I'm really loving your videos. They are helpful. Pulling out the 450D made me happy (that's what I shoot with...holla, newbie photographers!!) - it's nice to see him emphasize skill rather than gear.
I've see tons of these videos lately. They're generally great but they all lack of one thing... Let's take this grt vid.i LOVE when he pulls out the 450D. Bert shoots some great pics. What he needs to tell us though is what the settings are on the camera. Shutter-speed, aperature, ISO, white balance.
I any of you outthereknows anyone like Bert that actually throws these data in, please let me know. I'll be a fan instantly...
@choobracer Exactly. This is one of the comments i wish i could delete. Luckily i have developed very much since i wrote this comment. I was just beginning back then, i loved the videos from Mr. Stephani but being a newbie i was frustrated not knowing what to set where on my 500D.
I have one question about hit techniq i see on your pictures! Are you using a lightmeter aparat first before shooting to get the best apature and so on? Because i would like to know how you get the person so light and the background soo dark! Love it! But i have experiemtn but cant get the resultat.. everything gets dark :(. Is it something special about your expensive camera?
Your video are awesome Burt!!! I didn't notice until now but it looks like you often shoot from the side of the face with the shadows. This whole time I've had often huge nose shadows spanning across faces. It makes sense now that I think it through. Is this in fact what you do?
Hi Bert. Do you mind me asking how you get that 'vignetted' look with the picture getting darker towards the outside of the frame? Also the contrasty look between light & dark areas in the centre of the frame? Do you do this in post? Thanks!
Bert has stated that he is not that good in Photoshop(episode8). You can get shots like his straight out of the camera. No photographer wants to spend hours in front of a computer editing pictures, cropping is about it.

This just goes to show you don't need an expensive multi flash set up in a state of the art studio to get great results.
Great video!

My guess is that it's Adobe Lightroom's Vignette feature.
abelafonte 3 years ago
It's probably Adobe Lightroom. All that you describe is possible in that program.
