  • @vixenpeon i'm glad to hear that! thanks!!!

  • I have watched some japanese cooking videos and i came up with this question...

Why do you need to strain the flour?

  • @T3R1BL3 to make the flour soft with no big lump :)

  • YUM

  • it's a brazilian song!!

  • I checked two different Asian food stores, and neither of them had any ginger juice. They didn't even know what I was talking about when I asked. Maybe I'm not understanding something, but is there something I could maybe substitute instead of ginger juice?

  • @UniversalShrug that is a good question! when i say ginger juice, you grate the ginger and squeeze out the juice. i hope this helps... and hope it's not too late. maybe the salesperson doesn't cook that he/she didn't tell you this?! or maybe he/she thought something to drink! haha

  • @ochikeron Thanks for the reply! Its definitely not too late. I don't know why I didn't think of this. Thanks for clearing that up! I look forward to cooking this recipe.

  • thanks ocioci :)

  • I was hungry before I watched this. Now I am starving.

  • errm there's any substitute for the katakuriko?

  • @koto2211 potato is really easy to find in any grocery store these days its usually right next to the flour, but ive make something similar to this with corn stratch and it works well... but potato stratch is much fluffier

  • @faylinameir Thanks! i have to try it with corn and potato stratch :D

  • i call this JFC. so good!

  • I cook Karaage often during weekends. This chinese style japanese classic is so delicious.

  • this wont satisfy a black person..... just saying

  • Any substitute for sake/white wine?

  • @Ichisokeno not really, so please skip if you don't have. it is better to add to remove the smell of the meat.

  • @Ichisokeno If it makes you feel any better, cooking it like this should remove alcohol content if the wine.

  • @Ichisokeno I've used rum in a very similiar fried chicken, and substituted potato starch for corn starch, and it worked out fine. but it wasn't Karaage..

  • yummy! i love this recipe but my husband doesnt like dark meat can i use chicken breast? great channel, love your videos

  • @dignansgirl thats what she used.

  • @Pallina1897 She used Chicken thighs for this recipe

  • @raininghard you're telling me Chicken Thighs is dark meat?

  • @Pallina1897 Yes, in the US chicken thighs and legs are called dark meat because it is darker than the breast, which is called white meat. Also, beef is called 'red' meat and pork is considered 'the other white meat'.

  • @tdjtx i see! thank you i didn't know, in italy it's not so different but all the part of the chicken are white because of the color after cooked(sorry for my english). That's good to know anyway, now i won't make mistakes in us markets lol

  • @raininghard i guess you're right, I'm sorry in italy we call all the flying animal white meat, no differences between the parts. Didn't mean to offend you.

  • @Pallina1897 Naw, It's cool. Different people call it different things. Today I have learned that in Italy, all flying animals are white meat and you learned that in America, chicken breast is white meat part (which is healthier) and the dark meat are the thighs. The beauty of the internet! haha

  • @raininghard yay! internet is our friend!

  • @dignansgirl yes of course!!!

  • *mouth waters*

  • Brazilian music! :D

  • So does it taste different from Western fried chicken?.

  • @benitofinito yes. the soy sauce and ginger makes it taste very japanese. hehe i hope you can find the difference ;D

  • OMG the skin is the best thing of fried chicken!!!

  • Nya~ Normally i hate fried chicken, But when you make it it looks good :D

  • Can I use cornstarch instead of potato starch? tnx

  • @jccaymo25 yes ;D

  • @jccaymo25 I always use corn starch when I make mine. I'm curious how it would fry differently if I used potato though.

  • @jccaymo25 yes, you can use corn starch instead of potato starch.

  • @kamenraida06 美味しいよ〜☆にんにく入れないのが私流♪入れちゃうとにんにくの味になるからwこれ密かにポイント◎
