  • I may meet more than one of the qualifications depicted in the criteria, however, there are many students I know of who have had much more success in high school and have not recieved your letter. I will hold on to your invitation in case I change my mind but honestly I don't see how your organization is special in any way and I especially don't see how the benefits your organization provides justify a fee of $60. Can you explain to me what exactly that money pays for? I work hard for my money.

  • @megs111694 NSHSS is an honor society that offers a lot of great benefits. Like most membership organizations, a fee is charged to help cover the organizational costs of fulfilling the mission of the Society. For those students who elect to join, the fee is one-time only. NSHSS also offers fee waivers to families that are suffering from financial hardship. It is our commitment that the membership fee and its payment never stands in the way of a qualified student becoming a member.

  • @megs111694 Member benefits include:

    • Peer networking

    • Publications and member-only web content

    • Free national events for members and their families

    • Dedicated member-services staff and volunteers to assist students

    • Service and leadership opportunities

    • Unique outreach from top domestic & international universities

    • Exclusive scholarship opportunities and academic competitions

    • Personalized membership certificate designed by Jostens

    • Unique offerings through our partnerships

  • I just recently got a letter and i want to know if i can waive my fee if my mom is currently laid off from work. Also, is the Graduation honor cord for free because my letter states that it is included, but i'm not sure what this word included mean. I just want to make sure I dont make any mistakes since it's a money matter. Thank you

  • @cindyli481 Thank you for your post. It is our commitment that the membership fee and its payment never stands in the way of a qualified student becoming a member. We offer partial and full fee waivers for qualified applicants. An application is required in order to be considered for a fee waiver. Please visit the FAQ section of our website to download the fee waiver application. The graduation honor cord will be included in your member kit.

  • @NSHSS I have one more last Question. So then i really wanted to buy the honor medallion and honor stole but i wouldnt have enough money to pay so can i just fill out the half feewaiver or full feewaiver so i have the opportunity to pay for the stole and medal?

  • @cindyli481 Yes and you can also purchase the medallion and stole at any time in our member store even after you submit the fee waiver application.

  • I do believe that I was nominated in error and I did pay for the membership so what happens now?

  • @krusnik93- Members must be a student in high school and must meet ANY ONE of the criteria below: • 1750 SAT score or higher • 200 PSAT score or higher • 26+ ACT score or higher • Score 4 or higher on any AP exam • 3.5 Cumulative GPA (4.0 Scale) or higher (or equivalent GPA) • top 10% rank in class

If you feel like you were still nominated in error, please contact our Headquarters at 1-866-343-1800. Someone from our member services team will be glad to help you.

  • @FollowingNinjasTV -If the nominee does not meet the requirements to join, NSHSS returns their payment with a letter of explanation.

  • @FollowingNinjasTV- If a student does not meet the membership requirements, their payment is returned directly to them with a letter explaining why they are not qualified.

  • NSHSS offers a lot of great benefits. A fee is charged to help cover the organizational costs of fulfilling the mission of the Society. NSHSS also offers fee waivers to families that suffer a financial hardship.

NSHSS offers scholarship opportunities that are exclusive to our members. To date, NSHSS has given out over $1 million in scholarships.

NSHSS also has member events. Mr. Nobel participates in the events as a featured speaker, and also meets and greets members.

  • I do believe its a scam. Average kids think "the average" if they don't have the desire...they are meant for something else not to get recognized for their "accomplishments" of a B- or better. If it's common its nothing to shine about. Many will be shown the invite. Only few will take advantage.

  • @gmandog6 My brother has failed every class, and just recently dropped out of high school. Guess who got an invitation? haha. this is a scam.

  • @Rogerslevel8Gymnast -We do apologize about that. It is not often that someone gets nominated in error, but it does happen.

  • @gmandog6-Our Society offers a lot of great benefits, and you must have a 3.5 GPA (B+) or higher to join. NSHSS offers scholarship opportunities that are exclusive to our members. To date, NSHSS has given out over $1 million in scholarships.

NSHSS also has member events. Mr. Nobel participates in the events as a featured speaker, and also meets and greets members.

  • i paid my 60 dollars didnt get anything and the emails stopped yet the papers haven't my friend got her cord 3 weeks after but i have waited 1 yr whyyyyyy????? do you get kicked out?

  • @prettymakeup12-Please contact our Headquarters at 1-866-343-1800, and someone from our member services team will help you.

  • Itd be great if the nshss responded. I really want to know if this is a scam. Like how can this be legit if so many people with bad grades are getting them?

  • What evidence do you have that makes you "down" this new scholar organization. Is there some concrete evidence you have that overrides this. If not, then stop lashing out at them because many high school students who were invited did not reply because "word of mouth" states that this is a "scam". Please share your insight into this more clearly. Many students need the opportunities they offer. Thank you .

  • Ok, why would you guys be interested in a B student like me? Shouldn't a program like this be offered to +A students instead? And another fact is that I never had an outstanding grade compared to my other classmates (straight A in everything)

  • @monus782- In order for you to receive an invitation you must be nominated. You are either nominated by a teacher/guidance counselor at your school or one of our partner organizations. You must have a 3.5 GPA or higher and be a second semester freshman, sophomore, junior or senior to join.

  • oh please. my high school doesnt even take the SATs or IB. They do GCE advanced level from cambridge. and you address this invitation using my school name? i aint stupid, so are the rest of the people reading this. i took the SAT as a private candidate for fun, and i become a scholar? i didnt know being a millionaire was so easy as working in macs.

  • @fallen1ce-You are either nominated by a teacher/guidance counselor at your school or one of our partner organizations. To be nominated you must have a 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher and be a second semester freshman, sophomore, junior or senior in high school.

