  • @MrMeddled maybe im not being clear. ALL people should be proud of the heritage. Im Mexican, and im oroud of that. but i hear alot of white ppl say "we dont have a culture' and stuff like that

  • @MrMeddled y would you say that? at give a reason. ps, fvck mtn dew and all soda (or pop or whatever u call it)

  • im not white but this is some good fvkcing musik, what musik should be. white ppl should be proud of their pre-christian european heritage more, not their american identities

  • beautiful work, great music thanks 4 sharing

  • @MCBathtub agree

  • The intro sounds like a peruvian pan-pipe band

  • in "lost tales" summoning uses atlest one of there side project mirkwood songs

  • varg is currently serving a 21 year

  • @elfheart666 nope, he's not he was released like a year ago I think.

  • @ZSKblog I know but initially he get 21 years

  • Fuck man that wongraven album has the EXACT same cover as Carpathian Forest's album, "Through Chasm Caves and Titan Woods". What's the deal with that? What is the significance of that picture anybody know??

  • Ambient Music ist not related to Black Metal. Only this compilation is it.

I recommand bands such as Atrium Carceri, Atomine Elektrine, desiderii marginis, Herbst9 and z'ev or more popular: Jean-Michael Jarre

surely this music, espescially the mystical songs, are close to Dark Music but consider There are more Dark Music than Black Metal. Black Metal is only the most evil. :) Ambient ist surely one of the most widespread music styles.

  • @Boskopist Ambient isn't much related to Black metal, no. Dark ambient is, however. Mostly likely because a lot of Black metal and Dark ambient tries to paint about the same atmosphere, merely with a different approach to it.

  • Thanks for the wonderful and informative compilation. There is a band called Uruk-Hai (or Uruk Hai) doing music inspired by Tolkien, too. Their releases include A Night in the Forest, The Battle, and War Poems.

  • i love arcana <3

  • Grabesmond...my first hearing. GREAT STUFF!

  • You guys should check out Hoyland, that stuff is also good also.. i posted a few tracks in youtube..

  • great atmosphere!!!

  • Ayenthis is neat stuff,I love ambient stuff.I notice most of these tend to be side projects of black metalers....ahahah

  • is beautiful! someone can help with grabesmond albums? i cant find them! :( ur band sounds awesome!

  • GRACIAS,

  • great music.

  • Wonderfull, great video.

  • All are great, but I really love Mortiis.

  • loved the last song at the end, the tolkiens lord of the rings picture looked stunning as well

  • Lol, dude I want your song.

  • you should check out dark ambient like burzum, blut aus nord ,levathian, xasthur, etc... long live goth(real goth) and black metal...

  • oh I love that stuff.

  • fenomenal, que estilo ,aun que no son en si darkwave las bandas.

  • I'm going to dress up like a goblin and lurk around town now*good music

  • jajaja, ya it sounds goblin-ish

  • Ah, indeed, dargaard should be here too, and as a personal opinion, so should pazuzu (Ray from pazuzu was also present on Summoning)

  • Thanks for making the vid!! Some band I know, but most I don't. But the songs are all great, im checking them out!!

  • all the groups are jewells,in special Mortiis and the others projects! dark compilation!congratulations

  • damn they put radio recordings, thats bein creative!!!!

  • hey man that's a great job you 've done for both the songs and the info, really thanks for uploading such a video, also keep synthesizing songs (intro and outro from your solo project where great)

  • Great collection of music!

Some of the bands were new to me, and I really like them!

  • awsome collection

  • so mortiis changed his sound after seeing "stargate"?? yeah it was a pretty good movie but come on man seriously?? was "the fifth element" also an influence?

  • missing dargaard. but excellent choices nevertheless :)

  • Mortiis sold out. Hugely. The album he released after Stargate is ''Electropop''.....

  • still good though

  • 21 year sentence Varg served 16 year for good behavior but was supoose to serve 20 but tried to escape puting an aditional 16 months on his sentence so varg was suppose to serve 21 years not 24

  • this pic at wongraven looks like destroyed castle in my wood... at nigt;)

  • God fucking damn it... I bought the wrong cd, haha... I wanted to buy the cd with this track on it(seen on this video), apperantly I was confused by the coverart...

