The buildings didn't fall at free fall acceleration, they didn't fall into their own footprint, and there is plenty of debris from the pentagon, and no one claims the fire melted the steel. How stupid do you have to be to think a truck could pull up to the pentagon and dump all of that debris without anyone noticing..

_All_ reporting of this type is sure to be somewhat "biased." However, it seem to me that AJ is mostly echoing what many people are saying. There is a culture of secrecy, of fear of the loss of civil liberties, in which a person may be detained without any representation, without any chance to argue their case. "invaded" and "pretext" are terms that do not fully encompass the contempt that could be shown. for instance, if the reporter called the invasion a criminal act of war aggression, which is the supreme crime of international law and in clear violation of the UN charter; she would be 100% factually correct without having to show any bias agianst the US.

"pretext" could be called "preventative war", which is an illegall kind of war that results from imagined threats; rather than "pre-emptive" war, which requires that threats from a country can actually be shown to exist. the terms she used were very neutral and did not criticize the US, they simply stated the facts of the situation briefly and objectively.

i think it is more telling of US culture, that any judgement of the facts which shows that the US may be in the wrong is immediately labeled as "contempt for the US" without any consideration for the facts. this actually shows a perfect example of the fear culture in the US right now; people are likely to think that these factual statements are made because everyone hates the US.

Why do you think there has been record profits? that is becasue the supply is so low! when you have markets like India and China growing at 10% annually, they need power. China is also buying oil from countries without having it go into the market. So it is a simple supply and demand. it is basic ecominics. to get the price (and profits) to go down all that needs to happen is for more oil to go into the market.

the piont was that the invasion of iraq has nothing to do with oil... Iraq is a memeber of OPEC and therefore the exports of oil would be judged by that cartel.
