  • thats a nice crappie even for here in MN. Good catch! You know you can drill an extra hole for the ice ducer and drop it in there so it never gets in the way right? ;) ;p;

  • @scottie56005 :) yes we know, but with the 9" hole, my flasher would fall thru it, that is why only 2 holes, thick ice so I use the gas auger...then the ice is thinner and I use my hand 6", I'll pop 3 and put flasher is it's own hole in the middle...I can't wait to get back on the ice, got a new tripod to test out some new 2011 videos. :D

  • @camofishon lol sounds good! You should check out hatcams.com I just got a hat from them. pretty sweet! I also just got a kodak playsport camera so i can do some videoing in HD baby! excited to try them all out together. hopefully the fish will think the same! ahahaha

  • that is a huge crappie, i live in ohio and we only catch them that big in the spring in the bushes. what were you using? and how deep?

  • @cobrass11

Caught on T.H.E. jig in black/red and 4# mono, I was in 18 FOW and the crappie were suspended from 5 to 10 feet under the ice.

  • @camofishon ok thanks. hope you have a good ice season. it will be a good one in ohio.

  • Nice crappie man!

  • my dad has a zercom i personally think it better than the vexilars

  • sweet

  • what kind of rod and reel do you use? I use a shakshpere reel with and ice fishing rod

  • I've got custom 24" and 28" UL rods and don't remember what kind of reels I've got.

  • Hey man, thanks for the release. I see people catching gills and crappies all the time and no matter how small or big it is, they keep them all. I see people fill up 2 5 gallon buckets and it disgusts me. every couple years the lake is not the same ice fishing. "I wonder why" I keep a few maybe 5 or 6 for a snack but do selective harvest. Thanks for the release bud, my biggest this year is 16" about 2.25 lbs. Nice catch man! is that the Marcum? or FL-18? Nice Vid!

  • The flasher is an old Zercom.

And I too only keep a hand full of fish a year. Enough for a lunch sandwich here and a dinner there. I'm 99.9% C&R fisherman. As you can see, all my videos here are C&R. :)

  • we catch crappie that size up here in maine by accident all the time on a couple smaller ponds through the ice but good fish ps trout and salmon are better

  • if I had trout and salmon like you guys in Maine, I'd be out there after them too. I'd love to try for some trout and salmon, but I'll settle for my panfish, hehe.

  • your in new york correct.. steelhead fishing is amazing htere

  • what is better about trout/salmon to catch them or eat them??? p.s. eaither way your wrong... i have caught 24-26inch brown trout threw the ice more then a 1or2 times & 2 get a big slab paper mouth up threw a ice fishing hole is damn good & with shore lunch deep fried it taste prity damn good as well!!! i have a lake 5-7 min from my house with big brown trout & decent sized rainbow trout in it & i drive 40 min past that lake to get to my panfish lake with good numbers of nice slab crappie in it

  • Catch and Release??? In Tn. we Catch and Release the GREASE!!!!! Nice Catch

  • Yes, this fine crappie was C.P.R.'d to swim and fight again another day.
