  • im still waiting for this download to finish so i can play this

  • dio is a great player but really Gucci impressed me

  • When will people learn, Carl was never meant to be a combo god? He uses techniques that screw you over if you get caught in them. Sure, people think the clap loop is unfair, but erm. His defence blows, hes can be easily outdone, and if hes seperated from his sister in the battle, its pretty much the opponents advantage to punish said Carl user.

Hes pretty much lower-middle tier, because of this.

  • is this game good i like anime mainly naruto and bleach but iam still unsure if i should buy this game

  • @MegaJones155

This game is excellent, but I'm gonna put this bluntly. Being an anime fan isn't nearly enough reason to get this game. This game is above average in terms of difficulty, and if you're not into the fighting game genre, you'll be like a fish on dry land.

  • @Shoryuken12345 ...from a guy whose name probably explains his playstyle STICK TO SSF4 AND STOP BITCHIN. Not like you really see that many Carls. -_-' The only Carls I run into are people who try to show my Carl up

  • So Dio has finally taken on Gucci? "Fabulous!" vs. overpriced, I guess...But why ARE they fighting?

Maybe Dio saw something he liked, but didn't feel like paying?

  • GUCCI!!!

  • Honestly for me, Noel is a cheap character (No offense), and that guy Dio is really a good player, he dominates Carl so badly, i just wanna learn how to play with Carl, its interesting.

  • Dio is really interesting to watch. He's awesome!

  • Wow...looks like I'm never going to be able to learn this game at a decent level after watching this haha. That was crazy how he caught the throw at 0:57 like it was on reaction, unless there is some technique behind it like option selecting in SF4 or perhaps it is a commonly seen follow up for Carl (?). My fingers would go into retirement after a match like this.

  • well the good thing is this game only goes by a simple 4 button system so any1 can jump on it. im pretty sure if u start playing it u wouldnt realize that u beat some1 possibly longer than this vid lol

  • For those of you complaining about the throw loop:

If you get caught in it, your deserve it, plain and simple. It's definitely an exploit, but try to come up with a fighting game where players don't benefit from exploits. It's just another part of competitive play. Can you blame Dio for doing it?

  • If all a character has is an infinite loop going for him than that character needs to get the fuck out.

Sure learning the loop might be hard but if it is a near guaranteed win then that characters needs to get nerfed fixed or deleted.

  • it's part of the game,that's it.

Rachel can be WAY worse without a combo like this, and same goes for arakune and V13.

If it worked that way, MvC2 would have been banned from the solar system. lol

  • fuck you and the throw loop, i'll be more than happy to kick ur ass in cs

  • Goodness gracious, Dio is a god. I'm trying to learn Carl right now, he's a nightmare to control properly (especially for someone who's never touched a fighting game other than SSB before) and I always get frustrated and vow never to go near him again, but all it takes is a Dio video on youtube and it's back to training mode for me.

  • Couldn't have said it better myself.

  • Why do people think the loop is fair?

    1. It has far far far far to many ways to start it up.

    2. Its infinite on some of the cast ex. Bang Tager Ragna

    3. Carl doesnt need it a good carl can sandwich and use nirvana as a shield effectively.

    4. Infinites are fair the term of it being a infinite combo should already tell u its unfair.

  • ragna can get out of the loop

and its hard enough to play carl play carl yourself and say that

the level of difficulty it takes to play him is pretty rdiculous

hes alerady lowest tier the loop only barely brings him to mid tier

  • lier he's the 5th most powerful bitch

  • I love seeing DIO's matches. I was thinking of using Carl as my main when I got the game, but found him so difficult to use properly that I gave up. DIO proves that Carl can be really effective once you get past the steep learning curve.

  • Great game. Really good players. Really really nice game.

Anyone of them could have won.

  • geez.. all this complaint about noel.. being "invincible" the game has been out long enough to figure out that.. doesn't last THAT long.

all this getting trap in the corner complaints.. ever tried using counter assault? or better yet.... it's called.. learning how to block.

  • You also have to be mashing good directions to get a usable D pressure going. Since there is a gap between them on block where you can do a lot of punishes. She's throwable and the invuln is so short that I wasn't sure it was still There when it reached consoles. Just use something with more active frames. or again throw her. Reversal super. Or block until she does the max she can in a chain and escape.

