  • I liked Elsie Xarlisle singing this one

  • IT'S NOT A PSEUDONYM. I HAD A 45 ON RCA "JOEY'S SONG", WICH I'M LOOKING FOR. ALBERT

  • tks for posting my mother used to sing this song as she was about her daily chores

  • Has anybody else heard Reichman's solo piano 78 that has Lover, Come Back To Me on it? I'm just a kid who loves old music like this and can't stop playing that 78.

  • The band was real and so was he. I know as he was my cousin.

  • Can you tell me who the vocalist is on this record? I love Reichman's recording of "And Then Some" with Joe Martin on the vocal. Thanks for sharing this nice record.

  • Vocalist is Paul Small, who made dozens of dance band vocal recordings c. 1925-36.

  • J.R...."the Pagliacci of the piano."

Was based in Dallas in the 60's and used to hire bands from NTSU. I did a few gigs with him in 68-9...stricty droopy-drawers music. He was minor pain in the ass...probably wierded out having a band full of hippies in tuxes. Last time I saw him at the Hotel Texas in late '69 he'd had somebody write some rock charts. Mel Bay told me he'd worked with him in the 30's. He died in the early 70's I believe.

Invented the "Joe Reichman 7 bar ending."

  • Very interesting indeed.I often wonder what these 30s music folk made of the emergance of rock and pop and later punk etc, that was so different from this 30s "pop".Thanks for the comment.

  • I have the 1934 sheet music "Dancing With My Shadow" by Harry Woods (American Composer) but the cover also says "England's Sensational Song Hit" From The Musical Comedy Success "Thank You So Much" Maybe your unknown band is an English Orchestra?

Published Joe Morris Music, 1619 Broadway, New York City. The cover is green and pink, and there is a dancing couple in black silouhette.

  • Watching Robert Donat in 'The 39 Steps' the other night, was so nice to hear this lovely song in that 1935 film.

  • So, so nice this record. so, so nice the 163!

  • Somehow, I had this tune in and out of my head today at work??!!. I know why - it is such a good song, and this is a fine version!.

  • How great- nice rythm too..You lucked out!

  • A new thing for me to hear! a 30's amercan band. First I tought it was a german band because of the Reichman surename. But thit is complete new for me! I am only used to Benny hoodman and Glenn miller and Artie Shaw and many more 40's bands.

  • Nice tune and a typical Reichman record.

  • Crystalate issued many American Bands on Imperial and Rex, this seems to be one of them. A lovely song I had really quite forgotten about!!.

  • Yes this came from a very dusty junk warehouse i visited recently, that had a box of equally dusty and many broken 78s!!

  • Fantastic tune! Reichman, an American pianist, is not a pseudonym. His band operated in the 1930's. He mostly played the 'hotel rooms'. He recorded 80 sides for ARC and Victor between June 1934 and February 1942.

  • Very interesting as i did think it had an American sound to it.I like it very much.

  • I love him too, but it's true you don't see him much around.
