  • an excellent rendition--yet, what first attracted me to this song was Danny Federici's haunting refrain on organ. so difficult to believe he and The Big Man are gone...

  • One of my favourite songs ever.

  • Bruve wrote many of his masterpieces on the piano including this work of art. I always love this performance of Incident as the story is sung in such a clear and concise way and as always with Bruce the music is awesome. I was at the gig before this one in Paris and always regret not just taking in the Barcelona show as well just to see this performance.

  • @johnnyM809 OK...TUTTI A MILANO

  • You can't stop watching this after the first few notes...mesmerizing!

  • This song is fantastic with just Bruce and the piano. His voice sounds amazing. Like a flashback to the 80's. (A lot less Dylan twang) I always thought his best performance live was For You at the Hammersmith. I think this now takes the lead.

  • Probably the performance that made me truly fall in love with Springsteen music.

  • Beautiful. Simple as that.

  • his best song in my opinion...tells a great story and even with just a piano is as powerful as ever

  • this guys can tell a story in song

  • 1 person is more retarded than Hellen Keller

  • @MrBaxinator not cool

  • aw wot lovly man lovely singer /he vry handsum xxxxxxxxx

  • I was there, that night of october in 2002. I will always remember hugging my girlfriend while both were listening to this song. It was 9 years ago. Now she's my wife. This is one of those things that makes life wonderful.

  • @Rouret

I'm taking my girlfriend to see him in Hyde Park in a few months-- hope it's as good as you say! I'm assuming it will be :)

  • Great version.

  • soooo godly

  • This is what makes Bruce the best. It's like he's singing to you alone, in a small room. The crowd goes away. The bigness of the venue goes away. Bruce can transform any venue into a "room". I've seen him do it many many times. This song is a great example of that. Thanks for sharing.

  • The best...then...now...end of discussion

  • Spanish Johnny :) I love this version of Incident :D

  • My fav of all

  • flawless

  • Simply beautiful.

  • could listen to this all day and it would still get better every time :o

  • a true artist!!!!

  • One of those songs that literally takes me away. This is the type of song I live for. Thank you, Bruce. Thank you so much.

  • best song....ever.....no question.

  • @sk28sk

    ever ??

  • The 1 person who disliked this has no soul!

  • hello thanks for the song i myself really like the cut when done this way also .but let me make this very clear in my opinion this is bruces best song in all the ways i have heard it ! and when i been lucky enough to see it live i feel honored

in my opinion its one of the best 5 songs of all time seriously i want this one played at my funeral thanks again

  • This song is 37 years old (The Wild & the Innocent: released then). It's just as meaningful today! 22 years between WWI and WWII. 26 years since Bruce released Born in the USA! 9/11?...10 years, next fall. I wrote a college term paper comparing "Born to Run" with Sartre, Camus and Kierkegaard, in 1976. In my youthful exuberance I titled it: "Bruce Springsteen: Existentialist in Leather Jacket." I compared lyrics of Backstreets & Thunder Road w/ them. I wish Bruce could read it, now.:)

  • Why don't you post that paper? I would love to read it if possible. mickeytryan1@cox.net

  • Springsteen + Incident On 57th Street = Sometimes things... just happen.

  • His wet shirt is proof that he really gets into his song..truly a legend in music!

  • What a talented, talented musician and performer. He isn't called The Boss for nothing. His concert is absolutely amazing. He's very kind to his fans.

  • Incredible version of this song!! Great post, notimetochill

  • Wow i have this dvd and i must say the song is pure magic. Quite simply the words and lyrics and so powerful it has to be one of the greatest songs ever written. Bruce is simply a legend and will go down as one of the greatest all round performers and songwriters ever. Awesome and thank you Bruce and the E Street Band for giving me so much pleasure out of music.

  • good night -- it's all right, Jane.

  • love

  • beautiful, lovely, thank you so much for reminding me of my spirit! and love for Bruce's ability to capture it. Smiles...

  • I know Brucie is 'hot' but he really is hot in the literal sense here. You can see his sweat on arms, drenched shirt. But, afterall, he is THE HOTTEST MAN ALIVE! This is such a beautiful version of this song!

  • A truly beautiful song.

    Tears in my eyes.

  • One of his best songs ever from my point of view, with Born to Run, Thunder Road, The River and more others, but this is simply... speechless. And this version is... as BloodSister87 says, breathtaking.

    LONG LIVE THE BOSS!

  • wear it on your sleeve bruce like always. brother you rock.

  • Anyone know when this concert took play.

What a vibrant tapestry he weaves.

  • AMAZING.

  • WJHD -

I know he walks on water but i bet he's looking down at the lyrics...

  • fucking hey !!!!

  • Cheers bruce!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • yes bruce!!!!!!

  • Thanks for the heads up. I can only imagine... how sweet that concert was...oh Good for you.)

  • 1:01 He starts staring into nothingness - you can tell he really puts his heart into his music, he's totally lost in the story he's telling.

