  • I think my snail has done this. We noticed these in the tank, but being layed at the bottom? under the water. We also had this bizzare black thing that seemed to have crawled from under the shell? It swam around and look like it had little black dots on it. And little tentacles things? But our snail looks like it's been eaten on the shell. Part of it is breaking off, and it looks greeny? Is there a parasite in my tank, or a snail laying eggs?

  • That was pretty fascinating the way the snail uses it's foot to carry the eggs from under the shell to the glass. I have Ivory and purple Apple snails and they lay eggs all the time but I've not yet caught them in the act of laying.

  • What happens if I removed the eggs!!!! HELP PLEASE

  • @SmokeWeedEveryDay629 RE:"What happens if I removed the eggs!!!! HELP PLEASE"

Not sure I understand your question. I remove apple snail eggs all the time because if I didn't I'd have more snails than I could raise in the space I have. I simply discard them. If you are talking about removing the eggs to hatch them, yes it can be done - info regarding this can be found at the applesnaildotnet forums. I've never done this - I rarely have a batch of eggs that fail to hatch.

  • @SmokeWeedEveryDay629 whatchu gon do?? smoke that too??? haha jp

  • stupid question, will golden apple snail relatives mate with each other? silly question i know but still

  • damn slow even laying XD

  • i got me one... and i guess it was already pregnant or something... and now i have over 200 hehe.. and a bunch of eggs

  • snails are hermaphrodites

  • @Hammerofthegods86 not golden apple snails, you uneducated fool

  • can apple or nerite snails lay eggs or mate themselves? And how do you make their eggs healthy? Oh and where to get pH? Can you get it from your tap water?

  • i love my luck, bought just 1 apple snail when i was out( they dones sell em where i live) and it was storing sperm! It layed eggs just 6 days after i brought it home(it layed eggs today, and i bought in on sunday)

  • How to identify whether a Snail is male or female ??

  • My snail laid eggs....one week later there was more than 50 tiny snail in my fish tank....and i am not kidding...After a whole month my whole fish tank was covered in hundreds of tiny snail....i had to separate them from the fish...so i put them in a different tank but they ended up eating their mom...I just noticed they reproduce themselves..Stupid snail now i cant get rid of them..Im NEVER going to buy another water snail EVER. Stupid snail invasion:(!

  • Where can I get a snail? Will you send me one?

  • @DyerRose pet smart

  • What is your location. I'm intrested in purchasing one of the snails.

  • If there is no mate available, they will fertilize their own eggs.

Snails mate in pet shops. They will mate in your aquarium. You may not notice. Some of them don't have to get very close since the male has quite a reach. Although if you happen to notice that going one, it may be pretty impressive. To make them mate, simply give them good conditions and wait.

  • how do u tell if der male or female?

  • ehhhewwww

  • how much each? im interested :D

  • wtf how do snails even lay eggs

  • how do the eggs travel upwards?????

  • I have 11 gold fish and 3 snails, if one lays eggs, will my fish eat them? once hatched?

  • @landfieldthe3rd Of Carsee~~~~~!!

  • so wtf lol i have one snail and ive had it for awhile and its laid eggs ... without a mate ... wtf lol ?

  • i need help please could mystery snail mate by them selves or do u need 2 of them?

  • @ak74u2 you will need a male and female to mate. :-)

  • @flashout79 ok thank you

  • @flashout79 mystery snails can reproduce on their own. :)

  • @ak74u2 female apple snails can store sperm for many months so dont be surprised if u have a bunch of baby snails on your hands

  • @Hiimhaselah ok thanks

  • @ak74u2 i know im kinda late thoe

  • @Hiimhaselah its ok

  • What is the difference between apple snails, mystery snails and brigs snails?? Which one of these does not eat plants?

  • @snypathug Mystery snail is another name for apple snails. That's what I heard EINEEWEISS!!!!!!!

  • i hav just a bowl and its going to lay egg so should i remove them into a cup or sometihng

  • mine is laying eggs right now. how many do you think there will be?

  • @addictgnome several hundreds!

