If there are so many, why are you still breeding for the caramel albino morph?
There's a ton of other beautiful morphs that don't cause deformed spines.
You yourself said they were "trainwrecks". Obviously whatever gene controls the color morph also controls this deformation. Don't breed it into other morphs, and stop knowingly producing deformed animals.
i recently bought a caramel and from what i can see it is not kinked. Is being born with it the only way it can contract the spine issue? or can they get kinks over time? if anyone could answer i would really appreciate it.
"you have kinked carmels all over the place" then stop fucking producing them you fucking retards. yeah lets breed and breed a genitic retardation in the gene pool because maybe one day they will not have it? are you fucking stupied. why would you breed them.
and deezmups your stupied too carmels a morph it wont come from the wild especcially becuase only carmel albinos ahve the kink.
will kinked females be able to breed when they are really heavy like 3000 grams? i have an 09 caramel but her kink is no where near as bad as those two
Everyone who is blaming inbreeding needs to stop. As he stated it's a common genetic abnormality for those type of snakes. He's obviously a happy and healthy snake.
@mastuerzo90210 From what I've read, Inbreeding has nothing to do with why caramel albinos are sometimes kinked or spiders wobble. If it did, then more than just those morphs would be kinked/wobble. :p
@rrredzzz some snakes jusy dont make it some dont eat some cant shead right some hurt them and they have no other choice to put it down iv had to put one down because it was kinked so bad it wasnt bending right and wouldnt eat and i felt so bad i had to put it out of its missery
im confused, what did you mean about what you said at 0:50 , put it in a freezer? so when they have a kink, are they born with it or does it develope later? im just a little confused about that
interesting how they're kinked, and how on the second one he brought out had the messed up scales on it, thats awsome... sad though, my uncle had a kinked and she wouldnt eat, so had to freeze her, sad but it had to happen
i dont know exactly, but i think, a snakes backbone extends from its head to its "tail". If theres a kink for example in the middle of the backbone, all the nerves grow with this kink. i guess you have to fix that operative. could become expensive and i dont know if this was done yet. maybe some parts of the backbone have to be replaced.. if possible it would be very expensive. maybe 2000€ or even more. the snake would be still handicapped, it only wouldnt look more normal. explanation anyone?
i agree with that. Its really everything about marketing. i would be ashamed. nothing against the guy who produced the vid. its cool that he didnt killed the snakes, of course.
when i saw this video and i done some research on the ball python morphs and if their incubated at a lower temperature it decreases the amount of kinks in a clutch to nearly zero and the one that has the kink would be a very small one... he should look up about it and change the incubation temperature and humidity...
Actually recently breeder have been incubating caramel albino eggs at a lower tempature. Around 87F instead of the 89F that is usually used for all ball python eggs. This has actually lowered the amount of kinked caramel to almost zero.
So it is now being seen at a result of incubation and not passed down thru genetics.
Actually, if it is prevalent in this particular genetic mutation, BUT is also exacerbated by higher incubation temperatures, then it is indeed a genetic condition since this is the ULTIMATE cause (i.e., kinking is not prevalent in wild-type pythons incubated at 89F compared to those incubated at 87F). Incubation temperature is a PROXIMATE cause in this case. If one does not wish to increase their probability of producing kinked offspring then one is well advised to avoid this mutation.
=p what if its the next step in evolution LOL XD XD XD maybe snakes are going to become upright. after all thats Suposedly, how it works right? =p not a hate comment to you just using you as a vessel to bag on evolution xD
Your right, it would be called selective breeding. Such as the "boxer" which were not the way they are now and were very athletic dogs, now are for show.
RIDICULOUSLY gorgeous snakes! its a shame they have the defects though, but at least they're healthy and you give them a chance at a happy life, i salute you for that
putting snakes in the freezer is probably one of the most humane ways of euthanization. when they get too cold they just shut down and go to sleep. its alot better then gassing them i think, although it is sad. I am sure your snakes appreciate the chance to live :)
thats good what ur doin ralph. why not give a living thing a chance in life. and not fuckin kill it because it came out with problems like any other living thing in this planet. nothing and no one is perfect! peace and respekkt. cool vid and good lookin snakes. keep holding the thrown as a king as long as u can cus i might take it away soon . lmao!! .. i wish!!!!!
do you sell any of the kinks? i don't understand why someone would risk breeding a kink when it could possibly be passed on genetically and potentially cause the baby pain or suffering.
he just said he didnt use them for breeding!! and with asmall kink they can breed with little schance of major kinking. the only think i dont like is the method of puttimg one down..
thats what petsmart and petco does with their sick reptiles, throw them in the freezer, company policy. getting them treatment cost too much and cuts into profits.
I am in no way supporting pet smart or petco, they both need to go away. But they do not freeze sick retiles. I worked at petco and they all go to a local vet. I will give petco credit for that. The habitats and all are terrible but they did treat sick animals.
i guess that could be true for some petcos but ive also heard people that worked there tell me they were told to put 7 sick red eared sliders in the freezer
One of their store-level managers may have said to do that so that his/her higher managers don't come and inspect the store to find out why there are sick animals that need to go to the vet.
Petco/Petsmart suck in other ways but PETA has been breathing down their throat and that has actually had a positive impact on the way they treat their animals. (*officially* EVERYTHING ...except maybe fish... is supposed to go to the vet)
I worked at a Petco and saw them take a feeder mouse to the vet 3 times for a neurological problem... eventually the vet decided it wasn't anything that could be fixed, and so Petco adopted the mouse out as a pet (cage, food, etc.). And I have PERSONALLY seen two people get fired because the company found out they had stuck a sick animal in the freezer.
This is a REALLLYYYYY late reply (an entire year lol:P). But they put them in freezers to end their mysery. You see, he kept those kinked caramel albinos because he didnt have the heart to put down an animal that could easily thrive and live well in captivity despite its defect. However, sometimes the animal is majorly defective and suffers because of it. Thats when they euthanize the animal, in the most humane way possible, to end it suffering. It has nothing to do with profit.
That is something. I have never seen the kink before. I have heard about it but never seen it. This was a great video. It is nice to see the BP so healthy besides the kink. I have been watching your videos and visiting your site a lot lately and you have some really nice stuff. I am kind of new to the BP breeding thing. The caramel kinking is not due to inbreeding. There are wild caught Caramels coming straight out of Africa that are kinked.
DeezMups 5 months ago
@DeezMups if they are wild caught, they the parents could have been inbreeding
unless you know the parents, this is not a very good proof to "its not due to inbreeding"
Though it may not be due to inbreeding, this is not a proof

maybe if kinked is an allele for a gene, then it makes it recessive.... (inferior allele)
Meaning all kinked are never heterozygous...
So breeding both kinked would result into a
9:3:3:1 ratio.... would be 9kinked caramel
3unkinked caramels, 3kinkedcarier(normals) and 1recessivelynormalBP.... just a theory.....
