You know what I'd like to see? These guys not trying to act bored, pretending like they're not enjoying playing their music. 30 plus years later their apathetic going through the motions on this just look affected. Come on, lads! You had the liveliest, most upbeat stuff going... smile!
I never realised that Shot by Both Sides 1978 had traces of Lipstick all over it. The chords must have been lingering round since before Howard Devoto left Buzzcocks to form Magazine.
shelleys great songwriting, diggles guitar, garveys bass and the amazing john maher on drums..plus rushents production..loved to buy a buy a new single with those guys..and this is the b-side!
How many bands today could record tracks live for an album without the help of protools and other software? answ: none, with the exception of Jack White.
There's a good reason why it sounds like "Shot By Both Sides" - it's the same song with different words. Pete Shelley has a co-writer credit on "Shot By Both Sides".
No, Shelley wrote the riff, and Devoto asked if he could borrow it for a song for his own band, Magazine. Later Shelley wrote this song with the same riff.
I think the Ramones (my favourite band) and the Clash are the best punk bands ever, but the buzzcocks are one of the greatest as well. There's never mind the bollocks standing on my shelf, but that's almost all I can say about the sex pistols. they're good, somehow.
you know, you should be more tolerant about other people's tastes, and especially about different kinds of bands/music. I didn't say anything against the Damned, so go fuck yourself if that's how you want me to talk to you, dimwit.
the Ramones were probably the only band in history to be forced by a certain Phil Spector (80s) with a pistol to CONTINUE recording sessions. mr spector´s now in prison for shooting a stalking lady ro death who allegedly wanted (he says) to intrude into his house........

I like both Lipstick and Shot by Both Sides which is the first song Magazine got together to record. I got to see Buzzcocks
perform in Chicago in 1980. The back up band was Gang of Four! Still remember the show which was just stellar.

saw them in Tampa circa 1993, couldn't have been more than 40 people. Yet, they rocked it for nearly 2 hours. Great band (duh)