  • The man can swallow pain and give us an incredible love song... so .beautiful it hurts

  • @WJHD :see, that's where most Bruce fans go overboard..He's reading the lyrics from sheets while singin'...Don't get me wrong,Bruce is one of my favs ever, but look at "For you" from the 75 live DVD,now THERE'S a performance ;)

  • @jkj10 He's reading the sheet music.

  • Comment removed

  • @drtphd :I seriously doubt that ;)

He's getting older, and it's only natural, but he's reading the lyrics from sheets these days...

  • He is reading the words alright. But could you give a performance like this? Could I? I think not! Write this? That is another question! Bruce fans go overboard with good reason, they are never left with a sinking feeling or a short changed feeling he gives it his all every single time. How many are left like him! Me thinks very few!

  • @RUSHIE1892 : I'm not trying to bash the boss.I'm just saying,to all those Bruce fans outthere who seem to think he's not from this planet or superhuman or something, that he's still great, but getting older..His louder songs aren't getting through like before because his voice just isnt' the same anymore..And that's all fine with me,but I actually am one of those long-time Bruce fans who start to doubt if he should continue as front man of the E Street Band, that's all ;)

  • @jkj10 I agree that his voice isnt as good as it used to be. But he still is the best around, why shouldnt he be the frontman of the E street band? Name one person who could do it better than him? No one out there puts his/her heart and soul into every show like Bruce does, without being pretentious. He is so far above the rest regarding live performances so it doesnt matter if his voice isnt as strong as it was. And no, i dont think he is superhuman.

  • @Lameglioify :The best around, depends on how you look at it..In my humble opinion,I just think he should do solo gigs like he's done before or maybe a smaller band for a change..There are people out there who have the chance to see Bruce and his band for the first time (especially with all the ferstivals they've been doin) and are dissapointed..Not because of his craftmanship or charisma, but purely because of his voice..He should think about it at least, before he ruins his legacy

  • @jkj10 I don´t understand why you mention Prince when i ask you to name one other frontman who could do better as a frontman for The E-street band. Is he still active? I haven´t seen him for like 10 years or more, if he is active he is sure failing to reach out. Regarding people being dissapointed after seeing Bruce live i highly doubt that is common. My experience with friends(who usually dont like that kind of music) is that he is gaining supporters because of his passion on stage.

  • @Lameglioify :It wasn't clear to me you meant as a fronman of the E Street Band..No one could ever be that..I'm only saying he (or they) should be thinking about calling it quits maybe,or maybe start doing softer, more acoustic shows..

And I know what you mean when he gains supporters with his sheer passion and joy on stage, but I talked to people who weren't that impressed and it had all to do with his voice, and I can understand them eventhough I hate to admit it.

  • @jkj10 Of course Bruce has passed his peak singing powerful rocksongs. The man is 61 years old. But still i dont think it´s right to always compare artists with they´re peak. Prince is also past his peak, that doesnt mean he can´t give the audience a quality show. And some of the legends who is still around are still far above most new artists, especially when it comes to performing live. Very few sings with the heart and passion Bruce does.

  • @Lameglioify :VERY few,that's right.It's not like I came up with Prince for nothing,and he ain't past his peak,live ;-)

Like I said before, the heart, the soul, the will,it's all there, but the voice just isn't there anymore eventhough it hurts me to say..I agree with you on one thing:The 'older' artists know how to perform and know what 'live' really means.

  • @jkj10 No, i have not bought any Springsteen album. Actually i didnt like him very much before 2002. I had only heard a few songs and made fun of him sometimes. But i worked with an older gentleman who was a huge Springsteen fan. He brought albums to work and played them while we were working, so he grew on me. I think Bruces songs is best when performed live. So i watch it on Youtube, and i can listen to his albums on Spotify.

  • @Lameglioify :Not trying to attack you or something, but if it were for 'fans' like you Bruce would've never hit any stage..Some fans actually need to buy his music, you know?

  • BLINDED by charisma, showmanship and positivity you say? That´s sounds very arrogant. When talking about music all opinions are very subjectiv. You obviously like to state your very subjectiv opinion here, most people disagree with you. That does´nt mean they are BLINDED by anything. It just means that they don´t agree with you. Many would say that you might be blinded by Princes ehmmm, i want to say charisma and showmanship, but blinded by puffy pirate shirts and MJ haircut is more accurate.

  • @Lameglioify :Gee,I don't know what made you feel offended here, but I was only saying that people who have never seen Bruce live can easily be distracted by Bruce's charisma, positivity and such..as if that's such a bad thing!??..And if many would doubt Prince's charisma, showmanship, fashion or haircut it only shows what people look/listen at,wouldn't you say so?..

Sounds like you're getting annoyed, but I'm only trying to have a normal discussion here and give my opinion (as a Bruce fan also)

  • @Lameglioify :and I know most people in here will disagree (it's a Bruce vid after all),but that doesn't mean I can't give my opinion about the man or his live performances..Hell,I've been a long time Bruce fan,I think I have the right to say that when you close your eyes these days when Bruce and band are on stage it just doesn't sound as impressive as before (and it ain't the band, believe me)..Just my honest opinion, like it or not..

