  • Was listening to Dave Seaman, Renaissance (last tune), then put Viva la Vida (first tune on), total mind fuck, I had no idea.

  • mind = blown.

  • which type of music is this ?

    I love it

  • I would love Jon Hopkins to produce a whole Coldplay album. It could be marvellous. Very talented man.

  • Isn't this just one of those songs you just listen to as you stare up at the stars?

  • the escapist <3

  • You see, it's people like this that have the real talent. Most "Artists" now days require many other people to write their stuff and rely on computers to make their voice sound good. I appreciate people like Jon Hopkins who can actually make real music instead of most artists. So, thank you Jon Hopkins, thank you for making such freaking awesome music!

  • That was probably the fastest 9 minutes of my life

  • LOVE IT

  • The last 3 mins are so euphoric its unbelievable. Absolutely love it

  • This is the best ever ever ever

  • Wait I am confuz....I've heard this in Coldplay songs.... :/

  • @FrostedPingu he made this song, and coldplay used it on their cd. Jon hopkins was producing viva la vida when he made this

  • @FrostedPingu

coldplay done some stuff with jon

  • this sounds exactly like the postal service

  • I'm so glad I watched Monsters, just because if I hadn't, I would never have found out about Jon Hopkins' amazing music.

  • i like when the piano comes in. its the melody "And in the end we lie awake and dream of making escape"

  • This tune is actually coming from somewhere in between the little dots you see in the sky! Make a wish!

  • This is intro for Life in technicolor by Coldplay. TRUE?

  • @doduiala Why yes.

  • @doduiala Other way around. Coldplay borrowed part of it. But they are both pretty good pieces of music:)

  • @adamdoubleO pretty sure he was right, this is the intro for life in technicolor. Hopkings worked with Coldplay on Viva la Vida and helped establish lots of their instrumental work on a number of songs on the album. The opening to Violet Hill, for example, was another piece that he had a large part in producing.

  • @Thisguysgoinplaces

Lol i didnt meant to make it sound like i thought he was wrong. Lol he's right.

But i think we can agree that pretty much all coldplay music and Jon hopkins music is beast, right?

  • @doduiala and outro to Death and All His Friends (called The Escapist)

  • @VitalSigns13 Oh,this is CoolPlay

  • funny how my comment which has 71 likes is no longer top rated...

  • @VitalSigns13 happend to me also on a dog video lol comment is nowhere to be found ^^

  • It is extremely rare for a piece this simple and repetitive not to get boring at some point, especially for us musicians. this piece however, is anything but. first of all, the repeating melody is sublimely beautiful, brilliant in it's simplicity. from the first note, you are drawn in and then the way the piece slowly unfolds and builds is truly masterful. reminded me at times of steve reich. very hypnotic and conveys a feeling that makes you just want to bath in it. truly fucking beautiful!!

  • This is a great song to get up in the morning to. So beautiful.....

  • THIS is ART

  • If you understand music, you'll understand me. I don't consider Coldplay thieves. What they have done is already given an already good song new life. Music is music. Music is art. And language. It's meant to be enjoyed, shared. When creativity strikes, why should there be limits to what you can do? Why do large corporations have to infringe on the power that is creativity? And why do some people support this infringement? Just some food for thought.

  • @volldegineorigional This man speaks truth

  • everything is in the right place. hipnotic

  • Fucking amazing song. Mad skills. This song: inspires me when I'm tapped out from the world.

  • Fantastic job...

  • I want to marry this song, raise my kids with it, and wake up next to it every day, watching its soft smile while it tells me: morning, my love...

  • @linkage16 Sufjan Stevens - Vito's Ordination Song. It's not an instrumental but still in the same relaxing vein as this...

  • First time I've heard this. Cannot believe what I have just heard. An instant favourite.

  • @rory88uk you should try listening to Life in Technicolor and The Escapist by Coldplay

  • @VitalSigns13 I have been listening to a lot of hopkins now, already listened to these as well - excellent tracks

  • @rory88uk Exactly same here! :)

  • @rory88uk Yes

  • Its good to know that people out there enjoy beautiful music like i do. But I wounder if people are thinking about someone they love or like to this song

  • @toolfann67 Sometimes, but usually I just imagine myself in some awe inspiring place swept along like an innocent child by the wonder that surrounds me.

