I like both Lipstick and Shot by Both Sides which is the first song Magazine got together to record. I got to see Buzzcocks

perform in Chicago in 1980. The back up band was Gang of Four! Still remember the show which was just stellar.

There's a good reason why it sounds like "Shot By Both Sides" - it's the same song with different words. Pete Shelley has a co-writer credit on "Shot By Both Sides".

No, Shelley wrote the riff, and Devoto asked if he could borrow it for a song for his own band, Magazine. Later Shelley wrote this song with the same riff.