  • I was forgetting to tell about the arcana cd :P

  • Great work!... Thanks for the list of the songs.

  • i love arcana ^ ^

  • very good

summoning is just amazing, everything they did its epic cant describe enymore

    longliv to summoning

im very happy theyll probably record a new full lenght \m/

  • FUcking brilliant, I liked the music by your band by the way!! the way the artwork was synched with all the music was awesome, epsecially in summonings part.

  • Summoning is the best!

  • Many black metal artist have darkwave as side projects it seems, perhaps there is a connection between darkwave and black metal in their style ;)

  • Dark ambient also has influences from black metal. I've read of a lot of black metal artists doing work in dark ambient and neoclassical darkwave even.

  • The Weltenbrand one and the Summoning one are fucking awesome

  • Great songs, but none of them are darkwave. I didn't know if you were aware of that.

BTW, Mortiis era one is the best of all of these, in my opinion!

  • just to be sure: Is the genre "Darkwave" something like trance mixed with black metal? correct me please

  • Darkwave is hard to describe, but it definetely does not have anything to do with black metal. It branched off of Goth music in the 80s. Modern darkwave uses synthesizers more than anything else. One of the most famous darkwave bands is the Cruxshadows, they're a perfect example of darkwave. If you have any more questions, send me a message.

  • i searched a little, and found some samples. It's a darker form of synth pop (even though with little pop involved) thanks for the info anyway, ill check out the band.

Another genre to add in my vocabulary ;)

  • Basically...darkwave is synth-pop with a slight goth/death rock sound,

  • omg 5 stars¡¡

  • Eishalle by Paysage d'Hiver has the most immense atmosphere I have ever heard in a song.

    Great video, very informative.

  • I Agree mate!

  • Wish they could make an special (Dark-)Ambient/Drone/Noise-archive then it would be nice! :D

  • I like the old and new mortiis

  • I dislike the industrial of Mortiis... Old is more atmospheric :)

  • cool vid.

  • Early Mortiis and Wongraven are absolutly fatastic and such an inspiration.. Mortiis' Vond project is also very interesting.....

  • I'm uploading the Grabesmond demo to youtube right now. I just uploaded their most current album, Xenoglossie.

  • Thanks for uploading this video! I have found it very informative.

  • Your music is amazing.

  • Hail to Arcana!!!!!!!

  • totally lol. loved that game.

  • hahaha nice

  • I can't believe that this name wasn't already taken! Awesome! I'm Gothycdreams by the way, MedievalAmbient and AmbientFolk weren't already made yet!

  • good ^^

  • I visited your myspace account but you haven't been there for ages!!

  • What Name for intro song !?

  • Vahn Heir Dur

  • summoning arcenstone is fuckin amazing

  • How come on these "top ten" videos, people always say, "you forgot 'blank'"? Because the person who made this video obviously doesn't like whatever band you feel they should've put in here!

  • very cool that Burzum is named! Bud burzum is mostly a REAL Black metal band

  • but nice choice with summoning :) they are the best!

  • dude you forgot Elffor

  • What website can I download grabesmond and mirkwood from? It says summonig website, but I went there and it just showed a bunch of websites for free music downloads.

  • if you typed "summonig" then thats why you got the wrong website. go to summoning's official website and click where its says mp3, its not that hard to find.

  • Why is ambient music so commonly related to black metal?

  • my guess is because so many musicians from black metal bands have also released ambient albums, and a lot a black metal has ambient music tied into it. its also just because a lot of people who like black metal also like ambient

  • @beatrispits Sry but i dont like black metal but i admire ambient music...I think that goes for quite a lot of people...Its a matter of taste in music...But i agree there are similarities in black metal and ambient music...But for me they dont go together so easily...

  • @GREGOHARD dont apologize for your musical preferences. I agree, people who listen to black metal may be drawn towards ambient music, not the other way around, just because black metal is a little bit harder for most people to digest

  • Because both are all about dark atmosphere

  • Comment removed

  • @GothycDreams The ying and the yang

  • Ahhhhh so many good bands to get! Not to mention listen to them all. I'll go with Vond for now I guess xD But the others are good too o.o Ahhhhhh

  • your band is the best out of all of these

  • i love this music! thanks for opening my eyes to this! i enjoy all music with a feel of....i dont know, medievalness? its very closely but not very closelly related to metal, which is what i love.

