • he's using a lens baby, listen...

  • genious! many thanks for sharing!
