We are trained to use the amount of force needed to stop the threat. The threat from the suspect was a gun and the officer was exhausted. If the suspect had gotten his gun the officer would be dead (or the officer could logical assume the threat of death was eminent)

Daddy "didn't care what the video showed"? In other words, Daddy doesn't care what the facts are in the case, his son was right and the cop was wrong. I'm sure Daddy wouldn't have minded nearly as much if it was the trooper who had died.
I do agree with Daddy that his "son didn't have to die". But, Daddy isn't catching onto the fact that his son is dead because his son willed it. If anything, I think the trooper should be suspended and re-trained because it took him too long to shoot.

Yeah but imagine yourself in that situation. Have you ever been in a high adrenaline situation? He couldn't shoot because he was using his hands to hold the guy down. If at first he tried to shoot he would have let the guy free to shoot him.
It's always easier to say "I would have done this" then to actually do it.

the taser is considered a "soft open hand" technique. it's used at the same times as pepper spray could be. officers should always meet a suspects deadly force with deadly force of their own. this officer was totally justified.

You obviously do not know what you are talking about. Shooting someone in the arm or leg can still kill them. Also, shooting someone in the arm or leg may not stop the suspect from continuing the fight. And not all departments issue tasers. And let me ask you. If someone was trying to kill you what would you do?

If someone had a gun pointed to my head and was about to pull the trigger, then yes i would try to kill them. but if i was a cop, and i was lying on top of someone with a gun, i woud try to disarm them ( as i should have been taught in the academy) or try to shoot them in the leg or arm or injure them in any non lethal way possible that made it easier for me to get a hold of the situation.

We are trained to use the amount of force needed to stop the threat. The threat from the suspect was a gun and the officer was exhausted. If the suspect had gotten his gun the officer would be dead (or the officer could logical assume the threat of death was eminent)
