also what i noticed is if you use dragonrend on him and he goes down to the ground. Go up on the cliff and shoot arrows at him. i have an Ebony bow so it deals so good damage. But he takes damage that way

i fought him with a Daedric sword and i hit him no problem...maybe you need to have a certain weapon to be able to hit him. Also Dragonbane works as well i've noticed. Btw i'm a lvl 41 i got to him a little late but still i could hit him

I fought him with my lvl23 Nord, with a two-handed Skyforge Great Sword and it seemed as if my hits weren't registering either. Like you said, though, maybe it's not a noticeable amount of damage.

i had fully upgraded armor perks and legendary daedric armor, i managed to ground him with the dragon rend but he breathed fire at me strate away and killed me before i did any damage to him. this was a few days ago and i was level 41 im now 43, please can some one give me some tips on what to do.

I went to the top of the hill then kept knocking him down with the shout as i unloaded my arrows into it's head from up there....not sure if that did anything but after I ran out of arrows I ran down and began to strike with my sword and used the shout a couple of times. it worked faster than before it seemed.

i used cayusez's idea to use bow and arrow and at one point both the dragons stayed on the ground and were stuck so i was getting double damage to alduin

When he is down run to the far corner, the way he is facing and bow and arrow his ass from far and he cant touch you, the rocks shake you up but wont kill you. :) Bow and arrow FTW :)

i had the healing in one hand and the one axe in the other, but the trick is.. when you hit him with dragon rend and he flies to the ground hit him with the axe and heal yourself at the same time but as soon as your drangon rend is filled up and ready to go hit him with dragon rend again so he wont fly away. the other dragon will soon land and help you out. you just have to keep hitting him with dragon rend before he flies away again.

this dude is a idiot. first dragon to kill is marked on your compass across the top. not that hard to tell. and second you eat all the roots and crap, which i noticed you don't know what they do. so you are causing increased fire, frost, etc damage to yourself. its a strategy game. not drink everything swing my axe and hope i win kinda game

You're fighting him the wrong way. A 7 minute fight is clearly a hint of that.

Once u down Alduin with dragonrend, attack him once and use dragonrend again. Eventually he will not try to get up as fast again. Then u just continue hitting him and use a couple dragonrends. Shouldnt take more than 2 mins.

got it.... when alduin lands after hitting him with dragonrend, he will fly up when you get near him, as he flys up hit him with it again and he will land straight away. hit him as much as you can and repeat this. also dragonrend does health damage when he is grounded also!

I'm level 46 and it's a nightmare trying to kill this flying dude. Every time I get hit by his fire I die right away. I think one time I tried going around the back of him but he killed me by letting off a big one in my wood elf face. It's a shame we can't just defeat him through gentle debate and reasonable discussion. I honestly don't think this flying dude is all bad, I just feel he's misunderstood and needs a friend.

I killed him fairly easily because I joined the dark brotherhood and did all the quests in it, and if you do so you get a horse that cant die. The horse just took all of the damage from alduin and I could stay and hit hit hit :)

so i was level 40 when i did this and had two deadric swords that each did about 145 damage per sword and it didn't even hurt him, i died multiple times then got pissed off and loaded a previous load before i went up there, i then went back up, watched the cutscene and then fought him again and killed him in under 10 hits, so if anyone is having the same problem with this glitch just do this (like so everybody can see this)

I took him down in about 2 min! What I did was shot with down With the dragonrend then went to his wings and as you hitting his Wing not all the swings will register so you have to keep swinging and move around his wing. Then he will try to fly away and your dragonrend will be full so shot it at him and he'll come back down and keep hittin his wing! I was surprised I killed him so fast! Good luck!

took me a few tries but i found a really good and rather quick way to do it. Hopfully you have heavy armor that youve improved (mine ive smithed and then added enchantments to). But quite simply i used Dragonrend to ground him, then stood off to one side of him and attacked his wings with dragonbane (hopfully you have it fully charged) it takes health rather quickly, just use dragonrend ever 20 or 30 second to keep him on the ground (he keep turning to attack so he doesnt use fire or ice)

@DavidOrtiz36 You will still get hit with meteors but youll find that if you stand right up against his wing and continue to move towards his back (ALWAYS SWINGING AND ATTACKING) that the meteors also damage him. Keep him grounded with dragon rend, attack his wings, and have a good supply of health potions (youll probably only need to recharge twice if done right, less if done better) Pretty simple... i was rather annoyed at the shortness of the game as im only level 20 and i thought this was it

All your meant to do is use dragonrend to keep Alduin down on the ground for Paarthurnax to keep the damage going, its not hard at all. Dragonrend only has like a 15 sec cooldown and by the time Alduin tries to fly away, you just use dragonrend, if you time it right then you can keep him on the ground all the time. You will be instructed to do some damage on Alduin once he is on the ground.

go to console settings>memory>(y) button> and reset cache re-download the update for Skyrim

For PS3 User (do the same as XBOX users)

Game Data Utility>Skyrim Update (92 MB) Delete this update and re-download it

and you can Defeat Alduin :), thumbs up if this help you out

i'm level 10 and if you cant fight him here is a plan that works:

1) Hide in the corner where he cant reach you

2) Use Dragonrend on him as much as possible so he stays on the ground

3) let the Paathanox kill him

I had a great idea, i basically hit him with dragonrend once, waited until he dropped to the floor and kept hitting him as his health slowly went down. But the dragonrend restors quick enough for you to hit him with it again before he goes back up in the air, so he is always on the floor
