@MyLalinea Oh,im not sure wat ur asking but juz 1 2 share wif u some info,the word silat is either from "Kilat"-which means lightning or "silap"-which means "mistake" which generally means (2 find the mistake).Silat has more then 200 kinds.I reccomend u 2 watch (on youtube),(silat bunga)which means 'flower style' and (silat serimau hitam) which means 'black tiger style'.Hope u learn something from there. :A message from SINGAPORE.

I was a warrior silat, silat is very great. keep fellow brothers, and mutual respect. in silat, warriors candidates tested in the physical and mental. different from karate and others. so do not insult Pencak Silat breathing before you know what that means "pencak silat" was

@Lounio1 : in past time, some silat style came from sriwijaya kingdom as you know sriwijaya is a budhism kingdom. Even now in indonesia you can find a silat style where this style teached in some catholic school, search Silat Tunggal Hati Seminari - Tunggal Hati Maria.

for me, this martial arts is not suitable as `a fighting sport`, fight sport limited the silat true movements (which is lot of lethal movements on it). In silat we poke our enemy eyes,kick the groin, twist the neck,hit the throat,solar plexus,ear,kneecap,ankle and smash our enemy backhead.IT CANNOT BE A FIGHTING SPORT, trust me.No offence, the silat championship is degederate this art, on the arena we cant use this true power of silat. face it, this martial art was made to injured/ kill someone.

jiu jitsu can beat shaolin...jason delucia was a shaolin expert who trained under the legends of jun fao and wih chun kung fu..and he laimed that he never lost in any fight for the past 300 fights...and when he entered the octagon in UFC 1 during the mid 90's he fought ROYCE GRACIE
