  • Can you please give me the settings for the patch @ 3:47?? I LOVE that sound!

  • hehe awesome sounds!

5 ***** added to my favs

  • What the name of the movie, please?

  • The sound you make at 1:00 is one of my favorite sounds I've made on my Odyssey. It's like a grungy electric guitar lead. Great sound.

  • Dude, your videos rule!

  • I would love to have one of these!!!

  • how do you learn to play synths as well as this? do you have to learn to play piano, or just teach yourself on the synth? must be hard

  • @MrDrummon

lol, its like a piano as in each key plays a note, and the note layout is the same, but it can create lots of different voices... through modifying different parameters(changing the wave form) through analogue means or in the case of digital synths, algorithms. (plz correct me if i get the specific technical details arse about)

  • the need to know how to play piano depends on what you want to do. To do covers or actually write complex songs you need to know more, than if you just want to dick around or write simple melodies in C scale (all the white notes). with most polyphonic synths (this one isn't polyphonic, one note at a time) u could easily teach your self to play traditional piano. Some people don't even bother learning traditional notation, just learn songs from midi tracks or by ear.

  • traditional notation isn't that hard to learn.

anyways this awesome guy jexus obviously knows how to play traditional piano (lol probs made to do it as a kid) cause almost (not everything) everything he plays is his not covers. He knows how to write songs in a key. Also his fingers demonstrate correct posture.

  • A link has been added for this video on the Ultimate ARP Odyssey Resource Website

    Nice job.

  • great demo

  • good

  • nice.

  • my atari sounded pretty much like this hehe

  • How much does one of them costs?

  • MONSTER!

  • OMG... that very model was my first synth. That brings back some memories!

  • 1:25 - GABBER!

  • @Yunneck hell yeah (H)

  • 6:51

freaked the shit out of me

  • wow, THIS IS WHY analog sound will not back down, way to go Brah~

    rock on Polskie!

you got some GNARLY tones off this CLASSIC! DIRT-E BOY!

Inspires me to take mine and get it repaired once and for all!

  • really cool synth and good video to match. Very grainy and strange like a cheap horror or snuff film.

  • wow, it sounds really industrial

  • Spot the ugly dude at 06:51

  • Great Demo. Thanks for sharing your videos ;-)

  • stop arguing about the sound between the ARP and the Moog. Or don't you know that each keyboard has its own sound? The polivoks doesn't have a moog filter and either does the ARP('cept the very few ones that do). It is what it is, now move own. I personally use an ARP Odyssey MKII, Yamaha DX7, Korg DW8000, and Casio CZ-101, and I don't expect one to sound like the other. Buy the synth with the sound you want, then shut up already

  • @Locust1313 This one has the moog filter haha. Lucky bastard!

  • Actually, the tags say 4075... Sounds like a 4075... The "Moog" filter was 4035...

    OP?

  • @taigkyo mmm yes a 2 pole one i think lol

  • never watch someone using a minimoog when you're really fucking high. it's fucking scary. lol.

  • why is that? every demo this guy makes sounds very hard of rave techno like.. its ok. but its not showing these synths from every aspect.. anyways, thanks for the show ;-)

  • Small, nice and good sounds... What can i say more about ARP Odyssey ? I like this small synthesizer, it give many opportunities to experiment... It´s cute...

  • I still can't my head around the bizarre logic of ARP interfaces, I mean, why do you select the waveform in the amp zone?

  • I need a Odyssey and a Polivoks also...

  • ARP synths do sound brilliant compared to the Mini. But the Mini does amazing things and has a beautiful voice of it's own. So - buy one of each!!!

  • So Carlos Santana considered the Odyssey a "feminine" synth and the Minimoog a "masculine" synth. I dunno'.........I think the Odyssey has balls!!! Albeit, completely different "balls." I know, back in the old days they shared some of the same components until Moog cried "foul"!!!!

  • Wow wow wow :D

  • super nice!!

  • damn, u r giving me ideas for 10 songs in this demo

    u are super creative

  • Your filter has 12db our 24db?

    Thanks Andy

  • I think Arp Odyssey is much better than moog minimoog and more beautiful...

