*raises coffee cup* Few people use modulars to actually make good music. much less even making the system itself.. You sir, are one of the only truly deserving people to own such a great machine... All others just have way too much money to throw away.. I can't wait to get my Lunetta modular finished. Truly inspiring video
There are 7 VCO's and four sequencers at last count. If I use a keyboard only - yes, it's monophonic - one key pressed at a time. But I don't use a keyboard much.
@bchris1776 how did you use the casio keyboard? i just took the keyboard assembly out of the shell, i have yet to pop the board with all the diodes off the keyboard (for lack of the proper sized philips head and didn't want to make too much noise with my drill at 2:19 am ;) ) is the keyboard assembly digital or analog? all i see atm is ribbon cable so i cant tell.
@TelcoBob Pull all the diodes, jumper the common grounds, and trace each 'bubble switch' to a point on the PCboard. Solder a wire to each bubble switch point and run it to a resistor ladder. I used the MFOS Keyboard controller with it.
Next time I'll avoid bubble switches and use a better quality key assembly.
There are so many videos of modulars out there where the users just make noise, but this is very refreshing to hear, I really like it. Keep up the great work!
Do you have a site or anything explaining your modules and where you got the schematics/inspiration for them?
I'm reading Thomas Henry right now (How To Build A Better Synth c.1987) and am seriously contemplating making a few of his DIY modules on the cheap. But I have zero experience with electronics/soldiering...
Although no keyboard was used for this clip, I do have a 1V/Octave keyboard I built... I hacked an old Casio (CT-310?) for the key assembly and built the Ray Wilson (MFOS) circuitry.
You could also purchase a midi-CV adapter and use any midi controller - that's probably the easiest way.
I think initially it took an hour, maybe an hour and a half. But I tweaked it quite a bit the next day before I made this video, probably another 45 minutes or so.
I have seen many documentations of modular synths in action, but this is the first one which really inspired me - not to build modular synths, but actually make music with them instead of just playing. I look forward to see/hear more from you.
sounds alive dope!!!

monophonic? It depends what you mean by that...

Thanks yasushi73 - Yes, I've built it over the last 3 years...and still working on it. Quite a few modules have been added since this clip.

nice to see something logical coming out of a modular setup

How do you get a keyboard for the module? I plan on getting my first Modular synth, and all I find are Modules, not keyboards WITH modules.

Thanks for the comments - I'm really just learning to make music with this synth.
Its capabilities excede my vision and ability!

Amazing. I want to learn not only how to build something like that, but use it like that as well.