This is one that's solved by not making the same mistake over and over.

  • Both players are very impressive...Noel kept falling for air grabs over and over tho; or am I missing something..

  • It's a trap that Carl can pull using the marionnette clap attack coupled with air grabs.

  • If Noel had techd the grabs she would have been hit by the clap regardless.

  • yeah like jimdude says, stop being elitist. even if the spam drive is not 'unbeatable' it definitely is an unfair advantage. if you are in a corner (and nearly everyone goes into a corner or gets cornered in every match) then all the noel player has to do is hit D as fast as possible. no talent, no linking, no timing. just hit that D.

  • I think you should stop playing bad people online, because clearly you've never seen good people fight agaisn't ''invincible Noels''. Spamming the D in corner is far from being good or invincible, it's actually really dumb and you'll get punish quick enough.

  • Actually she has to stop then you have two scenarios

    1. She does a finisher= punish lag or super jump away

    2. she doesnt...hit her :o

  • i agree with that most definitely. i've encountered noel spammers doing that crap on a daily basis. unless you have a trick up your sleeve, escaping that shit in the corner is annoying.

  • haha wow another elitist. you guys are a dime a dozen. when inevitably your character goes into a corner or is hit by one of noel's attacks, it becomes a game of recover-before-she-uses-D-over-and-over-again. i could see the invincibles being great if noel mainers had to work at performing the invincible (making it like a 236 or 214 or w/e kind of combo), but instead it's just 'press D in any direction you wish' and thus it's just way too damn easy to spam with. that's a bad character.

  • Only one little detail. Only press D isn´t Noel, it´s Nu. And even there you have to know what you are doing to be able to pull it of.

So... what was your complaint again? A D spamming Noel can be punished.

  • huh!? sorry my friend mustve got on my account i didn't even watch this vid, lol

  • ur not even making any sense. what the hell's a 6C throw cancel combo?

  • it doesn't matter because you can't touch her when she's glowing. just keep hitting it until the second coming of Christ and nothing will stop you.

  • You can... There is a setup time for some of her moves and they are very easy to cancel as the startup for some of her her move is enormous.

  • Great match. They both deserved the win haha.

  • i wish i could play carl like that but i am putting all my time into mastering taokaka and litchi.

  • Actually, a friend of mine who had never played the game before used Noel and just mashed like crazy, and he was taking down people online.

  • @GatlingSmash yeah noel CAN be used with button spam but if you are against anyone half way decent you will get perfected

  • Noel's drive is easy to mash, but mastering her actual combos (aside from her drive strings) are pretty damn hard.

  • DIO is too good.

  • Those were some cah-razy loops from cah-arl cah-lover.

  • People are talking about maining characters so I have to say this. I find using Noel VERY boring. Not that I mind if you use her.

  • yeah noel is sooo boring lol, and also a button mash friendly character.

  • Dio is the reason I main carl. Watching him is almost a religous experiance, lol.

  • Carl looks like a lot of fun to play. I might main him instead of Rachel ^^

  • Ah, Dio, the man who defined ABA in GG...

Keep doing what you're doing, sir.

  • other than that, carl is still considered low tier.

  • Carl isn't cheap, the only thing she has is the juggling between her and her doll.

You can also throw escape every single one of her throws but you will eat the doll's clap.. (sry i dont know the name of the move)

you simply have to create space between yourself and the doll, because the doll is the only one that has a decent attack range.

  • Carl isn't a lady.

  • Uh...Carl's a dude.

Although everything you said about him is right.

  • excellent match..

the noel player is good, it just goes to show how great a carl dio actually has.

  • Nice Idk what the character is I'm just looking at the game play before the game reaches the uk so I can make my mind up to buy it or not.

The character that won I think its carl reminds me of ice climbers from ssbb.

great vid now I made my mind up on the Game and I'm buying it. XP

  • That's EXACTLY who Carl reminds me of. It's just like them to me (although I haven't actually played carl, just from watching.)

There is no problem with loops. MOST, not all, loops in a competitive fighting game aren't GAMEBREAKING. They may be a strong tactic, but actually landing, performing, and continuing the loop in tournament play is usually hard enough where the character needs it to be viable, and it's not so broken as to wreck the game. This seems like a needed beef for Hot Carl.