  • 6:50

  • friggin' nasty basslines

  • 0:21

    Jungle Love - Steve Miller?!?!?!

  • Now that I've played with the ARP ODYSSEY I can safely say it is the BEST SYNTHESIZER EVER. Even better than the minimoog. Yeah I know the minimoog is warm and fuzzy and it has character but the odyssey can take you to 1000 MORE DIMENSIONS!!!!!!!!

  • @Mattyew

Much more experimental synth! Encourages the player to explore!

  • what camera did you use to record this? i love the shitty quality, takes me back to all my home movies haha

  • dude ur so fucking awesome at playing!!

u really can shred it on this thing, nice work!!!!!

love the odyssey to, so many freaky deaky things to flip around with. how much would one be in aus?

  • What's the patch @ 1.50? It's badass!!

  • quality !

  • Comment removed

  • do vintage synths go for any less in poland, some of the prices in england are just a complete piss take!

  • zoso11: values of them in Poland are exactly the same + far more ridicoulus comparing to an average polish wages. plus they are hard to find as hell. you should really enjoy deals in the UK.

  • i have imported most from Japan, even with import tax its cheaper than what some people want for them here in the uk

  • but remember that many synths selling in the UK are still very underrated and cheap, eg. soviet ones. last week i have bought russian Junost 21 for only 30 quid and Ritm 2 for only 160. silly! imo both sounds great! a pure analog power. just imagine a price for such a polysynth or funky moog-like monophonic if they were made in USA or Japan!

  • I can't agree. The sellers in Japan have gone totally mad with their prices! They are even higher than here in Europe without added tax!!!

  • thats crazy i was watching this video only 45mins ago again. Well im yet to find a synth i was after for a reasonable price over here in comparison to japan yet. But i guess it changes as the currencies change up and down. If one of these or a Korg 800 DV it would be nice.

  • what's with the cars

  • very very nice, jex love the percussive pukes at 3:30

  • You really know how to make these instruments come alive! Very creative videos, too!

  • Only Moogs and Arps sound this fat. Other manufacturers can only dream of filters such as these....

  • haha, so true!

  • why does the filter sound different tha rolands and korgs

  • because it is an ARP, they have a different filter design.

  • ARP Odyssey.....special sound....great machine!

  • Man, you've got balls!

  • want one to make some elektro music xD

    Old skool DJ

  • killer

  • excellent!

  • if i had the money i would buy all them analog synths :)

  • analog forever

  • Super !!! Nice tune ! :-)

  • Still the best ARP Odyssey demo on the web! GAME OVER!

  • Rokin!!

  • Movie clip --- We Run The Night

  • this one have very smell of speccy and c64 sound and soul... hehehe... Tim Follin and so on reembered... great times of East Block poor childhood. =)))))

  • great playing and sounds! what an awesome synth and what a great synthesist!

  • Great demonstration! And the imagery was perfect with the retro sounds. (assmuming, of course, you didn't just use some old Betamax ;-P ) Make me wish my Oddy was working, now it just collects the dust... :-(

  • Lucky is the band that gets to work with you as a producer. Do you have any music released anywhere? Would be interested to know... Incredible video!

  • My mate bought a white and orange faced version recently and it sounds so cool. We'll be uploading some of our tracks onto this site very soon. All of the classic monosynths will feature on the tunes. Very nice demonstration and so many sounds from this guy.

  • Outstanding !

  • gotta say buddy, u know the oddyssey inside and out. i had one. theyre great machines. and youve tamed it. u popped on a saddle and rode that synth all around the sonic rodeo. good job :D

  • great comment STINKOPOOP, yeah WC Olo Garb (jexus) plays and works that Arp so well!

  • thx i love this vintage shit, nice video good work.

  • Hello, I've posted this video on switchedonsynthesizer.blogpost . com

  • Oddysey...beyond fat.

  • but not to play transposed !!

  • very good synthesis , nice themes like actual techno or dance can be exploited !!!

  • totally frikkin A !!!!!!

at least some one does the effort to show what this synth really can do.

Your fingework is awesome as well.

    peace.

  • syntezatory, does yours have the 4075 filter in it?

  • monster!!!! that is from like, the year 4000 or somthing, amazing! better than a juno.