  • The last couple of minutes are beautiful. Reminds me of the 'Heat' soundtrack.

  • @InTheCity3D I was thinking the same thing.

  • uuh,what's that up in the sky?..is it a bird..is it a plane?...nope...it's me,flying through the clouds to this awesome track ;)

  • Only dicovered this by chance. Always listened to The Escapist thinking Coldplay were the geniuses behind it. Hopkins needs to be credited more appropriately!

  • At my funeral I want people to remember me with this Outstanding Tune!!!!

  • Great Tune-makes me feel Peaceful!!:))

  • 10 people will never see the light!

  • @Kitonyc Did you just imply that they don't go outside?

  • hahahahhahahahahahahhaha

  • @Kitonyc yeah they won't! :D

  • Not trolling, but imho I didn't like it very much...I was looking this guy up to see if I liked him but it just isn't my kind of music...

  • You can loop this song and never be tired of it.. more like refreshes you.

  • i feel like i was just reborn

  • This tune is incredible, thank you for sharing!

  • i cant believe how much i still love this song... just floating away...

  • 10 people don't know how to relax........

  • @themightyfinbar People like you, the cancer of YouTube's community, are unable to post comments that contribute any level of sophistication. Please save those meaningless comments for a more tasteless video.

  • @BatchMetaphor sorry for the offence, I just cannot undrstand why 10 people disliked this, its calming, superb and great use of modern computer sequencing techniques. Infact you could parallel with Philip Glass. I have the album, and his first too which in my opinion is far superior. Again, Very sorry !!

  • @themightyfinbar You know..

I really like Philip Glass and I really like Jon Hopkins but i don't really like this song.

  • theres so much more in this song thats left out in the shorter version. and you dont understand until you listen to the whole thing. incredible.

  • It just touches your soul.

  • You know, all my life is like full of trouble and dificulties, but this song makes to remember me on this realm and all another realms is so much love and hapyness and light just we in normal life dont see it we are blind, but this song opens the eyes and makes to understand the troubles are making we! • this song changes peoples lives on acid....highly recommend

  • what genre of music is this exactly? ambient?

  • @linkage16 More like electronic, not entirely ambient but not entirely techno either.

  • Beautiful.

  • sweet sweet bliss

  • Makes you feel like futur holds lots of wonders !

  • 9 people needing help.

  • Perfect escape of mind. Or escape of life...

  • @JinaDel thats why coldplay called it the escapist :)

  • @VitalSigns13 Not that false ! :p

  • Every element in every second of this song is engaging. Third time I've listened to it in the last 45 minutes.

  • People have been misusing words lately. I hear celebrities and popular singers being called "artists". They don't even write their own songs, and in some cases don't even sing them without studio assistance. I would not consider that art would you?

This however, is more than art.

  • @Warhodes12 Amen to that brother.

  • /watch?v=gz0RAPmp8DQ

  • I forget how I discovered Jon Hopkins but Im so glad that I did. Surprisingly, it wasn't through coldplay. My first was Cerulean and I had to find more.

  • 9 People have heroin in their veins...

  • Some of you guys are saying Coldplay is stealing music, Jon Hopkins Co-Produced the Viva La Vida album. So theres no copy infrigment.

  • I just found out i had off today from school due too snow with this playing in my ears for the first time. I think my brain just exploded

  • is this all the views???? :S WHAT THE FUCK? :S

  • Hey.. this sounds a lot like Coldplay's introduction to their new album.

  • @PorroFirst you're right. Jon Hopkins actually worked with Coldplay for their fourth album "Viva la Vida". This is the begining of "Life in Technicolor".

  • @PorroFirst Yeah, Coldplay took it. They mention it in their album booklet if you bothered to actually buy it like a good person instead of troll the internets claiming plagiarism with no evidence.

  • Awesome

  • I love when it dies down and transitions into 6:47

  • and

    in the end

    we lie awake

and we dream of making our escape...

