Sorry to rain on everyones optimism, but free/renewable energy just isnt feasible in a capitalistic society. And America, your the big dog behind the chain-link fence. You use 3x more oil than any other country. You are COMPLETELY to blame for the destabilisation of the middle east.
What needs to happen is a major paradigm shift away from capitalism to a new type of government, in which money and power are no longer the driving force of a nation.
using oil as an economic weapon!? SO what!!?? that is there OIL!!!! what gives us or anyone the right to go in and take it!!! oh wait the british have been doing it, the french, the italians, hmmmm . history keeps repeating itself. Power has already started to shift, and WE the people know what the deal is!
@christinaandzack oil doesn't do damage to living things when it is locked away in the ground. oil is encapsulated in the crust of the earth, and rarely does it just come out on its own. oil cant harm rocks, but when it is exposed to living organisms is when it becomes a problem. living organisms cant be around this stuff because its toxic and sticky. it clogs their mouths and breathing systems.
research the imf and the world bank. i mean really research go deep into the rabbit hole. the war in the middle east was more than just needing some oil.
I'm having trouble thinking of anything else that's worth spending blood on. Sure as hell not buying gold with blood, you can't use gold for anything. We've got rubber, we've got land, we've got metal, no, oil is basically all we need right now. So spend away, just keep the exchange rate good.
The term is petroleum, not gasoline. The public thinks the addiction is to the gas to run their cars, but it is also the asphalt the cars drive on, and the plastics that half the car is made of. The part of petroleum not turned into gas, is the basis of hundreds of industries. America's economy runs on heavy crude.
Just like the 47% of the cow not eaten by humans, is the raw material for hundreds of industries. Millions of cows aren't fattened and slaughtered just for burgers.
I am sorry people but everyone is addicted to dihydrogen monoxide. I mean shit you can't go for days w/o it and if you have too much of it it could kill you. You dont even know it, but right now ppl in the world are users; your wife, ur doctor, ur lawyer, ur teacher, even ur kids and parents are users.... YES WE CAN overcome our addiction to dihydrogen monoxide! CHANGE IS COMING!
And it is all about everything, power, oil and all kind of business. And the Globe is spinning too fast now. We have to slow down to be able to survive. Survival of the Species has begun
It is all about how to prevent nuclear disaster. It is a World War III wiping out people slowly. I hope we use robber bullets not to kill. It is all about to save the Globe. Don't be at the wrong place at the wrong time. Wars are always existed and will be exist until the end of the life in Earth. It is all about how to clean nuks from falling into wrong hands. Every country owns it now.
i just typed in blood for oil and lots of stuff came up, this is all so horrible see oil allowed the world overpopulate especially in areas of the world where people cannot live without oil (cold climates) so when the oil runs out millions will be in turmiol and have to move to warmer climates where they can live off the land and not by driving to the grocery store, everybody drives so much and its just plain sick, the whole educational system in this country brings kids up to be dependentonit
saadaam was selling his oil in europe and usa needs enough oil so they had buy it back from europe so it was making the dollar drop which caused bush to invade iraq so they stole their oil.
Who said quickly? The changeover can happen within 15 years, that's 90% of all oil consumption and use GONE! And who the hell said anything about hydrogen? Hydrogen is a bullshit energy to bilk more money out of us. Hydrogen should be used commercially like for trains, buses and semis. Not for normal civilian use. We could have 95% of the nations drivers using EV's in 10 years, this could of been accomplished sooner if GM and our own government wouldn't have killed the idea back in 2000.
I had an opportunity to watch this movie at my University. It was very imformative and mind blowing. It is very well chronologically organized and trying to reveal the truth of why we are where we are now. After the movie, we had interesting discussions for about 30 minutes. If you haven'y seen this movie, you really should, then tell your opinion. We can always investigate wheather or not what it's told in this movie is true.