  • You just suck.

  • Carl? Cheap? Do you know what you're talking about?

  • That's why you see Carls all over the place...

  • Cheap? You have a lot to learn about fighting games.

  • So, is there a way to break out of that crazy loop move, then? The best I could think of is air recover into air dash, but with Carl adding that air grab into the mix even that becomes impossible...

  • Yes there is.

  • u cant air dash after breaking an air grab i think, u just fall straight down

  • Go buy some scorpion venom and drink it to the last drop. Shame on you.

  • Wow video of Dio I've found. The first one I only watched once before claiming to try out Carl once it hits the consoles. After playing with him for 3 days straight I see this one, and see that I using the same corner traps and sandwhich loops he uses. Albeit he's a lot more refined and spectacular, but I didn't expect to get so much influence from watching one video. BTW Carl is extremely complicated to use. I have to respect any competent Carl players out there.

  • Man DIO is such an awesome Carl mainer. I've been planning on maining Carl since I first saw him. I know his strengths and weaknesses. I also know that he has more weaknesses than strengths. But Carl is such a cool character and I will enjoy using him, so I know that I will definitely have fun learning him. Plus that clap loop is so amazing XD

  • the clap loop is also only escapable once. and thats by burst. carl is a tank of a character and will probably end up high tier

  • He's more like a glass cannon. I think he'll end up mid tier.

  • But there are only certain people that can weild Carl, which will make him mid tier. Tiers are not dependent on skill but rather on popularity in tournament (and how well they do).

  • Tournament standing is only one way to look at tiers, that also come from Match ups and potential. The problem with Carl is his match ups are not that great (I mean they are all average, but that is only because his loops and setup work on everybody), and his potential is low, meaning to win you have to set up a low and maintain it and they are hard to do, while a character like Rachel, and V-13 has a ton of options.

  • I dunno...he looks low tier to me...this guy is just really good, i could be wrong though, having to depend on someting that can gt hit is what hurts him the most i think

  • Having combos that do a lot of damage does not always equal high-tier. Carl will likely be B-rank at best because aside from the amount of damage you can situationally do, he isn't very good. I play Carl more than anyone else, but I still believe this to be true.

See ABA for details. Massive damage, great combos, not so great otherwise, is B-Rank.

  • who has the beast noel around right now and how hard is she to learn?

  • I'd have to say that GUCCI and R-1 are probably the best ones around. She's easy to learn, so she'll be popular among newbies once the game comes out on the consoles.

  • Damn. I liked her, so I was thinking of using her, but if she's easy to learn it seems hardly worth the effort...

    How about Arakune?

  • She's easy to pick up and button mash but hard to master. Its all about being quick and having good timing. I would say she's worth it to get good with, Arakune seems insane to get good with. Tried that character a few times and just could not get used to how he moves and his strategies.

  • reminds me of ogawa's eddie in ggx2.

  • Why would Carl be the hardest character? I'm new to this game and I plan on maining him and Arakune.

  • Seriously, take it from someone actually experienced: this game is the least noob friendly fighter you'll ever see since Guilty Gear. You can't just think "Whoa, Dio rocks, I'm gonna main Carl and he'll be just as good in my hands." Dio is after all the first Carl-maining tourney player and there's a good reason for why there were none before him.

No offense, but your chances for mastering Carl are really slim. I'd suggest you check out Zetaboards' BB guide (you can Google it). It should help.

  • Good. I like it when a game isn't noob friendly. it weeds out the weak. i can't wait for the challenge. unlike street fighter it will take more than a day to actually be good with a character and take skill.

  • yea at that he is the weakest character and in the console version something i cant remeber what it is but he is getting a revison and he is going to be in the low teir

  • Actually, if the characters are tweaked in the console version, it's a few new moves (like the screenshot in which Bang was using his nail), so characters themselves won't be changed.

  • Dio is my fucking hero.

I will mos defiantely be playing Carl when Blaz hits consoles. :]

  • Haha yeah, Dio is plain crazy!

..But I hope you're also aware of the fact that Carl is the hardest character to main in the entire game. That's another reason why everyone respects Dio.
