    I have been doing 14 workouts about 3 for each body part, tricept, back, legs, shoulders bicept chest but someone told me thats too much and i can do 4 or 5 workouts with 4 sets each with 8-10 reps which is better help pleasee the workouts the 5 i would do are

    Bicept Curl

    Tricept Press Back

    Dumbbells chest press

    Standing side lateral raises

    Squat & Arnold Press

    if you have other tips please feel free to teach me

    i only have dumbbells though

  • only you know what the best routine is. What I do, is everyday, a different muscle e.g. monday: abs, tuesday tricept etc. This way, you muscles have a whole weak to recuperate and grow hard instead of soft, but if you do this, you must make sure that you really destroy that muscle, or it will not work.

  • I recommend you try one body a day work one part out rigorously and give them time to heal. Remember to eat alot of protein diets to repair your muscles.

  • u dnt need anything just do pushups situp crunches superman and legups thats all u need to do. 4 the pushups i wood do 200 a day but break it up if u need like do 50 in the mornin 50 in the after noon (12 pm) 50 in late after noon(2-4) and 50 at nite (6-10)

  • well all u do is strength , where's the cardio? u should be doing 5-6 cardio and 2 strength training each week... just go to exercise tv and look up exercise that combines both cardio, that speed up metabolism

  • newbie mistake #1 you don't develop ripped abs from doing ab excercises.. A low carb diet and high intensity training cardio removes excess fat to show developed abs.. EVERYONE HAS A SIX PACK, you just cant see them...after that you do core excercises to strengthen and develop muscularity.. not just your abs or the front of your core..includes the lower back, obliques and intercoastals.. that's how you do it..

  • what are the best  high intensity cardio exercises?

  • 1. sprinting on track

    2. sprinting on tredmill @ 25+ incline

    3. jumprope

    4. elipticle

    5. stationary bike

    All should be done all out for 20 sec. stop 10 sec. all out for another 20 sec. for a minimum of 4 min. (beginner) up to 10-15 minutes (advanced)

  • Very well said my friend. I see all kinds of people in the gym trying to do ab exercises which I am sorry to say will not produce any abs or remove the fat on top of the abs.

    Cardio - removes the fat (run, jog, lift heavy weights) and once we are close getting rid of the fat one can concentrate on ab excercises.

    That said doing ab exercises (for six pack or not) does build up lot of core strength which is really good!

  • This is the kind of crap that's out there. As a fitness professional, you should NEVER perform a sit-up. Rest is key, work abs 3x/wk....not 4-5 and def. not consecutive days of the week.

  • This is a terrible ab workout. High rep work like this will lead to between zero and a very slight increase in muscle size. Contrary to popular belif the best way to get a six pack is by doing low rep (around 8), high weight (whatever weight allows you to perform 8 repititions with perfect form) exercises. For example: Weighted decline crunches. Of course this will only increase the size of your abs, you must have low body fat in order to see them.

  • no you shouldn't. abdominal muscles are just like any other muscle in that they need rest in order to grow. work them out good and hard twice a week on nonconsecutive days, and then let them recover.

  • if you feel sore from yesterday you shouldnt keep working abs .when your sore it means your growing , so not giveing you abs a rest will just keep your abs sore . its very important to let them rest

  • don't work muscles until the soreness is gone. it's sore cuz the muscle teared (which is supposed to happen) that way you know it's building more muscle. you need protein for it to rebuild.

    so basically you should wait 48 hours till you work out that same muscle

  • soreness does not mean your muscles have teared. soreness is caused by DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) its when the little compartments in your muscles swell up and pinch your nerves. has nothing to do with recovery. but yes you shoul wait atleast 48 hours before doing the same muscle group.

  • It took me a while to start seeing definition in my abs. But little by little they started to show through. I dieted and barely did cardio, and hit my abs about 5x a week. Now (about 5 months later) I have the best abs of anyone I know. Nutrition is the key, you don't need cardio if you eat right. It will help if you are VERY overweight, but it isn't necessary if you are just flabby. Remember eat right, and do your ab routine (this one seems good, though it is not the one I do)

  • I love the bent leg cross crunch myself. Great way to hit the obliques, upper, and middle abdominals. I use the ab workout at vastmuscle (.com) and they use the same type of exercises and I've seen great results.