  • @Lameglioify : oh,and one other thing:..He's so far above the rest is something only a die-hard Bruce fan would say, because when it comes to better craftmanship, musically speaking,I'd say Prince cannot be beaten..Bruce has always been up there with the best when he's on stage, but he's not way above the rest anymore..The joy,the passion, the hard working, the charisma,it's all there still, but his voice is another matter (in the louder songs)..

  • @jkj10 Well, to say that Prince cannot be beaten is something only a die-hard Prince fan would say. I´m absolutely a fan of Springsteen, especially when it comes to live performances, but die-hard fan the way you say it, is way off. I have never bought an Springsteen album. When i say Springsteen is still above the rest i am talking about performing live at concerts. Even a Die-hard Prince fan can see that Bruce is way better on that particular area.

  • @Lameglioify :I'm a die hard fan of both..And if you think,quality-wise,who's the better live performer these days out of these two, then I must admit it myself,Prince beats Bruce..And believe me,I never would've thought I'd say that..

Btw,You never bought a Springsteen album??..

  • @jkj10 That depends on what the audience values in a live performance. I like artists who shows passion, heart and and feels authentic when they perform. Then there is other people who values other attributes. And they might prefer someone else. There are millions of good musicians out there, but if they don´t "move" me in some way. Then it´s nothing for me.

  • @Lameglioify : I look for the same things, usually,in a live-act..But once the sound isn't there anymore (I'm really sorry, but these days when Bruce plays three uptempo, hard rocking songs these days he sounds like he's out of breath and hard to understand what he's singing about..Now you and I may know all those lyrics, the newer fans who aren't blinded with charisma, showmanship and positivity and try to focus on the sound and the words may go home dissapointed.

  • @WJHD he's staring at lyrics and music taped to top of piano. I'm not knocking your post/comment. It's a masterful song, and performance, but as we know, he uses lyric sheets. Who wouldn't at his stage of a career? He's only got about 360 songs to sing on any given night....GO BRUCE! Always the best boss anyone ever had

  • @WJHD

    he's looking at the lyrics...

  • What a power... what a feeling love him

    bruce 4ever

  • Miss you.

    Love you.

    ALWAYS.

  • amazing song, amazing Bruce

  • i think this is the best live song ive ever heard and i wish i could have been there to hear it first hand. this man is my god and i have no qualms saying that

  • Absolutely breathtaking!!! Hes the Greatest of all time in my opinion. This song along with Jungleland and Thunder road are my personal favourites.

  • Thanks fot that...

  • You're right notimetochill...when he plays the song alone, with the piano, it's wonderful...It makes me dream...

Hai ragione notimetochill...quando la suona al pianoforte da solo è meravigliosa...mi fa sognare...

  • Love this song..best springsteen song besides Drive All Night (The River). Phenomenal on the piano.

  • I have seen him 4 times and love every song and my god this version just makes you realise that he has everything like on that same dvd he makes waitin for a sunny day into the classic poppy upbeat songs and turns ramrod into a fun almost laugh out loud classic..

and the promise from the live in new york dvd is heartbreaking he is just the best songwriter and showman ever

  • i agree with you, seen him 3 times, every time he was amazing!! i love this version, its so cinematic.

  • i think e street is a pretty cool guy. eh plays paino and doesn't afraid of anything.

  • this is my favourite bruce's song...he' a genius and a poet..a very romantic man....there are no romantic men in his world like him.....

  • this is...just...breathtaking. whenever i hear this version of incident it brings tears in my eyes. bruce alone with his voice and the piano.....it is just WOW! definately the BOSS!!!!!!!!! and surely one of his best songs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and this version....the greatest!!! and if i had the possibility to see this on stage, i will surely be the happiest person on this planet i guess :-)

ROCK ON BRUUUUUUUUUUCE you`ll always be the best!

  • He is the BOSS no doubt. This performance is so wonderful and very moving. I never seen Bruce play the piano I hope sometime I will see him in concert again and he will play this song on the piano. Does anyone know where you can download this version of this song?

  • emule, bruce springsteen, live in barcelona

  • use the youtube mp3 converter

  • i wish this performance was on itunes. i love this version of the song

  • i honestly think that is the best and ultimate version of this song.

  • the old ones from the 70s are pretty nice as well. especially the guitar solo which was played at the end of the song is amazing

  • I'm a big Springsteen fan and this is by far the best song/perfomance I've seen from the boss (so far!) One word for it: Amazing

  • what a wonderful performance of a wonderful song

  • An amazing performance and an amazing song.....

  • i hope next time i see bruce, he does this one. never seen it live.

  • I agree with the description, it's so much better with just bruce and the piano

  • he is by far the best singer songwriter of our time without question, end of story, period.
