Be careful keeping sculpins and darters together in an aquarium...the sculpins will eat darters! I have kept native fish such as sculpins, darters, and shiners for years...you can learn a lot by watching them in aquaria.
Puts you in mind of a goby type of fish or a loach it does stay on the bottom of the sand or gravel with its belly on the floor. Darter fish are cool to and pretty motovated all the time all most never stop they eat pick on stuff on the lower water levels and will eat smaller flake food and get along with guppyies to. All so keep sculpins in colder water or no heater same goes for Darters if possible. any questions write me at Justlikethat47374@yahoo.com thanks
Sometimes it seems hard to catch one cause they vary a little bit in color from black to gray and even harder to see camo type color which is the most common. When putting them in a tank make sure they have no body bigger than them or they will get be eaten or stressed out and die. They live well with guppies and crawdads but not Darter fish cause the sculpin will eat them. Darter fish can allso be found in the same way and that is another cool fish but pretty fast. Reminds you of a GOBY type
On a side note when you catch wild fish and put them in a aquarium look for weird spots or Parasites on them and give lite trement products to them if so. When catching this all so collect minnows they will eat them and that is free food for them. I dont believe in poching but if you can treat a animal better slighty than what it would get in nature then that is good for the creature and it is cool to watch one go from half a inch to about 6 inches and they live a long time.
They love to eat crawdads and worms and little fish they are a predator fish they love to eat live stuff. And if you are going to keep them in a aquarium use no heater at all but a filter and bubbler work just fine. Give them some stones and rocks to hide under they like that to but dont worry they will not allways hide from view and sometimes right after they eat they will swim all over and even wild caught ones will come out and beg for food.
we have this all over the whitewater river area in Richmond, Indiana i catch these all the time i love them. To catch one or more find shallow moving water about 4inches to 2 feet deep that you can see in the water. Take a aquarium fish net with you then flip over little or slighlty bigger rocks slow and with luck or enough rock fliping on will jump out. They love lower light conditions as well i found out thats when they like to come out. While you are at it catch up some crayfish or crawdads.
Thank you for this video, I've been trying to name the fish we caught in Alaska and the Scorpion is that one, but we have the Sculpin in Oregon in fresh water who looked like the red one in Alaska now I know the names of both ! Thank you
in 1964 13 year old Elisa Johnson was raped and murdered in North Carolina, her body was found with multiple stab wounds, and now that you've read this, every night she will come to your house and hang from your closet with glowing red eyes, the only way to stop this is to post this to 10 other videos. SORRY I DIDNT WANT HER IN MY ROOM