  • You can do all the ab exercises you want the results will be minimal if you don't incorporate cardio to increase metaboloism and burn fat. What I do inbetween superset ab workouts is run or jump rope for 3 mins and back to ab workout 4x. You will sweat, burn and feel pain.

  • it depends on the type of body that you have. a person with a very fast metabolism does not need to do cardio to build up the ab muscles.

  • to gain muscle mass you need to work your biggest muscles & AVOID isolating your biceps/triceps. Working your chest/shoulders takes help from your triceps and back exercises take help from your biceps so cut out curls/tricep extension completely out. Do total body workout, one exercise for each muscle group e.g.

    Bench Press

    Deadlift

    Lat Pulldown

    Front Squat

    Milatary Press

    Walking Lunges

    Bent-Over Row

    Step-Up

    do 10 repetitions each with a weight that is 60-75% of your one rep maximum..

  • lol am 17 and i am 9 and a half stone, but now i am nerly 10 stone, what you need to do is EAT more. Double what you eat every day. you can start by doubling what you eat every breakfast, the carry on with lunch and dinner. workout before you eat!!.

    And also do more running to burn fat. you will see great results.

  • your problem is that your exercises your muscles each day and that is a common mistake. you see after you exercise a certain muscle you tear that muscle and you need at least 1-2 days to give that muscle time to rest and repair itself. you also need to eat a lot of protein like meats, beans, whey protein shakes, eggs, peanut butter, etc. I recommend eating two boiled eggs before a work out but throw away the yolk because that contains a lot of fat and cholesterol. Sleep is very important.

  • what many ppl dont know is that the egg yolk contains more more protein (egg white/albumen) than the egg white itself, but it contains more fat and cholesterol as youve already stated

  • best way to work out is to include everything, cardio, free weights, body exercises, alternative weights like kettlebells and such, don't just stick to one and be a skinny runner or a big sack of crap who cant even run 5 km without running out of breath.

  • you guys are bent. Why argue so much. Neithers right lor wrong. Doing cardio (providing ou dont over-do it) will increase your muscluar strength, simply because all thre energy systems are engage during resistance training. Though the aerobic system is only used at a minimal improvmenst to it will allow you to have more enrgy for lifting.

    Anyway i think cardio is important, especially plyometrics!!!

  • Cardio/aerobics is actually not the best way to reduce body fat. That thinking is a few years out of date.

    Lifting weights and increasing muscle mass is the most effective way to burn fat because muscles burn calories all the time, even while you're sleeping.

    Aerobics only burns fat while you're doing it and a little while afterward.

  • reduce your body fat, basically. I have the same problem and when you get to this point, cardio is the best solution .If I were you, I would go to my local gym and consult with an expert. Because I think it depends on each person individual body type

  • combine weightlifting 3 times a week, at least 40 mins 3 times a week, and abs exercises 4-5 times a week (3 sets of 10-20 reps). Keep at least 1 day of rest a week (just let your body rest), and of course try to eat right. That basically does it for me. I have to say that eating right is the more difficult in my opinion because of difficulties with time.

  • Yes, but no ideally no, its best to never work a similar muscle group back to back days, if you do an intense ab routine, do it no more than 3-4 times a week for best results.

    sits up require u to use ur hip flexores more than ur abs because ur liftining ur body so that it is vertical ...this leaves ur abs contracted for only a short amount of time...the real reason ppl think sit ups are an ideal ab workout is because over time yes ur abs will strt to feel the effect of u raising ur body up...but in reality u r working ur hip flexors more than ur abs ...

  • this is a great ab routine but ths alone will not get you abs no matter how many times you do this. You must get rid of the fat on top of your abs and have a low bodyfat-percentage.You must eat health and do cardio along with this to see results
