@mattydunsky Man, it's been years since I did that project. If I remember right though, the teacher gave us an instrumental song and we just had to go off that.
As far as schools, I went to Saline HS, which is where I did the closeup project. I currently go to BGSU for film production.
when making a film, how do you utilize the camera (assuming you only have one) to make it seem as though there are multiple angled shots, etc?
Do you:
a) do the complete scene in its entirety with one camera angle (maybe, over the shoulder), and then the same complete scene again, but with a different angle? The end result being multiple clips/scenes that you cut and past in post.
or
b) over the shoulder angle - say one line - move the camera - other person say their line, etc?
Do the complete scene from one angle, then do it from another. This will make the acting much more consistent when cutting back and forth in editing as opposed to having them start and stop multiple times.
Also, if you have any lighting setup, you'll have to reset it each time you do a shot if you go with option B.
hey man! thanks for the info! it helped me alot to understand and to make sense alot more of what filmaking and cinematography is and its purspose! im a young self taught filmaker so that was a good and probably my first class! so thank you for your time to do that! wilpower.
Great video! Could you tell me a bit more about your school project? The one consisting of only close-ups and one medium shot.
What were all the rules of that project? Could you create the story yourself or did the professor hand out story lines? Which school did you attend?
Thanks!

Do The Right Thing is definitely one of the best films in the '90s!!

Do The Right Thing has a 98% on rottentomatoes, so I think most people would like it...
A bad movie that uses Dutch angles is Battlefield Earth. In fact, every shot is a Dutch angle.
