  • I feel your pain! Kudos to you for putting in so much effort for positive change!

  • Well, well, well. Heiferman responded to this. Look up the video titled "to edmond"

But the dude refuses to apologize (after all, he's a CEO and CEOs never apologize), and he gives Edmond empty praise and empty platitudes. All the while sounding extremely immature. Another fail.

  • Oddly enough my website (below) is done in Wordpress. Though I'm a newbie but I felt a point needed to get across too. You even got a reply! It's promising but the sad thing is that we know Scott has no intention of making any effort to change back. I think we all know that.

Thank you for your voice - if you feel it inapropriate please do delete my "sort of link" post below. Won't hurt my feelings, I wanted to express my support and respect.

  • Thank you! Well said.

  • "Helped Plan" is a total slap in the face!

  • I have 3 groups on Meetup & started 2 groups from 0 on meetup.com and also feel slightly used.

My face, information about my groups, my engagement process, my brand was burried or stripped with the update. And I am paying $144 / yr to Meetup.com for for using this platform.

Twitter has some hashtags (#) dedicated to this platform change. One of them is #newmeetup. Just type that into the search bar and you will see comments and links from others.

  • Everything -- and I mean EVERYTHING -- about this site overhaul was badly planned, badly managed, badly executed, and above all, completely unnecessary. Meetup has ruined its site, plain and simple. And in the process has pissed off a WHOLE LOT of people.

  • Scott Heiferman you need to see this! Listen...Scott...if you can teach your company to do one thing please teach them to listen.

Nice job with your group. I've worked several years to make a 5 star rating for both of my groups...one swing of the bat it's gone...all gone.

  • I love the video. And you are an inspiration on how to build a group. They just don't get it- how a great group is formed and maintained, and just human psychology. You can't force people to participate more in groups with software. It happens on the human level (and still you can't force people).

  • I agree with you. Star ratings taken away is horrible. I run photography classes through Meetup and they took away the pictures on the home screen which was my major marketing pull.... obviously! I just started my group in April. We've had over 130 meetups with a 5 star rating too! We are all mad but MU is not listening. The founder is attending Meetups in NYC about what's going on in Egypt! They don't care about us. we need to organize together and find another platform that cares.

  • Ed, wish i could buy you beer man! You've done an awesome job with your group and are a total inspiration. Hopefully Meetup will listen and we'll all go back to some sensibility.

  • Good job Ed! Meetup management has shown quite clear they have no respect for the paying members of their company, those of us who pay their bills. We take time to design our Home Pages to best reflect and in some cases market what it is we do and then in one day's time, Meetup.com has removed all of the input and graphic layout created to personalize organizer's efforts.

But, I just don't think anyone at Meetup.com cares.

  • As a fellow Meetup Organizer, I concur that Meetup screwed up big time with all the new changes. However, your argument rambled on too much and it was difficult to understand what your point was at any given time. I feel your pain, sir, and I just hope Meetup reverts back to a decent, usable site. Thanks for vocalizing!

  • @MichaelMLP He knows he rambled, he said so like 5 times.

  • sue them.... they need a massive wake up call. MeetUp is about the people, we want to connect, stop screwing us around and include us in future changes. The new design is so far from sleek, it's an embarrassment to whoever created it.

  • Word up !

  • Respond to this video... That is what I say! Tell it like it is! I say , "AMEN!" Tell it! You sound like Eddie Murphy.. "Lilly...This is MY House! Get the F&^^Out!" Jokes aside~ I am right there.. I don't like the new meetup either! Thanks for posting this video! I am feeling it!

  • So what I mean is we have to scroll way down so you can see the discussions. All of that stopped today! Not one post on discussions we had going on with 12+ responses per day.

  • You probably only have 1 event on your calender or 1 or so. I run a playgroup with 3+ events per day. I had created a community where we gave advice, played games, and shared pictures, "oh look how big Ellie is wow." and they say 'we're about meetups and this will create participation.' No the sense of community I created did. And like you said, we post events in peoples homes, playdates, and we bring our kids, why would I have any member post an event!

  • I fan based group that runs on donations, so I can't say I can totally relate. However, I 100% agree that they are not listening and it is unfortunate and needs to be changed. Also, allowing members to co-op meetups is also ridiculous. I turned this feature too. Thanks for making this video.

  • Touching on the map for a photo... it's so useless. It's a static photo that you can't navigate (ie. zoom in/out, scroll etc.) It's so blown up that you can't even get a good idea where the event is. Someone should be fired for the idea.
