so sad to see a hand full of people hanging on to an outdated technology and hoping that it would not die, this must be some kind of a disorder or a sickness. it's too bad. i wish you well.
@SaGruenwdt Wrong, i have heard plenty. i have a challenge for you, if i take your favourite LP and make a copy on a CD-R, using high end equipment, and compare them, will you be able to tell the difference between the two?
@CDISBETTER since most actual cds suffer badly by loudness war, this is surely the best way to do it. get the LP and make a CD out of it. better then the actual CD. this is my point!!! ;o) but still then there is something missing. the feeling of watching the musik running!
@SaGruenwdt Loudness war is the reason why Vinyl IS superior to CDs. And let's say if from this moment on there will no track or album be released on vinyl anymore, then I would still be buying wax, because nearly all my favourite music came out on vinyl :-P
Today, in mainstream clubs CDs definitely took over...at least here in austria. But "underground" (Or for example in the D'n'B Scene) DJing using vinyl is still the way to go...and I think this won't change.
@CDISBETTER ... put it like this , when playing digital through a big rig its very clear and crisp, the hi-hats are pretty thin and when you are into the red its pretty obvious . When using vinyl there isnt the same clarity but the sounds just feel better( i mean feel better as they blast from the system ) ,snares have a better bang and hi-hats especially have a better sound. and bass just has more weight ,undeniably . My friend who owns the rig argued digital ..i played and changed his mind !
the fact that Technics stopped producing their turntables just shows that its not very big anymore.... still, It wont die, and I'll keep collecting records till the day I die
Since this documentary was first screened three years have passed and actually shown an increase in vinyl sales , which is great for vinyl lovers who choose this quality format . we all have personal taste in music but the cd will not last well over one hundred years like the vinyl it may be old but no other sound is warm rich and deep. you do need a good amp speakers and turntable and always bu ya good stylus set up once that you are hooked for quality music vinyl collecting is fantastic .
The U.S. is experiencing a vinyl "revival" at the moment. New records are relatively expensive (compared to cds or mpfrees) but millions of older records can be purchased for a buck or two in used bins. So vinyl is an inexpensive alternative to discover old music; I wouldn't know about all this music made before the 70s without digging through thousands of stacks in thriftstores and record shops.