  • I'm a lover from Dark Ambient Music, and I have barely touch the ground from folk ambient, your video is really informative, excelent compilation...

  • ah i got id^^ its from rabenland xD

  • Thanks for this, given me a shopping list! :)

  • u always include "side" projects

  • really nice pics, and most of this music is also awsome

  • Need the Mortiis, Wongraven, Arcana, Burzum and Weltenbrand stuff.

  • I like your ambient music! What is the name of your solo band?

I recommend a band called Vinterriket. They are my favourite ambient black metal band... They're mezmerising...

  • my solo project is called Culephelion as it says in the info, I also am a fan of Vinterikket, good stuff

  • Hi, i also have an ambient project going;) awsome vid

  • amazing

  • Wongraven er kjempebra...Du burde inkludert elffor

Wongraven is awsome.. You should have included elffor

  • thx^^

  • what is the song of grabesmond? i have all two albums but i found the song not xDD

  • In Schwindendem Licht

  • great video..

the darwave is the music of the dreams

  • Hmm. The Wongraven album cover is the same one as Carpatian Forest's TCCATW! And how do you make your own music????? Your stuff sounds great.

  • Burzum is my favorite

  • absolut great video! make more them please!^^

  • wongraven is absolutly wonderful!!!

  • Is there any way I can get the song you made?

  • hm, its 42 minutes long so its way too big to email, Im thinking about breaking it up into sections and putting it on youtube, i dunno thou....

  • You should =)

  • Love that Wongraven album, good list!

  • What song is befor Mortiis ? The intro song :)

  • a song I did, look at the bottom of the info section

  • The songs i liked the most were the ones you did.

  • great work mate well done.. thanks for the video 5 stars!

  • how named this song of paysage d'hiver???

  • i noticed mirkwood 4 is the same song as arcenstone without the lyrics

  • Mortiis and Wongraven are on my "Must-Have-List" now

  • perfect work. thnx for all the tips.

  • Didn't know that Mirkwoord tune was re-used in Arcenstone! I felt really bad that this specific melody wasn't released but I didn't know that they used it in Summoning. Lovely

  • Try listening to The band Mirkwood if you like Summoning.(not the Summoning side project called Mirkwood, it's a differnet Mirkwood from the US)

  • It is really hypnotic

  • Useless information? No way, it's exactly what I'm looking for! I really liked this medley, my favorite by far is Arcana, the most ethereal of all these projects, I guess. But that last song (Arcenstone) sent me shivers down my spine, wow, really beautiful... O_o

    Thank you!

  • very good list I really appriciate it...even if I think Summoning black metal albums/darkwave are better... I was thinking of die verbannten kinder evas...arent they darkwave aswell? nice video though

  • ya, they are, I was gonna put them on the list too but I dont have any of their stuff yet

  • well done my friend,get current 93 judas as black moth,lush man.peace

  • oh and another coil album called the moons milk in four phases!very good.........or maybe current 93 albums if you like the lighter side of neo- folk/gothic/ambient stuff

  • your right man, coil and current 93 are great. I have ape of napels and black ships ate the sky, both are amazing.

  • maybe you guys should listen to some of coils work! music to play in the dark, ape of naples, are just 2 of there albums, not dissimilar from vond /mortiis in feel abit more electronic but very dark, spiritual and atmospheric.check them out!

  • you make no sense

darkwave are more like bands like fields of the nephilim and stuff later it evolved into more techno kinda music

  • ya, it also evolved into dark ambient music, which is what I'm more into and what this list is more focused on. So I guess its not darkwave in the truest sense, but this list is more dark ambient-folk oriented anyway.

  • in the dark ambient folk i'll give you right

    but not in the darkwave

  • do you know a fucking thing about darkwave

    i dont think so

    burzum

    pure black metal

    syntiser are darkwave

  • have you ever heard the burzum albums ON THIS LIST? Ya I know burzum is black metal, but he also happened to make 2 purely synthesized ambient folk albums that don't have a trace of black metal on them, which is why those 2 albums are on this list (By the way, Summoning and Paysage D'Hiver are also black metal bands who have made darkwave/ambient folk albums).

  • Great List,gratz
