I played this song a lot when I was in the 5th grade. I saw a nightmare on elm st 4 too many times in the theaters!!!! Retro song. I even did this song, lip lip syncing in class for a show we were doing.
Great Song, but unusual to have sucha pleasant song in NOES 4, altough this is one of the better freddy movies it doesn't seem if they had much intentions too make freddy scary but only a jokster, atleast he's still being cruel
@Evropae Or Party Of Five....Oh My God, Neve Campbell sould've been in one of the Nightmare movies with her sexy ass. All in favor of a Nightmare/Scream crossover, show of hands! lol.
I love nightmare on elm street, it definately had decent music scene transaction.
But the artwork for the covers where just awsome..I love the way they all looked I prefer the video art covers to the DVD real life pose covers. To bad the seventh send off was mediocre at best compaired to the rest of the series...especially that remake...Ah, well. At least it didn't spit on the franchise like what happend to the silent hill series with home coming.
This soundtrack is very modern, even today (Y) I still remember some of the music used and not used in the film, many people still listen to this music music and I ask myself why ?. Yes its a good soundtrack and yes the movie series done excedenly well, but maybe thats why because of a six letter word: F.R.E.E.D.Y, and this music not only reminds the fans of freddy, but the films and maybe the era they grew up in... the 80s.... BEST DECADE EVER!!!
Because it was a blockbuster hit, everyone wanted to know what these songs were at the time. It gave the Divinyls and Oconner more American exposure, O'conner released the Lion and the Cobra the SAME year, Tempermental was released by the Divinyls a year or less later, which was their first American produced record.. the second was the self titled album with the Touch Myself song.
@Faelsun Hate to point this out but the Divinyls had a thriving career and a long list of hits in Australia well before the elm street 4 sound track ever saw the light of day. To this day the best music they ever produced was prior to this sound tracks release and unless something changes they'll always be remembered for their hits of the late 70's/early 80's.
They don't woe anything to this sound track what so ever.
YES they do , being big in Australia is one thing but Kylie Minogue was huge over there for years and no one in the states knew who the fuck she was. Barely any teenager in the States knew who the hell The Divinyls were till they were promoted more in the late 80s. Actually they weren't well known at all until the Touch myself song came out during the Grunge era. Im not saying the later stuff was better, but they will only be remembered for their early stuff in Australia where people remember it
@Faelsun You do realize that having a career in music isn't defined by how many countries you are known in right? The bottom line for the Divinyls is that no matter if Backs to the wall or any exposure in the US or not it had almost no impact on their already well established career in music. That one song is little more than a foot note and as such they owe a grand total of ZERO to that movie and the exposure it gave them in the US.
@Faelsun The sad thing about the US music industry is that you guys have so much of your own crap going on over there you reguarly miss a ton of genuinely kickass music from around the rest of the world. It's no ones fault thats just the way it is but don't for a second presume that cracking the US market means a band suddenly has some kind of legitimate career.
Its a little more than that I'm afraid the U.S. Media market is huge anyone would be crazy not to try to tap into it. While I agree there is plenty of good music not many people know about. Most artists would be more than happy to tap into the U.S mainstream market simply for the recognition and money.
I think the better bands crack the U.S market anyway so its not really an issue, its just a matter of production. Thank god, because I need the Clash, the Cure and Ladytron.
@Faelsun uh, maybe the Divinyls owe it to this, but O'Connor was already well known from her album 'The Lion and the Cobra' (1987) and had (still does) the best female voice in rock. She was going to be popular regardless.
classic....

Movies today have pretentious tuneless garbage that people think is so 'out there' cos a DJ with a stupid name is on the writing credits.