  • @treeofnature not egg sacs lol only about 15 clusters, with about 1-2 hundred snails per cluster. im down to about 3 hundred left. ive been giving them away like gum. and as soon as i see mating they are seperated into one of my two tanks

  • dont worry about that push the eggs in the tank the fish gets some yummy food, and if they hatch they might go into the adult snail's shell to hide and get attacked by the adult anyway

  • I have a really tiny snail in my tank and I noticed he/she was on my tank heater today and later on found a jelly-like ball thing with little dots inside. Is that eggs from my snail? I took them out and put them in a fish bowl so they wouldn't get eaten by my danio. Should I have done that? Should I put them back? Is that from my snail?

  • @xxasphyxia bad bad bad, never put them in water, the eggs will drown and die

  • For anyone who wants to breed snails: Be prepared for hundreds of snails overpopulating your aquarium in a matter of weeks.

  • If you don't it to be over populated.. lower the temperature, reduce the food and add in fish to the tank. This will help. :-)

  • @oOoRandomnessoOo sell em or rip out the meat and cook em

  • @oOoRandomnessoOo

I wish that were true for Helisoma trivolvis. I've done electrophysiological research on them. Care to tell me which snail species that overpopulated your tank during breeding?

  • I purchased my mystery snail months ago, yet recently in last two weeks it had two egg clusters on my tank hood. Today it has another one! How is it possible for a mystery snail to lay fertilized eggs without a mate? Cuz I only have one. Someone PLEASE REPLY.

  • Maybe during it at the pet shop have mate. Apple snail require both sex in order to fertilize the eggs.

  • @flashout79

    No they don't.

Snail's don't have just one gender.

They are both male and female so they can lay fertilized eggs without another one.

(wait...are there some species of snail who have one gender? like apple snails?)

  • @arcjustice already preg or otherwiase the species can self-make-love

  • A female can hold a males sperm for months.

  • @arcjustice i read that if needed it can change its sex sounds wierd but its true

  • @arcjustice thry dont need a partner to reproduce. they can do it on their own. that happened to me 2.

  • @blacknwhite1379 They're alright and everything, but when they get too big it becomes a problem=/. I had to give mine away.

  • @arcjustice This just happened to me. A month ago, it climbed out of thetank, so i kept the lid on it. Every week my orange snail laid a cluster of eggs. None have hatched. I wonder if they are just unfertilized eggs?

  • do the fresh water snails need a pump to survive ?

  • Depend on your water conditions and filter. If filtration its good enough, then no need air pump. Make sure the water are always clean.

  • They can make the tank REALLY stinky if you don't have a filter!

  • @ManVsSelf i have a kick ass filter and when you get a thousand or 2 snails lol the filter dont cut it.

  • No these snails breath air. They will come to the surface and get air and store it in their shell.

  • is the goey white thing the eggs??? they look gross...

  • The small small red one its the egg. It come out from the snail.. and push to stick on the glass.

  • it was crazy..i had apples snails they never laid eggs...untill the day my tank failed (the tank water turned dark green then it cracked when i was cleaning it)..i noticed they had died but left a large amount of eggs on the side...i threw them out the goldfish died..but the ones who suvived were.. my ADF,sailfin pleco, betta and thats it :9 i regret giving themback to the store..

  • yea i know i have snails its golden apple snail i have red water snail idk there name for it i bought it at hasting nanaimo pet store.

  • Does ne1 know a breeder i could get apple snails from? I live in southern united states and all the petsmarts (3) and other isolated pet stores (4) either a) have sickly apple snails that look unhealthy or b) don't have them at all. any lead will be appriciate. (I really want to breed them)

  • I bought all of my mystery snails from pet smart, they are all happy and healthy, I have 8. Just pick out the active ones and you will be cool. Check my vid on goldfish to see a couple of my snails...

  • Someone farted at 0:01 lol

  • my fucken snail had like 500 baby

  • lmao looks like the snail just sneezed out a big ass booger

  • How do you get them to breed so well mine never breed?

what temp do you have the tank at does it effect the breeding?

  • usually when they lay, the babies come out to be around 100+, but not all will survive. Survival rate its around 30 - 40%.

Make sure you have both male n female to mate & lay, else the egg will not hatch. Feed them enough, clean water and warm temp.

  • dude that is awesome!!!!

  • how many eggs do they lay?

  • Its neither P.B. Effusa or P.B.Bridgesii Its actually a Canaliculata Apple snail.

