The LA Times Blog has what happened at the end. Apparently the driver fired a gun as an LAPD police dog was near him. The 2nd person running was a female passenger.

@182chad10 and did both of them get caught, because he was doing pretty good on getting away because of all the trees

From the LA Times:

"An LAPD search dog had found the suspect, who fired his weapon as the dog neared, Officer Karen Rayner said. The passenger had not been found."

@xxfunck I also noticed but you can see he wasn't on the call as he probably didn't even know it was coming towards him since he kept changing direction and second, he was stuck between other cars so there were no way for him to quickly get out of there. You normally don't join a pursuit if you're not called for it.

@xxfunck not all of the cops get behind him, they guess where he is going to go then go there to try and stop as much traffic as they can if they get the traffic stopped and he goes in the area it's then safe to pit him.