When a large world power invades a sovereign country in order to control the flow of oil, well, that's the sort of storyline that normally brings hundreds of thousands of protesters to the streets chanting "No Blood for Oil."
But will we be seeying the masses of the world rise up and condemn Russia for its naked aggression against its smaller neighbor, Georgia? I'll be waiting, but I won't be holding my breath.
To you NeoCon "Christian" posters. Read of the principal tribe of Persian Hegemony being restored. It is Elam. G-d said he would set his throne in Elam. Jeremiah 50:38-39. our leaders can easily do just that, but they wont. they'd rather give oil companies tax breaks and not share their fair amount than let us switch to alternative sources of energy. the politicians wont let that happen because sa, kuwait, and venezuala are lining their pockets with cash.
Our streets should run with blood and our government should fall for the criminality and thievery that exists within its halls of betrayal. We are led by predators who live from lie to lie and mass grave to mass grave. They speak of the Christ out of mouths that smell of the sulphurs of hell. We are just as slimey as we go to our stupid dwindling jobs. Our personal damage is just not as encompassing and massive as our "leaders" are. The U.S., is multi-level compartment of deceptions. DeathZones.
The only reason 'your leaders' don´t do that is they don't want to stop money from coming into oil companies (i.e. their own) pockets. If S.A., Kuwait or Venezuela had a problem with it, do you think the EU or the USA would give a rat's ass?
Yeah, because if our oil companies fall, then our tobacco companies fall, our plastic companies fall, our last remaining steel companies fall, along with half of the little production that we have left in the U.S. We are fucked, as is most of the Western Civilization.
Oil has the human race in a grip that CANT be broken...you think solar power, wind energy, Hydrogen, electricity, and water is going to fix our problem? what about 18-wheelers, space shuttles, military vehicles...EVERYTHING.
The US has less than 2% of the worlds oil within it's borders, yet it is the worlds greatest oil consumer, the resulting foreign policy is obvious. This problem with continue as long as an elite of plutocrats, empowered by the massive profits from oil, maintain exclusive control over the political spectrum. This has produced a reactionary system, where any move away from hydrocarbons is avoided because it will destroy the business model of companies like Exxon/Shell/Haliburton etc
The 'war on terror' is a replacement for the cold war paradigm. During the cold war paradigm the idea of an absolute evil enemy was used in order to help the US secure open markets and an hegemony of control over South America. The war on terror is the same mechanism, only this time the enemy is (by no coincidence) the people who live in the area of the world which contains 60% of global oil reserves.
man if could get all the machines to run on sunlight, vegetables, alcohol, hydrogen and shit like that we could get up out the middle east, and stop fucking up the earth, that simple. I don't know why the gov't doesn't see this, and starts to really pour money into alternative energy.
Alternative energy Is on its way buddy. But it will take about 20 to even 30 more years before it is here.
There is a new study on solar panels, you take the energy of the sun. Make water and split the atoms. While the atoms are at pure state, before coming back into contact with the other, the other atom goes into a cycle producing electricity.
Therefore having the byproduct as water again. The pure water will than be broken down and reused again and again till evaporation occurs. Than the sun comes into play and there goes the whole cycle again. It was on KQET last night. Quite crazy 0_0
ran on vegetables? that's great, we'd have energy but couldnt afford to eat! even if all farmland in the us was used to grow corn for ethanol, that'd only make about 13% of our energy needs
Cool, but just to be clear, fuel cells are not a new source of energy but more like a battery. They are still only as clean as the energy used to create them. We would need a clean renewable source of energy like solar, geo-thermal, wind, hydro, nuclear, etc to create the fuel cells.
I think concepts like bio-fuels will be a far more cost-effective, clean, and renewable way to approach powering our vehicles. Switchgrass has some amazing returns on energy.

It would take many decades. Its not the oil running out that is the problem, its the cheap oil and its extraction costs.
Buy the Lastoilshock book by David Strahan, BBC journalist. Lets see what you really you know.