  • is a hybrid?

    and a P.B. Effusa or P.B.Bridgesii?

    Eggs are dark..

  • how did those egg travel up? its my first time seeing snails laying and it looks odd

  • It's like how the snails "walks" but instead it is stationary and makes a sort of conveyor belt.

  • how can i remove the eggs from the tank ?

  • after the egg had been spawned, they remain as a foamy mass that gradually solidifies and sticks on the aquarium or other surface(might also been a plant,a brach etc....) after three days the hole thing will be dry enough to be carefully remobed with some kind of thin metal blade...always you´re going to brake some eggs....after that you might place the bleb in a recipient containing some humid cotton... but my advice is to loose them wherever the´ve been layed.Nature does the rest.

  • chinese!

  • I've got 7 of them for quite a Long time but non of them Lay eggs :(

  • Might because of the water temperature. Do you feed them well? Water condition also important.

  • Thanks for uploading , i bought 3 of them to breed little ones :P. A few for friends etc and some for my puffer 8 fish .

  • hey your snails are sexy. can someone look at my video of my snails together and tell me if they are mating? i keep finding baby snails in my tank but they are very tiny and a dark color so i figure they are those tiny annoying ones that take over your tank. are my snails mating? or is it a dominance thing?? HELP

  • i just found eggs above the water level in my tank next to the light. i have one apple snail and some fish and the eggs are pink

  • how long until the eggs hatch

  • Usually it will take around 2-3 weeks for the egg to hatch.

  • omg!lool.. are the eggs already fertilized?

  • Yup, i got around 60% success hatch.

  • aha, i wondered what my snails were doing! thanks for this, great help!!

  • can i buy like a pair 2 big ones from u...i live in charlotte, nc, usa...plz reply

  • Sorry, i was unable to export, its not allow here in Malaysia.

  • ah..

  • I have two Snails... when i was lifting one up... it had a leaf like thing on it with little black dots...is it eggs?...or is it like...diesiesed?

  • that is so cool, my first time seeing that lol. What happens if it cant go up to dry land? What happens when the eggs hatch? Will the baby snails drop in the water?

  • Apple snail live in fresh water. When its time to lay egg, they will crawl out of the water, and lay their eggs above water level. It took around 10 days for the eggs to hatch, then drop back to the water.

  • if they cant find dry land to lay their eggs on then they will lay under the water. unfortunately the eggs will drown and thus no babies. i have managed to breed them.

  • I used to have an Apple snail in my aquarium when I was a kid. It got to the size of a baseball. Pet shops all around here used to sell them for about a dollar. But a couple years ago, I went looking for an Apple snail, since I was getting back into keeping aquariums, and the pet shop guys said they couldn't sell them in North Carolina anymore because they'd been banned. They said they were surviving and breeding in local bodies of water. I wish there was a way of getting another one.

  • wtf there banned in nc man i gatta get out of charlotte nc for real now..thats why i love ny everything legal

  • unfortunately north carolina is warm enough for them to survive in the wild. thats why they got out and spread. and although many other parts of the states gets warm, the winters will kill them off. they dont like cold cold water.

  • Apple snail its a fresh water snail. They live all their life inside freshwater, except when they want to breed. They will go up to a dry place to lay their eggs.

The eggs will take around 1 - 2 weeks time to mature and small litter snaill will hatch and drop into the water.

  • wat is that at the bottom of the screen?

    cool vid! =p

  • more snail

  • those are eggs?!

    OoO

    woooooww... that's kewl! XD

  • I have one species in my tank. I've made a film which is simillar to this one, but much longer :) In my film snail is laying eggs one by one. They are bigger and have another colour. I had 2 males and one female. But a female died. In shops sellers don't know nothing about snails. Esspecialy about varieties of them. I don't know where can I get an applesnail that lays eggs like in this film...

  • I like snails they r cool and good that u hatchd most of the eggs =D

  • You need to have male and female snail for production! Hehehehe....

  • Oh.. my snail are huge. The eggs just tiny. Well, I was able to hatch them, alot of them.

  • do they selfe reproduce or do u have to have a male and female?

  • Those eggs are either tiny or your snail is huge. My apple snail eggs are huge compared to those! Did they hatch?