  • ARP is so much like moog that it is crazy. I do have to say that moog is more reliable. What killed the ARP was dust getting in the sliders. Still a great synth! Thanks for posting.

  • in zodiac - disco alliance a ARP Odyssey is used. Very nice band, very nice synth :D

  • That sound at 05:32 sounds really interesting.

And that synth sounds pretty interesting overall. Well, it also depends on what you do with it of course...

  • this synth is...obese.

  • i like the riff that starts at 2:53. is it your own?

  • This mustve taken a while to compile, seeing as you can't save patches with this beauty. I'd be to afraid I couldn't remake a good patch, but then again, maybe not.

  • I had one for about 4 years... loved it soooo much, i would spend hours just losing myself in crazy sounds.. i miss it alot.. be careful of credit cards.. i had to sell my ARP to pay back a holiday debt.. the holiday was good too but the odyssey is a keeper. When i finally get some spare cash i will buy a 2600.. as if any one cares .. LOL

  • WOW this nice its the one with yhe illegal moog filter sounds really dirty :)

  • I don't think so. The one with the Moog filter is the MK2 model, and has the PPC pads; this has the pitch knob. Some of the MK1 models were black.

  • Thanks for info. I din't they made them in black i've only seen white one's

  • I love it!! unfortuntely, only have oppurtunity to get solus or chroma polaris right now...are they as versatil/phatt?

  • Nice demonstration - is it a 12 or a 24dB Filter?

    Regards Martin

  • From the look on the i say 12bit

  • LOL

  • cool synth monophonic is cool

  • Wow... best synth sound ever!

  • could do w/o the french connection

  • great sound!!!

  • I really wish I had an odyseey... nice video editing also.

  • Syntezatory ROCKS!!!!!

Just got mine in last week.

    MK 2 gotta lova it.

    Respect 8)

  • the sample and hold module mixer is verry powerfull

  • if you've ever seen the movie the blues brothers, i think that is your chase scene!!!!!

  • awesome!

  • nice stuff..

  • hey groovy,, synth very actual sound !!!

  • stary ten arp jest nie do wyjebania!!!

  • Now that's what I can fat sound...

  • Florian Schneider from Kraftwerk used to use a ARP Odyssey, he can be seen playing one on the 1974 video of "Autobahn" with Kraftwerk.

  • this is my new fav synth

  • odyssey sounds darker than minimoog i believe. that's what i've been looking for, a darker sound.

  • minimoog sounds like Wood. Arp like steel and concrete. :)

  • Best video editing....EVER

  • dude... why do you have so much awesome synths... fuck!!!!

  • I love it, forget minimoogs, i like odysse's better 10X. You should cut a noise record, i'd buy it!

  • man i love your videos, the details and work you put in them...very cool. and that is one of my dream synths right there...

  • great great great performance sounds !!! excellent , i like ARP and I dream on the 2500/2600 moduls

  • Nicely varied patch set and very creative playing. What software did you use to make the video?

  • Technika VHS jest celowa? Ogólnie mocno kultowe Twoje filmiki.

  • oh, voila qui est édifiant!

  • That would be interesting to know the patches you have used.

    From a happy 2813 owner.

    Respect.

  • reminds me of Billy Currie from Ultravox.

  • Very inspiring and the best oddy vid on the tube! Finally got a nice mk2 myself and I must say this vid speeded that decision up!

Good fun and great sound (tried settings from what I could see, no luck) at 1.20 with the car chase.

Wish there were more vids like this, but there's only one such thing as the oddy! :D

  • awesome demo! thanks a lot for sharing!

  • what an angry cuss!

  • ohh those basses!!!

  • how are you getting that sound at 55 seconds?

  • good synth

  • that is the best demo I've ever heard. I'm sold!

  • I love my arp! I have the same one! The black and gold with mysteriously NO PPC control.

  • Very nice synth, I'd love to own one. i like how you threw in the Allstate comercial (or that's where Allstate got their commercial). Either way great movie.

  • WOW! I love this machine and its sound. Cool video!

  • Absolutely fantastic demo and very creative presentation!

  • Wonderful sounds.

  • Brilliant (as usual).