  • @VitalSigns13 Hope you don't mind if I quote you.

  • @swade98 not at all! haha

  • It's pretty amazing how music (specially this song) can make you change your mod.... from stress to complete relax ... ^_^

  • I love this. Wow.

  • Coldplay's The Escapist and Life In Technicolor contain samplings of this song.

Jon Hopkins has worked with Coldplay in some pieces of song playing keyboard.

    No plagiarism

Sorry for my bad english :)

  • @Mobbasta105 Thanks for the information. Was listening to the song while walking outside and when it came on I started wondering "Haven't I heard this tune before...?"

  • @Mobbasta105 Your comment introduced me to coldplay. I officially love you.

  • this song is like life. the start is when you born, when you first open your eyes and see things around you and you don't understand anything, the middle is your life with all the good and bad things that has happened to you and the ending is death when you finally close your eyes forever. Something that came in my mind listening to this song. :)

    Amazing song.

  • @pikuns1234567890 youtube needs more sensible "commenters" like you!

  • I LOVE THIS.

I first heard it in "Life in Technicolor I" and "The Escapist" from Coldplay and I totally fell in love with it. I'm in love with England; all their people and musicians, it's just great! I hope someday I can go to England♥.

    Greetings from Mexico! :)

  • the end is best part of this song

  • AMAZING!!

    Cheers from Barcelona, Spain!

  • So cool and simple - he is an extremely talented guy.

  • this is a coldplay song right? I think it's the intro for their viva la vida album

  • @djonesy69 Actually It Was Jon Hopkins First But Coldplay Took Parts And Used It For The Beginning Of Life iN Technicolor I And The End Of Death And All His Frends

  • @djonesy69 this is the DJ that helped Coldplay to create Life in Technicolor, =)

  • I'm pretty sure I just died.

  • @twobirdstone died and went to heaven?

  • @Ramazed yes.

  • i feel a rush of blood..

  • I came here after hearing his score for the film 'Monsters'. Absolute bliss, something I've been looking for in a while.

  • someone's been listening to The Edge

  • this is very powerful.

can someone please pass along any suggestions for similar artists/music? i've heard a few Jonas Bering tracks and there is some similarity with this.

  • Absolute bliss.

  • 2nite in Brno, Czech Republic!!! :)

  • Just amazing, touching, soft, intensiv

  • ...................This song is more enjoyable than every single other song on any of my multitudinous playlists.

  • Just saw 'Monsters' . No disrespect to Gareth Edwards but Hopkins soundtrack was the best component of the film. Bravo JH!

  • thats coldplay isnt it

  • @Vluppey

Yeah, I was wondering the same.

  • @Vluppey it's Hopkins, they used this as an intro. He was also a co-producer for the Viva La Vida album.

  • @laeccc yeah. thanks for the info. didnt know he worked with them on the album. but it kinda makes sense now.

  • Truly amazing

  • fantastic !

  • This totally is the background music for my dreams.

  • this is a masterpiece.

there is no other word for it.

thanks to the creator and the uploader.

  • like button must be remaked to LOVE

  • sounds a bit like Sigur Ros in electronic edition... awesome!

  • @feelda303 coldplay actually uses this on their viva la vida album

  • he was supporting Four Tet on Sat in Webster Hall NYC 10/22 and he gave much better show than Kieran

  • WOW!

  • its kinda crazy that this song is in the same genre as crazy frog and all that shit....Jon Hopkins isnt electronica....he is his own genre...call it......utopic

  • @tarheel734 if you're interested in finding more music like this, the actual genre is called ambient (perhaps a sub-genre of electronica). lots of good songs to be found in it, most far better than crazy frog.

  • Props to anyone making it clear to those who don't know that Jon Hopkins wrote The Escapist and that this is his fleshed out version for his own solo album.

    Cheers and peace.

  • It would be even cooler if he hd binuaral beats mixed in with it....Delta/Theta/Gamma waves.

  • this is "THE ESCAPIST" and the beginin of " life in technicolor" (both coldplays songs)
