Wonderful song. Witchblade is one of my all-time favourite animes. Yes, it has some fan service, but it also has a heart and emotional level that most anime's lack. I was in tears at the end. Fantastic stuff.

With the Japanese Storyline the Darkness & Angelus do not feature, and the Witchblade's raw power gradually damages the host's body over time, plus gives it's host's even stronger urges towards Fighting & Bloodshed.

This Anime is the 3rd & last part of the Japanese storyline, with a short Manga series ("Witchblade Takeru") and a Novel ("Witchblade Madori no Shoujo") covering the two Bearers before Masane.

A future classic i think. especially as it's rather rare that you get a series with as a plot just as good as the fan service (usually it's one or the other).

Rarer still: It's just as watchable in English Dub, as good Dubs in Anime are really hard to come by.

The name of the anime is Witchblade and it is very well done, despite suffering from the same problem most modern animes do. That being that they try to cram so much of the manga into the end and it doesn't turn out very well or they lose funding to continue with a great story, so they need to make up an ending. The Claymore anime is another example of this, despite also being extremely well done, the ending was rather unsatisfying.

I appreciate the story, as the characters are well-developed and the story itself is well written, but the sheer amount of fanservice bothers me. There was no need for all the sexual innuendo, huge tits, and the intense showing of skin. If there was none of that, then more people would be able to take the show seriously. The makers of the anime shot themselves in the foot by adding in so much unnecessary fanservice.

It's kind of the opposite for me.

The story is what kept me watching it, but the fanservice is what made me want to stop. I think what was the straw that *almost* broke the camel's back was when a blade came out from Masane's vagina while she was fighting Nora. At least, that's where it looked like it came from.

I'll admit, the story wasn't perfect, but it was what kept me going through the anime.

The original was quite well thought out, but I can't critique as I have not seen either. Though some of the fanservice did kind of rip away from the story some times. I still find the story as it is told, a bit more boring than some others I have seen, equal in animation caliber.