  • @NSHSS My friend, we don't do GPAs in the school I'm at. Neither does my teacher counselor bother about such stuffs. So I still have no idea how I got there. But thanks anyway.

  • @fallen1ce- Members must be a student in high school and must meet ANY ONE of the criteria below: • 1750 SAT score or higher • 200 PSAT score or higher • 26+ ACT score or higher • Score 4 or higher on any AP exam • 3.5 Cumulative GPA (4.0 Scale) or higher (or equivalent GPA) • top 10% rank in class

  • So basically we pay you and you give us scholarships from clothing companies? What if we aren't into fashion?

  • @Skytheater-Our scholarships awarded based on academic merit. If you were to receive a scholarship, the money would be awarded to the college you choose to attend.

  • I have one question for this.... i have received an invitation from the NSHSS but um..... im only in 8th grade and not even in high school yet, so how did i receive this? It was written out to me with my name and address.

  • Check out related video's to the right---->

they have speakers and events from deans of universities. The more in a portfolio the better IMO

  • i got a letter from this and i want to know more.

    whats it for??

  • I got one in the mail, as i read it im wondering what are they talking about, my grades suck, as i can see from these comments they are scamers

  • @ilovemesomechicken-We do apologize. It is not often that someone gets nominated in error, but it does happen.

  • This is pathetic. No one has ever heard of this organization. They spam whoever's info they can. Anybody find it funny how many people dont have the 3.5 GPA but got a acceptance? Its a for-profit BUSINESS, they scam kids into feeling special to pay for nothing. How do you sleep at night knowing you pray on naive people who you trick into feeling special so you can rake a profit at the end of every week?

  • @mplayer1021-NSHSS offers a lot of great benefits to our members. To date, NSHSS has given out over $1 million in scholarships. Those scholarships are exclusive to our members. We also have member events that are held around the country. At these events, members are able to connect with admission representatives from different colleges. The members will also get a chance to meet Claes Nobel. These are just a few of our benefits.

  • This may be a scam but Patricia Rockett is FINE!! 3:56

  • haha o: i got this but i'm a freshman x)

  • @xNekolandia me too

  • @xNekolandia-You can be a second semester freshman when you join.

  • This is A BIG SCAM...using big names to get buck, for some bum named Lewis, they even hack underaged kids information, I think illegally, and offer a pittance in return; they prey upon the dreams of the middle class and poor, what a nasty company. Why would a real scholar pay to belong to any vanity society? This is the worst face of American capitalism.

  • @tropicalgardener1-In order to become a member, you must be nominated by a teacher/guidance counselor at your school or one of our partner organizations. A fee is charged to help cover the organizational costs of fulfilling the mission of the Society. NSHSS also offers fee waivers to families that suffer a financial hardship.

  • I got an invite and I think it's a scam :/

  • @kenneth2951 me too DX

  • i just got an invitation from them and i dont know if i really should believe it or not. there is evedence for both the positive and the negitave and i think i will look into this more

  • regardless if this is a scam or not, dont point it out you douchebags. that way it looks impressive if its an unknown scam and its on a resumé

  • @TheJonDuvall LMAO HAHAHA

  • that is worth it. Please do not fall for it and give your money to this ridiculous scam for "high school scholars".

  • I regret giving my 60 dollars to this scam...and NSHSS seeking out juniors and seniors with a high GPA is a lie. I was an eighth grader who got an invitation from NSHSS and foolishly thought this was real. Basically I mailed in the money and got a certificate stating I was in NSHSS. It has no significant value, and will not look good on a college application whatsoever. NSHSS is also a big lie because the only scholarships they give are from clothes companies (Abercrombie& Fitch) as if

  • We have many other scholarships besides the Abercrombie & Fitch Global Diversity & Leadership Scholar Award. Please refer to our website for a listing of all of our scholarships opportunities that are available to our members.

  • i fell for thins -_- cause I thought it was the NHS......

  • i got one too, thumbs up if this is a scam

  • @leftynick8 - I'm sorry you feel the way you do and that you do not see the value in our organization. You can find detailed information about our membership benefits and scholarships, a list of our partnering organizations and academic affiliations, photos and summaries of our member events and college fairs, and review previous editions of our online publications on our website. We strive to provide resources and benefits to all our students.

  • @NSHSS you people scam kids into thinking that they actually accomplished something, then you take their 60 dollars for nothing

  • @leftynick8-Like most membership organizations, a fee is charged to help cover the organizational costs of fulfilling the mission of the Society. NSHSS offers many great benefits to our members. To date, NSHSS has given out over $1 million in scholarships. Those scholarships are exclusive to our members and range from $250 to $5,000. We also have member events that are held around the country. These events allow our members to connect with admissions representatives at different colleges.

  • @JuStAnAsIaNboY - We work with counselors and partners that provide us with names and contact information for students who are reported as being juniors or seniors in high school with a cumulative grade

point average of B+ or better. Please note that when members are invited, we do require verification of

grade point before processing the membership. Thank you, NSHSS

  • @NSHSS I got one invite, i have a 2.9 GPA and a 2.7 non academic.

  • I gotta say I'm thinking this is legitimate. I got one too

  • i got the invitation today! i dnt know what to think about it yet though..

  • I got an invitation too... I called and spoke to someone who really cleared everything up for me! Definitely NOT a scam. Pretty much, they just wanna give benefits to students who have a high GPA. I mean yea, it costs $60 but if you think about all the scholarships they offer and the member events that are free it's worth it. It seems to me like if you want those opportunities then it's a really cool thing but if you don't then you don't have to join.

  • same here and and im like hmm what is this.

  • Yeah, I got one too, and my dad and I are trying to find out if this is a scam or not. I'll keep doing research.

  • @Artillerytactics

google "National Society of High School Scholars scam". It should provide enough sources to give an answer

  • is this for real??
